| Chapter Nineteen Lucky watched Sheba run around the corral. He had been wondering around Spoon Island for hours and stopped to pet her. You don't like being pinned in, either, he said, holding out an apple. Sheba walked up and took the apple. I don't much like it myself. Nik tried to get me out of here but failed. he said to her, as he petted her nose. I know he misses you and when this is over, we'll find some place where you can have more space to run. I think you like that. She is a beautiful creature isn't she? Helena said, walking toward them. She noticed that Lucky jumped at the sound of her voice. Yes, she is grandmother, Lucky said, trying not to choke on the words. Sheba had moved to the other side of the corral. She acted as if Helena was going to hurt both of them. She kept pacing back and forth on the other side of the corral. How about going to stone bench where we can talk, she said, gently putting an arm around him. Lucky didn't have much choice but to follow her. When they arrived at the bench, Lucky sat as far away from her as possible. She looked at him and said, Lucky, I don't blame you for hating me. I did try to be your friend but then I found that bug. I blamed you and it was your father's fault, not yours. I shouldn't have slapped you and I'm sorry, she said, moving a little closer. What do you want? He asked her with suspicious eyes. I want to get to know you. You are the only thing left of Mikkos, besides Stavros and I think we can learn a lot from each other, she said speaking to him in low soft tone of voice. Mikkos tried to freeze the world. What else is there to know about him? Lucky said, with sarcasm in his voice. He wasn't the monster your father said he was and neither am I. Luke filled you with a lot of lies about your own family. How about I tell you some of the truth, she said, pulling him to her. Lucky just looked at her but didn't say anything. He was tired of fighting them and maybe giving up was the only thing he could do. She smiled at him because he didn't pull away. Mikkos wasn't trying to freeze the world. He wanted to save it but no one understood that. He paid a big price for his heart and your father took him away from me. I'm not blaming you, because that wouldn't be right. When Stavros and I get rid of Victor, how would you like to go on a trip with us? I can show you the places the Cassadines own and you'll see all of the good we have done. You are going against Victor? Dad said you were all in this together? Lucky said, very confused. No. Victor is behind all of this and he killed Stefan. I'm going to make him pay for that, but I don't want to get you hurt in the process. Give me time and Victor will fall, but until then don't anger him. I don't want to show my hand just yet, she said, gently hugging him. Helena looked at her watch and said, Go up and cleaned up for Supper. I will be with you in a minute. I want to say my good-byes to Stefan. I know this was his favorite place. Lucky got up and did as he was told. He was trying to think straight but his mind was so messed up from the pills Victor forced him to take. He couldn't sort everything out. Helena watched him go and when Lucky was out of sight, Stavros walked out from behind the bushes. How are we going to get him out of town without Luke getting in our way? he asked her. I'll handle all of the preparations. You have a job to do and that is to be nice to Lucky. He is the heir and I don't want him hurt. We have to get Victor out of the way and get Luke to save his son. I have a way to do just that. So listen up and I will tell you what I have planned, Helena said tapping the bench beside her. Our look a likes are going to by us time. When Victor's plan blows up, we will set up our deaths, giving Luke and his family false confidence. When they let their guard down, Lucky will be ours, but I want him to come with us willingly. You have to become his friend and get him to trust you. I don't care what you do after we get him but until then you behave yourself, she told him and they both headed up to get ready for supper. Victor arrived at the dinner table and wasn't happy. He just got off the phone with the mayor and he was told that the Port Charles Police Department doesn't exclude any one just because they have money. The Cassadines break the law and they must pay the penalty, just like any other citizen. Lucky was sitting at the table and didn't like the way Victor stormed into the room. He was in a bad mood and that meant only trouble for him. He was going to try not to bring any attention to himself. Stavros sat beside Lucky and smiled at him. Lucky was in shock. Stavros was up to something he knew it but maybe Helena talked to him and that what brought on the change in attitude. Lucky couldn't figure any of them out. He just slowly ate his dinner and tried to think of his stomach that was doing flips on him. When he finished, Lucky put his fork down and softly asked. May I be excused, Uncle Victor? Get out of here and go your room. I don't want to see you for the rest of the night, Victor said, waving him off. Lucky almost ran out of the room but stopped himself until he was out of their sight. Lucky sat at his desk, trying to work on his assignments when Stavros walked in. He sat on the bed and asked, How do you feel? You didn't look too good at supper. I was worried about you. Not good. I didn't keep it down and my stomach is still doing flips, Lucky said truthfully. Here take this. I promise it isn't any thing from Victor, Stavros said handing him a bottle Milk of Magnesium. Lucky smiled at him and took it. What are those pills? And don't tell me they are for pain. I know better, Lucky asked him. I don't know but your right they aren't for pain and I have a plan to get you help. When the wedding party arrives back here, I want you to fake passing out and that should get the attention of the doctors in the room. Victor can't stop them from getting you help. He would end up in jail for neglect, Stavros said, with a comforting smile. I'll do that but, I could pass out for real. I really don't feel that hot and by the wedding I might be worse, Lucky said, trying to smile but failed. Stavros. Why did you force my mother into marrying you? I thought I could get her to forget Luke and love me just as much. I was wrong and so is Victor. Luke and Laura complete each other and know one can pull them apart. I tried and now Victor is trying. Alexis understands this and she isnt doing any of this for herself. Shes doing it for you. Victors plan will fail and I hope he doesnt take you with him. Stavros said gently patting Lucky on the back. Thanks. Lucky said with a sad look on his face. For what? Stavros asked him. Telling me the truth. I hope you find someone that love you for yourself. Lucky a said and went back to his assignments. Stavros left him and headed to find his mother. She was going to like this development. Their plan was working just like she said it would. Chapter 20 Back to What's the Truth? |
