Chapter Twenty

Early the next day, Alexis walked up to the Quartermaine�s door and rang the
doorbell. She hopped this was going to work. Reggie answered the door and she
asked. �Is Ned here? I would like to talk to him.�

�This way Miss Davis.� Reggie said with a slight smile and showed her into the
living room. Ned was at the desk but true to form he didn�t speak until Reggie
left them alone.

�You have some nerve coming here.� Ned said coldly getting up to get a drink.

�I came to tell you the truth and I hope you would listen.� she said sitting
down in one of the chairs.

�Speak. I�m a busy man and your wasting my time.� Ned said coldly.

�I know your mad about the news of my marring Luke but it isn�t what you think.
I don�t love him and he doesn�t love me but we both love Lucky. Victor Cassadine
gave us a choice. Die and he keeps the kids. Live and we get married. I only
chose life to save Lucky. You would have done the same thing if it was your
daughter, Brooklyn.� She told him and started to cry.

Ned walked over to her and places his hand on her shoulder. �Alexis. Why are you
doing this? Just go the police and they will get him home. Hell, Luke could call
Sonny. What is stopping everyone?� Ned asked.

�I�ll tell you but this stays between us. Victor has Robert Scorpio. I saw him
and talked to him. We are waiting for the WSB to get him out, but we might be
too late. Luke has an idea. We tell Victor to get Lucky to a hospital and he
wouldn�t do it, but if everyone else does. He wouldn�t have a chose. Victor is
giving Lucky something and it is killing him. I know it, but can�t prove it. I
was hopping Monica could come to the wedding and I want you to give me away. I
need my friends by my side. Laura is in the wedding could you be strong enough
to trust me and help my son.� Alexis pleaded.

�We all will be there,� said Lila as she wheeled into the room. She looked at
Ned and said. �You are fool if you let her go. Luke is my friend and Lucky needs
our help. He helped Emily and we are going to help him.�

�I was just going to say that,� he said looking at Alexis. �I�ll give you way
but Luke has to give you back when this is over.� Alexis smiled and hugged Ned.
Lila left them alone and went to talk to Edward. There is something they could
do to help and he was going to do it.

Later that afternoon, everyone was trying on dresses or tuxes to get ready for
the wedding. Victor was with the men and Helena was with the women. They both
couldn�t believe what a joke this wedding was turning into, but they didn�t say
what kind of wedding to have. So, they just let this stay as it was and let them
make fools of themselves.

Victor sat and watched the group of men trying on the tuxes and said. �You are
making this into one big joke.�

�No. You did that, I�m turning this into a circus.� Luke said with a devilish
grin. Victor just glared at him but got even madder when Ned walked into the
room.

�I�m here. Alexis said you have a tux all ready for the father of the bride.� he
said with a laugh looking directly at Victor.

Victor couldn�t take it any longer and stormed out of the shop. Stavros got
picked up when they first got in and he wasn�t happy about it. He yelled at him
for hours but now Victor was about to get a surprise. When he stormed out of the
shop. Victor just crossed the street and didn�t bother to go to the crosswalk. A
uniformed officer stopped him by the limo and started to give him a ticket, two
actually. One for Jay walking and the other for parking too close to a fire
hydrant.

Everyone in the shop watched the scene with smiles on their faces. �Here comes
Taggert?� Sonny said. �I didn�t think I would ever say this but he does come in
handy for things.�

They all laughed and watched to scene play out in front of them. Victor tore up
the tickets and threw them on the ground. He was about to get into the car when
Taggert grabbed him. Victor shoved him away. It didn�t take Taggert long to have
Victor in handcuffs and heading to jail.

�Resisting arrest, Assault, and anything Taggert can think of. Victor might be
in jail for the night at least and he will if Dara dose what she is suppose to.�
Luke said puffing on his cigar.

�That should give Lucky one less Cassadine to worry about.� Jason said while the
tailor fitted him for his suit.

Across town, Helena was having the same reaction to Laura as he had with Ned.
She couldn�t believe what they were doing, but she just sat back and watched.
Emily, Lizzie and Robin were also in the wedding. They had their dresses on and
were standing in the mirror when Helena got a phone call. She talked very little
and hung up. �I�ll see you at the wedding. I have to go. Victor just got
arrested and he needs me to bail him out.� She said with a smile.

Laura watched her leave and turned to Alexis. �He will not get out tonight. I
hope this doesn't go against Lucky when he does get out.�

�The wedding is tomorrow. He will be all right.� Robin said. �And soon this all
will be over.�

Lucky was sitting in the library when Stavros walked in and sat in the chair
across from him. �Do you want to play chess?� he asked.

�I don�t know how?� Lucky told him.

�I will teach you and we can talk more. Helena just called Victor isn�t coming
home tonight and she will be a little late.� Stavros said with an odd look on
his face.

Lucky looked at him and asked. �What happened?�

�Victor is in jail and he isn�t getting out until morning. The judge can�t be
found until then. We can have peace at least for tonight.� Stavros said setting
up the chessboard.

Lucky tried to hide his smile but failed. Stavros smiled back and started to
teach him about the game of chess. They talked and played all the rest of the
day. Only stopping for supper. Helena arrived late that night. Lucky wasn�t
hungry and had cut out early. Stavros was waiting up for her. He looked at his
mother and asked. �Is everything in place?�

�Yes. They know what to do or what we want them to know.� Helena said with a
smile. �We vanish tomorrow and Victor takes a fall.� She sat down in the chair
looking at her son sitting at the chest board. �You haven�t picked up your
brothers habit of playing that game alone. Have you?�

�No. I was teaching Lucky. He is fast learner. I can�t wait to teach him about
the best things of being a Cassadine.� Stavros said joining her. The two of them
stayed up late talking of what they had planned for Lucky. They also had a few
surprises for Luke as well.

The day of the wedding just about the whole town of Port Charles was at the
church. Sonny was Luke�s best man and Nikolas, Lance, and Mike were also in the
wedding. Jason was one of the ushers. He was to keep an eye on the Cassadines
during the wedding. Ruby and Bobbie sat in the front pew. They weren�t happy
about this whole thing and the only reason either of them were there was for
Lucky. Bobbie thought her brother had lost his mind and needed to be committed.

The Cassadines arrived just before the wedding was supposed to start. Victor had
a hand on Lucky�s good arm and was guiding him down the aisles. Lila stuck her
hand out to him and they lightly touched before he was shoved by her. She was
surprised to find they were ice cold. She told Reggie to get Jason and have him
come to her. Everyone was shocked to see how pail he looked. Luke went up to
Victor and demanded. �What�s wrong with him?�

�Nothing. He doesn�t feel well and you�re the one that wanted him here.� Victor
said shoving Lucky into the pews. Lucky moved against the wall and leaned his
face against it. Only because the cold wall helped cool him off a little. He
hadn�t eaten at all and he felt he could pass out any minute. Stavros� plan was
going to work better then he thought and maybe before the party.

Luke leaned in and asked him. �Cowboy are you all right?� Luke couldn�t hide the
concern in his voice.

�Yes, dad just get this over with and then we can get out of here.� Lucky said
trying to hide how he really felt from his father.

Jason kneeled besides his grandmother and asked. �What�s wrong?�

�Lucky�s hands are ice cold. I want you to check on him and tell Monica. He�s
sick and shouldn�t be here.� she said looking very worried about Lucky.

Jason walked up behind Lucky and placed his hand on his neck. He was burning up
and he took his pulse. While he talked to him. �Are you all right? Lila wanted
to know if you were felling ok?� Victor glared at him but didn�t say anything.
Lucky told him the same thing he said to his father and Jason left. Jason sat
down beside Monica and said. �Lucky�s pulse is low and he is burning up. Lila
told me his hands are ice cold.� Jason said not looking at her.

Monica looked in Lucky�s direction with real concern. He didn�t need to be here
and from the looks of him, the only place Lucky Spencer should be was hospital.
She wasn�t going to go to the party but changed her mind at least for Lucky�s
sake.

�I�m going to the party. He is going to need a hospital. We aren�t leaving that
boy on the island for one more night.� she said. The wedding started and neither
said another word during the ceremony but they didn�t look anywhere but in
Lucky�s direction.

The wedding wasn�t that long and when it came down to part the part, �If any one
here knows for any reason why these two should not be joined. Speak now or
forever hold their peace.� Lucky could have bet that someone would have spoken
up but they didn�t and everything was over. Lucky�s heart stopped right then. He
realized that Luke Spencer died and Lucas Cassadine the first was born.

Victor suddenly grabbed him by his bad the arm and pulled him from the pews. He
got what he wanted and didn�t want to spend a lot of time talking to this crowd.
Helena smiled at the scene. She was enjoying Victor�s down fall and everyone in
the church wanted to lynch him.

Sonny walked up and said. �You could ask him do something and not yank him
around. You got what you wanted Cassadine. Now let him go.�

�Don�t play tough guy with me. I will see you at the house.� Victor said and
shoved Lucky in front of him. Stavros had to catch him from fall on his face.
Lucky looked up at Stavros thanking him with his eyes. Stavros smiled and helped
Lucky out to the car.

When the Cassadines left Jason walked up to Luke and told him about Lucky�s
condition. �Let�s go. I�ll keep Victor busy. Amy, check on my son. Victor will
not expect much trouble coming from you. When you find anything out, come and
get me. I will do the rest.� Luke said and everyone headed to the party. Lila
told Ned to call her as soon as he got any more information and Reggie took her
home.

Lucky fell asleep on the way back to the island and Stavros had to almost carry
him to the house. Stavros looked at Helena with concern. He hoped they weren�t
too late. Lucky might be dead before their plans have a chance to come in
effect. He places Lucky on the couch in the living room. He leaned close and
said. �Your father is arriving. Victor is about to fall. Helena and I are
leaving because they won�t understand out part in this. We will come back for
you.� he said and left the room. Luke suddenly stormed into the room and went
directly to Victor and started an argument.

Lucky looked up to see everyone looking at him. He hoped he didn�t look as bad
as he felt but from the looks on their faces he did. He got up and went to greet
everyone.

Lucky walked up to Amy and said. �I'm glad your here, Au� Amy.� He was going to
call her aunt but one look at Victor cut him off.

She looked over at Victor and glared at him. �You can call me Aunt Amy if you
like,� she said.

�No. Sorry, but it isn't proper,� he said, not taking his eyes off Victor.

Amy hugged him again and realized Jason was right he was burning up and hands
were ice cold. She left him with Nikolas and Lizzie. While she was gone, Lucky
found it hard for him to get things to come in focus. He didn�t even here what
Liz and Nik were saying to him. Amy grabbed Luke by the arm and turned him
toward her. �Go check on your son,� she demanded.

�What's wrong?� Luke asked, he didn�t like the look on her face. He had been
hopping that Jason was wrong. Luke forgot about Victor right then and placed his
whole attention to Lucky. Sonny noticed that Victor was trying to leave the
room. Jason and him stopped him from leaving.

�He is burning up with fever and he doesn't look good,� she said a little
frightened.

Luke walked over to Lucky and gently placed his hand on his forehead. Lucky was
burning up but what got Luke was that Lucky suddenly fell right into his arms.
Luke picked him up and placed him on the couch. Monica rushed over and checked
him out. She looked at Luke and ordered, �Call the ambulance. He needs to be in
the hospital right now.�

Ned rushed to the phone to make the call and Luke went to confront Victor,
demanding. �What have you done to him?�

�Nothing. I knew he hasn't been eating and not feeling well but he would have
been in the hospital if I knew he was this bad.� Victor said, with all the charm
of a snake. Sonny wasn�t buying it and moved in a little closer.

Luke tried to swing at him but Mac stopped him. �Robert,� Mac whispered to Luke.
Luke shook loose and walked over to Lucky. He wasn't looking good and Luke
thought he looked even worse. Laura and Alexis were standing side by side,
holding each other up. The thought of Lucky dying scared both of them.

While Luke was getting married, Frisco Jones and his new partner Jake Speed were
sneaking into the Cassadine strongholds that Robert was suppose to be held in.
The two men snuck around the back of the guardhouse and headed toward the prison
cells. Jake opened up the electric panel and hooked up the scrabbler. He hit a
switch, shutting down all the power in the building. �We have four minutes
before company arrives,� he said rushing to Robert's cell.

It didn't take Frisco long to get the door unlocked. He rushed in and gently
rolled Robert over. He was lying on a bunk, right by the door. �Rob, it is me.
Frisco.� He softly spoke, when Robert started to fight him.

�Frisco? About time someone got around to getting me out of here. Did Luke send
you?� Robert asked. With a little help from Frisco and Jake. They carried Robert
from the cell and down the hall.

�Yes, but we can talk later because we are going to have company,� Jake said,
pulling out his gun.

They managed to get Robert away from the Cassadines and even caused a little
damage to the property. The Cassadines were going to spend a lot of money to
replace everything. Robert was placed into the bottom of the boat and they
headed to the plane that was waiting for them on another island. He didn't say
much until, Jake and Frisco got him aboard the plane and was heading back to the
states.

�Where are we going� Robert asked, trying to sit up.

�D.C. The brass wants to talk to you,� Jake said as he flew the plane.

�No. We need to go to Port Charles. Luke and his son are in danger. Victor isn't
going to keep them alive. This was all a set up to kill everyone who stopped
Mikkos. He plans on killing Lucky to watch Luke suffer, but if I'm out, he might
just kill them right anyway,� Robert told the men in earnest.

�How is he going to kill the kid?'' Frisco asked Robert, turning around in the
seat.

�He is poisoning him, but the poison has a catch. Lucky stops taking it. He dies
right away but if not it will kill him slowly. Only Victor knows the antidote.
He wants to break Luke and killing Lucky is the way to do it. When Lucky is
gone, Victor thinks Luke will be a push over.� Robert said grabbing, the canteen
from Frisco's hands.

�The snake is nuts. Luke will go wild when Lucky dies, not roll over and
submit,� Frisco told his old friend.

�I know. We have to get there before anything bad happens to Lucky or Luke might
just kill every Cassadine in sight,� Robert told the men.

Frisco told Jake to change course and head for Port Charles. He grabbed a phone
from a brief case and said to Robert, �Call Mac and warn him. The number is all
ready programmed into the phone.�

Mac was in the waiting room with the rest of the Spencer's friends for
information on Lucky when his cell phone rang. Answering he said, �Scorpio?�

�Mac, its Robert. I'm free, you have to get to Luke. Lucky is being poisoned,
but the kicker is if he stops taking the poison he will die. The only person who
has the antidote is Victor,� Robert told his brother, without much of a
greeting.

�Are sure about this?� Mac asked.

�Yes, Victor bragged to me before leaving for Port Charles. He said the next
time I saw him, Luke and Lucky would be dead and that I was next,� Robert
answered.

�Thanks and Robert. We will talk when you get back into town,� Mac said and hung
up the phone.

�Taggert, Garcia, Arrest Victor Cassadine for attempted murder and try to get
Victor to give you the pills he was giving Lucky. Move it, or Lucky might not
make it through the night,� Mac ordered, running out of the waiting room and
headed to talk to the doctors.
