| Chapter Eighteen Lance was right. Lucky wasn't doing good at all. He walked down the hall toward his room. He just spent five hours with a monster of a tutor. She piled work on top of work on him and he didn't feel good. Lucky skipped supper because his stomach hadn't settled down at all and in fact, he felt worse. He placed his books on the desk and collapsed into his chair. How much longer this going to go on? He wondered. He looked at the table where the phone should have been. Victor had ordered it removed while he was out. Damn. He isn't going to let up. Lucky laid his head on the desk and tired to get his thoughts together. Lucky pulled his head up and started to read his assignments. He had spent over four hours reading, when Victor walked into the room. He placed two pills on the desk along with a glass of water. Lucky could have screamed, but he didn't have the energy to fight him any more. He just grabbed the pills and took them without a problem. He realized that continuing to study would be useless. Those pills usually knocked him out. So, Lucky just climbed into bed. At least in sleep, Victor couldn't control his dreams. His last thoughts were of his family. Lucky wondered if they even missed him. Luke sat at the club going over the plan with Sonny, Jason, Alexis, and Laura. Remember, mess up and Lucky pays the price, not us. He is with those Vampires and I want him away from them as soon as the WSB gets Robert out. We just have to make this look good until then, Luke said getting up to get a drink but changed his mind. The look he got from everyone in the room did any way. Sonny, what are smiling at? Alexis asked him after Luke sat back down. I just got an evil idea. I don't think old Victor would expect this. I have the names for the wedding licenses, he said with an evil grin. What? Luke asked him. Sonny told them and everyone laughed. Alexis and Laura looked at each other and got a great idea for a theme for this wedding. Victor wants a public wedding why not make it a public farce. Everyone goes as 1920's Gangsters. That should get his blood pressure up. He wants a wedding, he didn't say anything else about it, Laura said with a laugh. Angel, I love it. I can't wait to see old Victor's face when he sees this, Luke laughed, but stopped suddenly. The reason behind all of this hit him again and he shivered. I hope Lucky is all right. He didn't look too good when we landed and Victor didn't give us much time with him. Luke, don't worry. Lucky can look after himself just like he always has, Laura said, trying to sound convincing. She too was worried about Lucky and was praying he was all right. She didn't have the heart to tell Luke about the way Victor shoved Lucky around back on the island. Things were bad enough right now. She didn't need to make matter worse by angering Luke any more. **************** Lucky was still asleep late into the day. Victor and the rest of the Cassadines werent anywhere to be seen. They figured Lucky wouldn't cause much trouble if he were asleep. Nikolas and Lizzie walked into to his room and were shocked at how pale he looked. His face was as white as the pillows. They both quickly rushed over to him and shook him awake. Lucky was hard to wake up and wasn't very lucid when was awake. Lucky? Wake up!! You are beginning to scare me, Lizzie said, shaking him again and this time gently patting his check. Lucky suddenly rolled into a ball and was saying, I'm sorry, Uncle Victor. I'll get up! His voice was pleading and the two friends just looked at each other in shock. This wasn't the same Lucky Spencer they knew. They were wondering what Victor was doing to him. Lucky, it is all right. It is just me and Lizzie, Nikolas said, gently turning his brother over. Lucky blinked at him is surprise. He didn't expect to see either of them until the wedding. How did you get in here? Does Uncle Victor know your here? he said, with a confused look on his face. He was afraid of what Victor could do if he found out that they were here. We went through the secret passages and no, Victor doesn't know we are here, Nikolas said, getting more worried about his brother even more. He didn't like any of this. They had to get him out of here. He didn't care what Luke said anymore. Lucky needed help and they were going to help him. Nikolas looked at Lizzie and they both grabbed Lucky by the arms careful not to pull at his bad one to hard. Come on. We are getting you out of here, she said, pulling him up, but Lucky wasn't having it. He was too afraid of Victor to go with his friends. No. Leave before he knows you're here, Lucky said, trying to pull away from his friends. Suddenly, a voice rang out in the room. Too late. He knows, Stavros said, as he leaned on the doorframe. Victor isn't happy about this either. Stavros was grinning at the kids such an evil smile that it sent chills running up and down Lizzie's back. She looked at Lucky. He had sat up and was leaning against the back of the bed. He was gripping his knees with his good arm. He was starring at Stavros with wide open, scared eyes. She shook off her fear and stood in front of the bed. What have you done to him? she demanded. Stavros just glared at her. He turned and walked out. Victor suddenly appeared in the doorway. His presence only made Lucky turn even more pale. Did you invite them here? He asked looking directly at Lucky. No, Uncle. I didn't but I would appreciate the time to talk to my friends, he said, in pleading voice. Hoping Victor would let him have this one thing but it wasnt going to happen. Victor looked at the to kids and said. No. I would have, if they would have asked, but I don't like intruders. You have to leave, Victor pointed to the door and stood out of the way. He smiled as Luckys face fell even more. Lizzie wasn't going to leave but Nikolas gently pushed her to the door. He realized they would just make matters worse by making Victor even angrier at Lucky. He looked directly at Victor and said, This was my idea, all of it. He had nothing to do with this. Lizzie stopped and turned to Lucky. Ill see you later, she said daring Victor to argue the point. He glared at her but she didnt let him get to her. Lucky needs her strong and was resolved to be just that. Victor smiled as they disappeared from sight. Stavros escorted the two kids to the front door. When Victor was sure they were out of earshot, he turned to Lucky and demanded, You weren't going with them? No. I know better. I'm not getting out of here, Lucky said, praying that Victor was still in control of his anger. He was afraid of what might happen. They shouldnt have showed up. Lucky thought. Good. You were honest with me and I'm going to reward you with the day off. You can do anything you want. Just don't leave the island, he warned Lucky and walked away. Lucky looked at him in shock. Victor just did something nice but what was the catch? Victor was laughing. He couldn't believe how fast he broke Lucky, but the pills were helping matters greatly. Victor walked into the study and found Helena sitting behind the desk. She looked up and asked, How is our little guest? Scared. He didn't even think about going with his friends. I'm kind of glad they did try this. Now, I know how much control I have over Lucas, He said sitting in one of the chairs. What do you think of Spencer's efforts of keeping us in town and putting the cops after us? he asked her. He isn't dumb. You knew that and Victor, don't be too cocky. Luke isn't a push over. You might have underestimated him and his friends. They have cut all our escape routes off. My yacht has been impounded and we couldn't even get a bus out of this backwater town, she said, shaking her head at Victor. She realized that Victor thought he knew everything and was now paying for his mistakes. I don't plan to leave town, at least not yet. I'm not done with Spencer. We will get out when the time comes, he said, without a sign of fear. Helena wasn't too sure and decided to make her own plans. Victor was expendable and she wasn't going to fall with him. Luke might turn the tables on him and she knew it. Helena got up and went to find Stavros. They needed to talk. They had a lot of planning to do before the wedding day arrives and she wanted to be ready. Chapter 19 Back to What's the Truth |
