| Chapter 7: Lucky was still asleep at ten the next morning. He didnt have anything to do because school was out and he really wasnt looking forward to spending any time with the Cassadines. So, he figured bed was the best place for him. When Stefan found out that Lucky still hadnt gotten out of bed. He decided to go check up on him. As soon as Stefan walked into Luckys room, Foster lifted his head and started to growl at him. Stefan looked at the dog and softly spoke. Easy, boy. Im not going to hurt him. Stefan had his hand up in a defensive posture, just to show the dog that he meant no harm. He hated Foster as much as the dog hated him. The first time the animal was brought to the house, Stefan and Foster didnt get along at all. The dog now spent most of his time near Lucky and this was the first time either of them met. Lucky was awake by this time. He was trying not to laugh, as he heard Stefan talk to Foster and try to ease near him but so far no go. Every time Stefan took a few steps, Foster would stand up and start growling even more. Finally, Stefan gave up and stood by the door and called out. Lucas, wake up. Stefan commanded. Lucky lay there, unmoving, for a few moments until he could get the hate out of his eyes. He then slowly sat up and forced a yawn. What do you want? Lucky asked in a tired and dragging voice. It is ten oclock. Time to get up. You have lessons to do today and your Aunt Barbara wanted to know if you would help Ruby out in the dinner. I think it is because she is still ill and needs the help. Stefan said in his uptight and stuffy manor. Lessons? What are you talking about? Lucky asked. He liked the idea of helping Ruby. It would give him something to do beside hang around this place all the time. It was the word lessons Lucky was having trouble with. I arranged to have you tutored this summer. Your school is willing to take this work in place of your missed lessons and spotty work. It is way for you to go on with your classes. I didnt ask you do to me a favor. I messed up and Ill live with it. Lucky said coldly. There was no way he was going to owe Cassadine anything. I did and you will do spend a few hours each day working on them. No argument. Stefan said and he turned and walked out. Lucky got out of bed and rushed after him. You dont get! Lucky yelled in the hall. You are not my boss and I dont have to do anything you say. Young man, Stefan said, slowly turning around and facing Lucky. I am in charge of this household and as long as you live under my roof, you will do as I say. Now, either you do as you're told or you stay in your room until you change your mind. Go to Hell! Lucky snapped and headed back to his room and slammed the door. He was packing a bag when he suddenly heard a loud click. He tried to open the door but it wouldnt budge. You chose. Stefan said smugly from his side of the room. You cant do this, Lucky yelled as he kicked the door. I can and have, Stefan said, and if you try to climb down from your little view point on the roof, you will find out that it is easy to break your neck. There is one way out of this floor and that is this door. Now, are you willing to go along with my rules? You know where you can stick your rules. Lucky yelled back and went to the window to check if what Stefan said was true. He could go up to his roof but not more past it and the wall was a very steep drop going downward. He was stuck and there was nothing he could do about it. Lucky looked at Foster who was sniffing at the door. Boy, I think I messed up. Our only hope now is Aunt Bobbie or Kevin. Lucky said, sitting on the bed. He knew Foster needed to go out, but he was stuck for the moment. Lucky pulled off the curtains from the window and laid them out on the small little deck. Go there. That should really get the count, Lucky muttered to his old friend. It was just after one oclock when Kevin showed up. The problem was that Stefan was gone by then and the maid refused to open the door. Finally, Kevin lost his cool and called the hospital. The conversation with Bobbie was short and her temper got shorter after it was over with. She headed toward Stefans office soon afterwards and found him in the hall taking to Edward after a board meeting. What in Gods name do you think you are doing? Bobbie demanded as she got near the two men. Edward looked between Stefan and Bobbie and smiled. He knew a fight was coming on and he stuck around to watch. Barbara, whats wrong? Cant you see Im in a meeting? Stefan asked her, forgetting all about his argument with Lucky that morning. No, it cant wait. I want to know why you locked Lucky in his room, Bobbie yelled, getting right into Stefans face. Edward and everyone in the hallway heard this and not one person looked happy. They did keep still and wait for Bobbie to deal with this. Lets go to my office and talk. I will explain everything. Stefan said as he took her by the arm. Bobbie pulled free and glared at him coldly. No, here and now, and it better be good? Bobbie said as she put her hands on her hips. Ok, you want to this here, fine with me. Stefan said and he got cold and hateful. I explained to Lucas about setting up his lessons and the reasons behind it. He got mouthy with me and said some words that a young man his age shouldnt say. I locked him in his room until he calmed down and listened to reason. If we dont set rules now, he will run all over us. I dont believe you, Monica said as she broke in between the two of them. She had heard enough and couldnt stay quite any longer. Monica... Bobbie said softly. No, Bobbie, I have say this, Monica said to her friend and then turned on Stefan. You egotistical moron. Lucky has been through hell and you just made hit worse. School isnt that important. His mental and physical health are. Didnt you stop and think that he isnt ready to work on math, reading, and other school subjects? Maybe he might needs a break and a chance to figure things out first. I dont see what this is your concern, Stefan said coldly, you should know your place by now doctor. Why you, Monica said and almost hit him if it wasnt for Alan grabbing her hand. Cassadine! Edward said in a cold voice. If it wasnt for Bobbie, I would go to the judge right now and take that young man from you, but Ill let this slide for now. Bobbie? Edward turned to her. If you need a place to stay, our home is open at any time. I give you twenty four hours to deal with your husband or I will go to the judge. Edward snapped and walked away. He pulled Monica with him just to keep her from hurting Stefan. I dont believe those people, Stefan muttered, but Bobbie broke in. I do and they mean it. I will not loose Lucky because of you. I am his Aunt and I will decide what is best for him. You will stay out of it or Stefan this marriage of ours will no longer work, Bobbie snapped and stormed off. She headed back to the house to get the door unlocked any way she could. Stefan watched her go and missed seeing the figure hiding in the shadows. Helena smiled an evil smile at her timing. So, my son is blowing it all ready. He has the key to bring down Luke once and for all and he cant do it. I think it is my turn to try my hand in this little game. Helena thought coldly and headed the other direction before Stefan turned around. She had lost of things to do and so little time to do them in. Bobbie arrived at the house a half an hour later and found Kevin still arguing with Ms. Lansbury. Give me the key? Kevin said. He was about ready to loss his mind. Mr. Cassadine... the maid said but Bobbie cut her off. Mr. Cassadine isnt in charge of my nephew. I am and you will give me the key, Bobbie commanded as she walked toward the two in the hallway. Ms. Lansbury looked at her and then relented. She handed the key over and walked way. Bobbie let her and quickly opened the door. She found Lucky standing on the other side glaring at her with cold blue eyes. I hate him, Lucky muttered. Easy, Lucky Bobbie said trying to calm him down. No, I really hate him and I want go somewhere else. I dont want to spend on more minute with that man. He killed half my family, took dad from me, and now he locked me up. I want to leave now, Lucky yelled. He wasnt going to say anything just yet but he just couldnt stay quite any longer. Being locked in the room was the last straw for him. What? Both Kevin and Bobbie said in shock. Neither of them expected this from him. Lucky shoved his mothers journal at them and watched them read. Kevin went from shock to dismay and Bobbie went to out right rage. She looked at Lucky and snapped. Pack, now. She then headed out to get her belongings and Lucas' ready. How long did you know? Kevin asked. I found it last night. I suddenly remembered taking it. I think that is what dad was looking for, Lucky said sadly. Oh, boy, Kevin muttered and slowly helped Lucky pack. Neither of them talked during this time. Kevin was trying to find the right words before speaking and Lucky wasnt in the mood to talk at the moment. They were all ready down stairs and packed by the time Bobbie arrived with Lucas. She had her things in bags as well and the staff was taking them to the docks. Stefan walked in at that moment. Bobbie looked at Kevin and said, Take them down. Ill join you in a bit, she said in a tight voice. Stefan was in shock as Kevin walked past with Lucky, Lucas, and Foster. Bobbie waited for the door to close before speaking. I dont want to hear your voice, at least not right now. You used me and Im going make you pay for it... where it hurts you most. Barbara, what are you talking about? Stefan snapped at her. He was sick of being treated like a child in his own home. They died because of you and Im going to make you pay for it. You sent Laura way because you couldnt live with the idea that she loved my brother. You married me for the same reason, to take everyone that Luke loved away from him. You did this and I let you, Bobbie said in a cold, hate filled voice as tears fell from her eyes. She headed for the door but Stefan stopped her. Wait, let me explain, Stefan said as he suddenly realized what she was talking about. To late. They died and now you are going to pay. You might not have done anything to that plane, but they would have never been on it if it wasnt for you. Im going to make sure you pay, Stefan, if it's the last thing I do, Bobbie said and she stormed out. Stefan stood there looking at the door for a long time and as he turned around, he found Nikolas standing behind him. The pain was clear on the boy's face and Stefan knew he had heard them. Nikolas? Stefan said as he reached for his son but the boy ran off. Stefan cursed himself for not realizing that the truth would come out sooner rather than later. Chapter 8 Back to Monster Within |
