| Chapter 8: On the docks, Bobbie stood rooted in place. Where to go next? Bobbie wondered out loud. The lighthouse, until you figure out what to do, Kevin said in a warm and loving voice. He soon had them and their belongs loaded up in the cars and headed down the road. Lucky drove with Kevin, which gave them some time to talk. Bobbie and Lucas were in the other car and that talk didnt go too smoothly. Why are we leaving? Lucas asked his mother. It hard to explain, but Ill try. Bobbie said and she told the boy everything that she figured his young mind could understand. Wait? We left because of something Luckys mother wrote? It could be a lie. Lucas said in a very hurt tone of voice. He hated the idea of leaving Wyndemere. He liked living with the Cassadines and loved having someone around all the time. It wasnt a lie, Lucas. Stefan used me like he uses everyone else. Bobbie said coldly. I dont get it. You dont like dad and now you dont like Stefan. I sometimes feel that one day you will end up not liking me. Lucas said in a hurt voice. He turned his face from her and sat looking out the window in silence. Bobbie tried after that to get him to talk to her, but it was useless. She finally decided to give him time to think and then in a later time bring the subject up again. As the car pulled up in front of the lighthouse, Lucy came out to greet them. Kevin had called from the car and it hadnt taken Lucy long to get the two guestrooms ready. She even took the time to put Sigmoid in the bedroom. At least until they got a chance to introduce Foster to him. While Lucky took Lucas outside to explore the grounds with the dog, Bobbie sat down and told Kevin about her conversation with Lucas. Ill talk to him. Moving around is hard on kids sometimes. Have you thought about where you are going to go next? Kevin asked her. I dont know. I havent had a chance to think about it. I was wondering, what is this going to do to me in keeping custody of Lucky? I dont know. I will have to tell the judge and it is up to the courts to decide. I will recommend that you keep custody. I dont think loosing you will be good on him. Thanks and I hope it doesnt happen. It will be just one more thing that Lucky has a reason to hate Stefan for. Bobbie said and she got up and stood looking outside at the boys. You couldnt tell from looking at them that life for them hadnt been so cheerful lately because for the moment, they were just normal kids goofing off on a warm sunny day. She wanted more than that for both of them and to do it, she had to find a more permanent home for them. The problem was where they were going to live. Ari had informed Helena that Nikolas was sitting on the docks just a few yards from the yacht. She decided that a visit with her grandson was called for and it might help her cause to gain control over the family once again. As Helena walked toward Nikolas, she noticed something was definitely wrong. He looked sad, lost, and hurt and she wondered what Stefan had done to him this time. Helena sat down beside Nikolas and said in her most loving voice. Nikolas, Are you all right? Go away, Nikolas muttered softly. He wasnt in the mood to deal with any one, especially his grandmother. Please, Nikolas. I know you trust me and I dont blame you. It is Stefans lies that caused our rift. I just wish you would finally see through them, but I guess not, Helena said, her voice laced with pain as she got up and headed away. Hold on! Nikolas called out suddenly. He got up and walked towards her. She was right. He did hate his grandmother because of things his father told him. If Stefan lied about his mother, he could have lied about everything else. Helena stopped and looked expectedly at Nikolas, keeping up the act of the loving but hurt grandmother. You want something? Helena asked as he came closer. Yeah, I want to talk. I want to know you from your words, not his. Nikolas said and the two of them headed toward the yacht. You mean, he told you that he was your father? Helena asked. She was sitting in her chair on the yacht with Nikolas close by. He had told her everything that had happened the last few months and even told her of the plans to bring down Luke and his family. Yes, I believed him because that is I wanted to believe. Nikolas said sadly. I understand, Nikolas. Helena said in a calm voice but inside she was seething with anger. You lost your father at a young age and then your mother. You were hurt and Stefan used that against you. You are My Stavros' son and you will not forget it. I am going to make sure that your uncle pays for his crimes. He was the one that took your father from you and then your mother. I let him go far too long. Helena said as she let the hint of rage slip through her words. Dont kill him, Nikolas pleaded. He might be mad at Stefan but he never wanted him hurt. I am not the monster you uncle painted me out to be. I am only going to bring justice to the dead. Stefan is my son and I do care for him but sometimes-even people you care about need to be stopped. Stefan is one of those people. Helena said put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. Im sorry, I guess. I still buy his lies. I better go home. Nikolas said getting up but Helena stopped him No, you stay with me. I would never forgive myself if you got hurt because of this conversation. I will deal with Stefan and make sure you rights are protected. Helena said as she slowly guided him down to the lower decks on the yacht. Chapter 9 Back to Monster Within |
