Chapter 9

Helena got up an hour before sunrise and as soon as she vanished into her bathroom, Lucky bolted from the bed and out into the hall. He stood outside the door in a panic and unsure of where to go next then it hit him. Lucky walked directly to Nikolas' room and slowly opened the door. He then walked to his brother's bed and shook him awake.

"Nikolas!" Lucky whispered.

"Lucky?" came a sleepy voice of Nikolas as the boy opened one eye and starred up in puzzlement at his brother. "What are you doing here?"

"I woke up in Helena's room," Lucky stammered and then he started to shake uncontrollably.

Nikolas sat up and gently pulled his brother on to the bed. "It's ok," he said as he wrapped a warm arm around him. Nikolas wondered how long Lucky was going to be able to hold up with Helena playing her sick games with him. Nikolas hopes they were games and she really wasn't planning on sleeping with him. "Do you want to stay here?" Nikolas offered.

"Please? I need sleep, but I can't get it when I'm afraid that when I wake up. She'll be there," Lucky said in a shaky and tired voice. He was so close to loosing control that he was having trouble controlling his shaking. Nikolas saw this and he gently and slowly laid his brother down on the bed. He let Lucky have most of the room and in time the teen started to finally give in to sleep. Nikolas watched until he was sure that Lucky was truly asleep and then he got more settled and tried to sleep as well.

The two of them slept late in the day and it wasn't until the maid came in to clean Nikolas' room that either of them woke up. "Oh, I'm sorry," the maid said in a tight voice.

Nikolas sat up and looked at the clock. "No, it's all right. We should be getting up," Nikolas said to her and gently shock Lucky wake.

"What?" Lucky asked in a sleepy voice.

"Time to get up," Nikolas told him.

"Go away. I want to stay asleep," Lucky muttered sleepily as he rolled over and fell back to sleep.

Nikolas shook his head at his brother and got out of bed. The maid went about her business but Nikolas couldn't help but notice that every once in awhile she would look in Lucky's direction and shake her head back and forth. Nikolas brushed this off and went to take a shower.
It wasn't until Nikolas was coming out of the bathroom that he overheard two women talking. It was the two maids that took care of the rooms. They were talking quickly and in Greek but Nikolas didn't miss a word. "I caught them in bed together," the maid that woke them up said.

"So, they are sharing him. It isn't our business," the older maid said.

"Yes, but I thought his kind were not allowed up on these floors at least at this time of day," the younger one said.

"Normally, they aren't but that was in Mikkos day. Mrs. Cassadine has always dealt with her playthings differently. I remember one young man that got free rain on the house when the family wasn't around," the older maid said.

Nikolas lost control right then and stormed out of the bathroom in a rage. He woke up Lucky who just sat there dumbfoundly as he tried to figure out what was going on. "How dare you think those kinds of thoughts," Nikolas yelled at the two stunned young women. "Lucky is my brother. Not my grandmother's plaything or mine! I hear anyone say other wise and when this mess is cleared up, I will make sure that they loose their jobs and I promise you will not get good references from us. Now get out of my room and out of my face."

The two maids then ran from the room in a panic. Neither wanted to be around when or if Nikolas decided to act out his families very well know rage. Lucky, who still was trying to figure things out, sat on the bed and watched as his brother pace the room. Lucky was wondering if he should say anything or sit and wait for Nikolas to talk first. He knew that Nikolas rage had something to do with him but he couldn't figure out what? "Ah, Nikolas?" Lucky finally asked.

"What?" Nikolas snapped at his brother. Lucky jumped at this and Nikolas regretted his harsh words. He wasn't angry at Lucky but at what those women said about him and he wondered how many of the help here thought the same thing. "Lucky, I didn't mean that. I'm just upset at the moment," Nikolas told him as he sat down on the bed.

"I can see that," Lucky said as he moved toward his bother, "but what upset you?"

"They upset me," Nikolas said coldly as he pointed in the direction the two women vanished to.

"What were they talking about? I heard them but I didn't understand them," Lucky said.

"They were talking about you. They think we slept together," Nikolas told him and he blushed a little at the thought. It sickened him that someone could think that about him and Lucky, but what sickened him the most was that the women thought it was a normal thing for someone called Cassadine.

"We did," Lucky said but then hit him on Nikolas meant. "Do they think we are? You've got to be joking?" Lucky asked him in shock.

"No, I'm not kidding and they also think that you are Helena's play thing as well," Nikolas told him.

"Oh, great. How many of them think this?" Lucky asked Nikolas as his stomach was starting to do those flips again.

"I don't know but it is going to stop. Bad enough she puts you in the servant quarters and plays those games with you. Now everyone thinks that is what you're here for. I don't think so and I'm going to put a stop to it. NOW!" Nikolas told Lucky. He then got up off the bed and headed to find Helena. Lucky raced after him and tried to get him to stop but Nikolas was too angry and upset to stop. He was sick of watching Helena hurt his brother and not do anything about it. The two boys found Helena in her office and Nikolas didn't pause for a second before jumping down her throat. "Grandmother, I think we need to talk," Nikolas said to Helena with his eyes burning with rage.

"About what?" Helena asked him.

"About your treatment of my brother and what these people think he is here for," Nikolas snapped.

"Why do you think he is here for?" Helena asked as she looked up at him with a very calm and pleasing look on her face. Lucky didn't like her mood and wanted to stop but Nikolas wasn't listening to him. He just kept on going.

"We are here because you kidnapped us to get back at our mother and to make her and Lucky's father suffer. Lucky isn't your plaything and he should be treated just like me. So, I want his things moved to my room and I want you to leave him alone," Nikolas yelled.

Helena looked at him with ice cold eyes and slowly rose to her feet. Lucky tried to get Nikolas to back out of the room but he wouldn't move. He just stood there defiantly and waited for her answer. Helena walked right to him and slowly brought his face up to hers. "You have your grandfathers guts but to bad you don't have his brains. You want to be treated just like your brother. I think it is about time because your family has always been a joy to play with. I had the pleasure of sleeping with your grandfather, father, and soon uncle. I might even take you, but I don't know yet." Helena told him

"What are taking about?" Lucky asked as his mind raced to figure out things.

"Lucky? I thought you were smarter then this. I left a clue," Helena told him.

Lucky looked at her and tried to figure out what she was taking about but then it hit him, a picture of Bobbie, his father and Ruby. Lucky took a good long look at Nikolas and gasped. He might have dark hair and he did have a lot of Laura in him but there was something else. Nikolas was built like Luke from his height to the shape of his face. Lucky started breathing hard and fast. He was on the verge of a panic. All Helena did was stand there and smile at him. Nikolas looked at his brother to Helena but he was still in the dark. "I see Lucky finally got it but you are still in the dark. Well, Nikolas, I'll tell you what I mean," Helena said and she slowly moved away from him walked back to her desk and sat down. Lucky bent over and grabbed his stomach. The news of what he just figured out was too much for him and he was on the verge of finally going over the edge. Nikolas bent down and held his brother as he listened to Helena speak. "You are the son of Stefan Cassadine, but Stefan isn't really Cassadine. He is Luke Spencer's son."
