Chapter Thirteen Opened just a crack

Luke walked around back and found Lucky sitting on the back stoop with his
sketchpad in hand. What got him was that Lucky kept tapping his foot. There is
something off here. thought Luke.

Hi, Lucky. What did you have for supper. Luke asked sitting down beside him.

Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Mom left some on the stove for
you. he said still tapping his foot.

Luke could not figure out what was wrong. He acts like he is full off????
Suddenly it hit him. Lucky had a triple chocolate Sunday with chocolate syrup.
came Lauras words. Hes wired.

Luke picked up Lakes basketball that laid beside the stoop and headed toward
the basket. Come on Cowboy. Lets play?

Lucky looked up at him like he was crazy. I dont know how, he said.

Its been a long time for me too but lets give it a shot. What do you say? he
asked After two hours Lucky had beat Luke in two games. Lucky. Are you sure you
havent played this game? Luke asked.

Yes. Im just good at picking things up, he said. Or I get the $#%$% beat out
of me, he muttered under his breath.

Luke looked at him in surprise. Did you say something? he questioned.

I said I havent played this game be for. This is the first time I even saw a
basket ball. Lucky replied, taking another shot.

No. What did you say after that? asked Luke.

Nothing. Lucky whispered.

Hey, I thought we had a deal no more lies. Right. Luke said stopping in front
of him.

I said. I had to or get the ^&%^ beat out of me. Ok. snapped Lucky.

Well, You can show some emotion. I was beginning to wonder. Would you like to
talk about it? asked Luke, sitting down on the ground.

Lucky joined him but stayed out of arms reach. Im not allowed to make mistakes
or be better then the Cassadines. I dont know how to act. What are the rules
now? whispered Lucky.

Lucky, Everyone makes mistakes. If you mess up no one here is going to hurt you
and as for being below the Cassadines, they could not hold a candle to you.
Luke began. You want some rules. I have only one. You have a problem, dont
shut me out. There is nothing we cant handle together.

You wont hurt me if I mess up? he asked.

Lucky, I promise you this here and now. I will never lay a hand to you. No
matter what you do or say and I will never stop loving you. answered Luke.

Lucky believed him, for the time. He believed that he wasnt going to be hurt,
because he messed up. He rapped his arms around Luke and said, Thanks. Then he
ran into the house leaving Luke still sitting on the ground.
