Chapter Seven

Two weeks in the new penthouse and Lucky was finally getting used to the place.
He had spent a lot of time traveling place to place but this was the hardest
time he had adjusting. He knew it was the fact it was just him and Luke, but
finally the penthouse felt like a home. He was working on his schoolwork trying
to get done his summer school homework.

Lucky heard the doorbell and looked at his watch. Either Liz is early or Dad
forgot his keys again. Lucky wondered and got up to answer the door. He was
surprised to see Nikolas standing at the door looking at the guard down the
hall. Lucky noticed he looked nervous and decided to give him a break. Laura had
wrote him a letter in her will. Asking him to at least try and get a long with
Nikolas. They didnt have to be friends or brother but for her at least try
once. You want something, Cassadine? Lucky asked with his normal sarcastic
tone of voice.

Nikolas noticed this and relaxed a little bit. Can I come in? He asked looking
back at Johnny who was glaring at him.

Sure, Dont worry Johnny doesn't bite. Lucky said moving a side to let Nikolas
in. What do you want?

I came to ask if you would let me have few things of theirs to remember them
by. Nikolas asked tears in his eyes.

Lucky realized then he wasnt the only one hurting from their deaths and decided
at least for Laura and Lulus sake to try and get alone. Come on. I have time
to go through some things. Liz will not be hear for a least three hours. Lucky
walked to a closet and pulled out a box. Nikolas noticed the other and grabbed
it.

The two boys sat on the leather couch and went over the contents. Lucky opens a
photo album and said, Mom used to carry this carpet bag around everywhere we
went. Dad hates it. It had all of our memories and he used to get stuck carrying
it. It weighted a ton. Lucky said with a laugh.

Whos this? Nikolas asked point a picture of a kid hanging by his pants over a
dock.

Me. I caught a fish and dad caught me. I hate that picture. Mom, loved it and
showed it to everyone that would look at it. Lucky said with a smile. Nikolas
and Lucky talked and laughed at his past. Lucky gave Nikolas a few pictures of
Laura and Lu. Plus a few things from the house that they kept. You want more.
We can go to the warehouse sometime. You might find some there. Lucky offered.

Id like that and thanks, Lucky for not slamming to door in my face. I have
wanted to do this for while now but I didnt know how to ask. Nikolas said.

Nikolas, I have deal for you. Mom asked me to at least try and get along with
you. I am willing to do that but I want something for you. I wont dis Stefan
and you dont dis Dad. They are all we have now moms gone. Can you do that?
Lucky asked him.

Sure, Ill try. Nice place, a little cold isnt. Nikolas asked.

Cold. Have you looked at your house. Yes, its black, white and gray. Most of
this stuff is modern with all strait lines. It doesnt have a lot of clutter and
it doesn't need a lot of care for. Dad and me aren't the greatest house
keepers it cuts down on the dusting. We have someone coming in once a week to
clean real good. Lucky said.

I didnt mean anything by it. I was just wondering. Nikolas said.

I know. Aunt Bobbie keeps trying to color the place up. I like it and its how
we feel right now. We can add color when its time. Lucky said.

I know what you mean. Im going to the graveyard on mothers day. You want to
come with me? Uncle Stefan and Katherine are getting ready for their engagement
party and I dont want to go alone. Nikolas wondered.

Sure. Dad might join us but Ill talk to him. He owes me one. Lucky said.

You sure he will not mind? Nikolas asked.

Yes, Im sure. Lucky said. I hate to break up our talk but I have an hour to
get my school work done or I cant go on my date with Liz. Lucky said.

I thought school was out? Nikolas asked.

It is for everyone but me. I would not be going on with my grades if Sonny and
Dad didn't talk the school into giving me a break. Lucky said.

You want help. Nikolas offered.

Sure, if you dont mind. Lucky said and they sat at the dinning room table and
went over Luckys homework. They just got done when Liz arrived. Nikolas said
good bye and left them alone. Liz watched him leave and looked at Lucky in
shock. I know what youre thinking and your right. I have lost it. Im doing
this for mom and he lost her to. I will not hurt to try. I just have to find
away to tell dad.

Good luck. Youre going to need it. Liz said, You ready to go.

Yes. Lucky grabbed his coat and they left.

Mothers day

YOU WHAT? Luke yelled.

Dad, you said anything. Im going to try and be nice to him at least for mom.
He wont dis you and I dont dis Stefan. Can you at least be nice to him for
me? Lucky asked.

Kid, you know what youre asking? Luke said.

Yes, I know but he was moms son and she wanted this. I dont know if it will
work but I have to try. It doesn't and then I lost nothing. Lucky said.

You keep your guard up. I dont trust the Cassadines. Luke warned.

I will and thanks. Lucky said.

Luke walked out the door behind Lucky muttering. I lost my mind. I dont
believe Im doing this.

Nikolas let Luke say his peace with Laura and Lu alone. Luke walked away and
left the boys standing. He watched from the car wondering what the Cassadine kid
was up to. Lucky placed a dozen red roses on Lauras grave, a dozen yellow on
his grandmothers and a dozen white on Lus. Nikolas looked at him and asked,
Where did you get the money?

Dad bought them. There from the both of us. Lucky said.

Nik placed his flowers down and looked at the grave stone. You pick these out?
Nikolas asked.

No, Sonny did. We werent thinking straight. I have a question. Why didnt you
cry at all at the ceremony? Lucky asked him.

I did but you didnt see it. I was trying to show mom what kind of Cassadine I
could be but in fact all I wanted to do was do what you did and try and stop it.
I asked Uncle if it was some plot of grandmothers and he checked. He couldnt
find any proof. Nikolas said.

Sonny looked to, but found nothing. Lucky said. Lets go. I dont like
thinking of them this way. I want to picture them alive and the way they were.

The group left and headed back into town. Luke dropped the boys off at Rubys
and he went on to the club. He needed a drink after spending time in a car with
a Cassadine. Lucky watched him leave. He was proud of his father for at least
trying today. Lucky and Nikolas sat at a corner table talking. Luke didnt say
much but he didnt insult me either. How did you do it? Nikolas asked taking a
drink of his soda.

Dad and I had problems adjusting to the lose of mom and Lu. He spent a lot of
time drunk and I spent it alone. He felt guilty for acting the way he did and he
is trying to make it up to me. I asked him to do this and he is doing it. Lucky
said.

I didnt know. Why didnt you go to Bobbie? Nikolas asked.

I would have if Edward Quartermaine didnt say that I should be taken away from
dad until he gets his act together. I lost my mother and sister. I cant loose
him, too. Lucky said.

Lucky, I hope we can live together with out killing the each other. Luke and
Uncle Stefan will never get along but I dont think you have to worry about
anything from our end. Uncle wants to leave town after the wedding in a few
months. We are going back to Greece then. I will stop by every once in a while
to see you and Bobbie, that is if you dont mind. Nikolas said.

No, I dont mind, but why leave? Lucky asked.

Uncle thinks its for the best because of the reaction we got from the funeral.
He also wants to show Katherine the house and other holdings we have around the
world. Nikolas said.

When is the wedding? Lucky asked.

Sept 19th of this year. We will leave soon after that. Nikolas said.

We have all summer to get to know each other better. You and Robin want to join
me and Liz on a date sometime? Lucky asked.

Sure any time after the Bacchanalia. I will be busy until then. Say, you want
to come? Nikolas asked.

Nikolas, dont take this wrong but a Spencer at Cassadine Party. I dont think
it would be good idea. Anything goes wrong and Ill take the blame for it.
Lucky said.

Your right. Grandmother left town a few weeks ago and headed to god knows
where. Uncle cut off her funds until she left. I think she was ready for a
change of scenery. Nikolas said.

Great. I know dad will like to here that. Lucky said. I got to go Nikolas.
Ill see you sometime this week after your party. I am helping dad in the club
going over inventory. Lucky said and got up to leave. He was going to pay the
bill.

Ill get it. You can pay some other time. Nikolas said placing the money on
the table.

Thanks and Ill talk to you later. Lucky headed to the club.

~~~~~~~~~~
Luke was at his desk going over paper work when Lucky walked in. You have fun
with bat boy? Luke asked.
Dad, you promised. Lucky said. And have news for you. Helena left town and
isnt coming back. Stefan, Katherine, and Nikolas are leaving after the wedding.
I dont know about Alexis. Lucky said.
Youre kidding. I knew about Helena but the rest of the Cassadine family is
news to me. I think our luck has changed kid. Life around Port Chuckles might
get better after all. Luke said.
Lucky shook his head and tried to smile. He was glad the others were leaving but
he wished Nikolas didnt have to go. He was kind of hopping to get to know him
better, but he did have a few months to do that and you never know what might
happen afterwards.
