| Chapter Six Everyone stood in the living room with boxes and were shocked at the sight. Luke started for the door. He hadnt seen the place in awhile sober and want out. It wasnt the sight of Laura and Lu but what he did to the place. There were bottles of alcohol everywhere and he had trashed most of the stuff Laura had placed on the walls and shelves. Lucky grabbed him and said, I got sick of picking things up. You would just trash it again. I think I owe you more then Im sorry. I remember a lot what I did but not this. I didnt hit you or anything? Luke asked prying he didnt. No, You just got drunk and vented it out on the house. I went up stairs until the storm was over and pick you up where you passed out and take you to bed. You have been sleeping on the floor in my room since that night. Lucky said. Kid, I have been a jerk and Im sorry isnt enough. I cant change what I did, but I promise it would never happen again. Luke said. The looks he got from the others said, IT BETTER NOT. Loud and clear. They werent going to stand aside and let it happen. Luke was on his own if it did and he knew it. They cleaned up the mess and it took about an hour to find the house underneath it all. Over the next few days, they went through everything. The hardest rooms for all of them were Laura and Lus. Lucky refused to go anywhere near his little sisters room. He couldnt do it and walked away to help downstairs. Luke couldnt blame the kid and only spent ten minutes in the room himself. Bobbie knew the little girls death was going to be the worst for them to get over. She knew what it was like to loose a child but your lover as well. She couldnt even dream about it. She realized it was going to take a long time for them to finally put all of this past them. It took them all week but finally with a lot of work the house in Port Charles was closed up. Luke and Lucky put most of the stuff in storage until they felt like dealing with it. Luke called and had the house in Switzerland closed up as well. The stuff from that house would be added in storage when it arrived. Luke and Lucky ordered all most all new furniture for the penthouse. They wanted to make this place theirs not a memory of Laura or Lus. They did have a few things that were theirs through out the penthouse but it wasnt much. They were trying to keep their minds from dwelling on the past and working to the future. The last day before the house was locked up one more time. Luke and Lucky stood and looked around the empty house. Shes still her. Lucky said. I know and she all ways will be. Laura felt ghost her when we first arrived on the property and now her ghost will all ways be here. She loved this house but spent very little time in it. Your mother wanted to grow old and die here the two of us, but I guess God had other plans for us. Luke said. Come Cowboy. Lets get going. They locked up the house and climbed into the new car. Luke and Lucky pulled out of the drive and headed to a new life. (The next chapters are the first year with out Laura and Lulu.) Chapter 7 Go back to Goodbye Valentine |
