| Chapter One Switzerland --Valentines Day Laura stood at the car and said, Mother, come on. We have to go. I forgot to get Luke and Lucky something for Valentines Day. I have to get them something and mail today or they arent going to get them on time, Laura yelled. I am sorry, dear. I was having trouble finding my coat, Leslie said in a clipped tone of voice. It is all right, Laura said and helped her mother in the car. Lulu sat in the back, holding her horse and playing with the new necklace her brother got her. She liked the way it glistened in the sunlight. Laura drove down the steep hill. She was grateful the road was clear today but it looked like it was going to snow again. She had to hurry and get back before dark. Laura had spent the whole day shopping and she was tired. Keeping up with her mother and Lulu was a chore but it was worth it. Luke and Lucky were going to get the presents on time and she was hoping they liked them. Luke was a hard person to buy for on this holiday and Lucky was worse. She realized how long it had been since she saw them both and was going to call home as soon as she got back to the house. Laura turned a wide turn and suddenly she heard a loud rumble and then Lulu cried and Leslie screamed, Laura!!!!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Port Charles: Valentines Day. Lucky was getting dressed for school when he heard Luke yell, Foster you dumb mutt. Get out of my breakfast. I will feed you in a minute. Lucky couldnt help but laugh. Luke forgot to feed Foster last night and now he was getting even. Lucky walked down stairs and into the kitchen. He found Luke trying to keep Foster from his food and losing. Dad, you should have fed him last night and he wouldnt be bothering you now, Lucky said and grabbed the bag and shook it. Foster came running and Lucky dumped most of the bag in the bowl. We are almost out of dog food and I checked the cabinets last night. We have to go shopping soon. I know. Eat your breakfast. I have a list a mile long for the house and you promised me you would do laundry before the dance. I have no more shirts to wear but this one, Luke said. I will. Dad, when is mom coming home? I am beginning to miss her more and more. Your cooking is getting better but, Lucky said pulling a egg shell from his eggs, you still have a lot to learn. Watch it! Next week is your turn to cook. Luke said and looked at the wall clock. We'd better get going. I have a meeting with Sonny today about the club, Luke said. Lucky looked at his food and dumped it in the trash. I will get something at school, Lucky said. Luke glared at him but didnt say anything. Father and son ran out of the house and climbed into the pink beast. Luke tried to start it several times but nothing happen. Lucky looked at his father and said, Dad, I was going to ask for a new car on my sixteenth birthday but I think it is time to put this thing out of its misery. I think you're right, Luke said and they climbed out of the car. Lucky saw Sly drive by and he quickly flagged him down. I will see you tonight, Lucky said. Sly and Lucky drove on to school. Luke called Sonny and said he was going to be late and rescheduled the appointment. He added buying a new car to his list and called a cab. Luke left the house and a few minutes later a car pulled up and two people from the Red Cross went to the door. Realizing no one was home they looked at the clipboard and decided to go to Luckys school. I hate this part of the job, the lady said. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lucky was in Mr. Murtys English class. The Vice-Principal came to the door and Mr. Murty went outside and they talked in low tones. Everyone was wondering what was going on and Lucky was surprised when Mr. Murty called his name. Lucky, Mr. Hayes wants to see you in his office. What did I do? Lucky said. The Vice-Principal didnt like him and he was wondering if he got caught skipping his last class yesterday. Lucky, It isnt that. Please just follow him, Mr. Murty said, trying to hide the crack in his voice. Lucky didnt like the feeling he got but he got up and followed the Vice- Principal. Mr. Hayes closed the door and Lucky found two strange people waiting for him. Years on the run put him on alert. The lady stood up and she asked, Your name is Lucas Lorenzo Spencer Jr.? Yes. Whats going on? Lucky asked. We are from the Red Cross and we have been trying to get a hold of your father but we missed him. We got a call from Switzerland and we have the sad duty to inform you that your mother, grandmother, and little sister were killed in an avalanche yesterday, The lady said and tried to reach out to comfort him. Lucky backed up and felt his heart stop. No. They arent dead this is some kind of trick, Lucky said and slumped into the chair behind him. The two people from the Red Cross looked at each other and spoke to the teacher, Do you have any one to call beside the father? Lucky spoke up. Call 555-7894. Sonny will know where he is. You are lying. My family is alive and this is a Cassadine trick. Lucky words were full of hate and conviction. The three adults stared at him sadly and called the number. It wasnt until Mr. Hayes heard the voice on the other end that he realized who he was calling. He told Sonny the problem and waited for a reply. You fools. Tell Lucky I am on my way and if this is some game you're not going to like what I am going to do to you, Sonny said into the phone. Mr. Hayes hung up the phone and gulped. Getting threatened by the mob boss wasnt his idea of fun. Luckys friend was one reason the kid got away with everything he did around there, Hayes thought. Chapter 2 Go back to Goodbye Valentine |
