| Chapter Thirty Two While Helena appealed the sentence, the Spencers went on with their lives. Luke did call New York and Lucky was enrolled that next semester. He was learning quickly and started sending letters home to his parents almost every week. He also made some friends and Foster was even learning how to be his Seeing Eye dog. Lucky was coming home for the holidays and was excited to show off what he had learned. Luke and Laura learned a few things too while he was gone. They were expecting a child in the fall and were going to spring the news on the group at Thanksgiving. They were happy but didnt know what anyone else was going to say. Lucky walked into the house holding on to Foster guide lead. He called out, Hey, Im home is any one here? Nikolas was carrying the bags in and placed them down. He looked around for some sign of life. Laura burst into the room wiping her hands on a towel. Lucky, Nikolas, I didnt expect the two of you until tomorrow, she said and hugged both of them. We came a day early. I was sick of being away from my family, Lucky told her as they parted. Im glad. Hi, Foster. I have missed you, too, she said and pats him on the head. Nikolas take the bags up stairs and you, tell me everything. Laura pulled Lucky into the living room and sat him down in the chair. Mom. Im not helpless any more. I even can pick out clothes. You just have to help keep them in groups. I do the rest, Lucky told her. Im sorry. Old habit. Tell me more, Laura said. Lucky told Laura everything about the past three months. Mom, They gave me back my life. Im not afraid of walking down a street by myself. I can even read a book without any problems. I can only read the words but I still read. Doors are opening for me everyday. I still have a lot to learn and some day. I plan on going to collage. I used to think that I would end up depending on someone for everything but its that way any more. Now, I have a chose and I love it, Lucky told her. Nikolas walked down stairs holding Lulus hand and joined them in the living room. Whats been going on here? Nikolas asked her. Nothing much. How is the Cassadine Family? she asked avoiding his question. A pain. They have been griping for months now. I still have five more compounds to go through. I didnt know we had so much junk. When, I decided to see off some of our property and give the others some of their share, I didnt think they would start demanding everything, Nikolas said. You did, Lucky said with a laugh, but dont worry big brother. Im happy just being me. Nikolas slammed a pillow in his face and Laura watched the two of them play fighting around on the floor. Lulu jumped on top of both of them and started to tickle them. Lucky couldnt stop laughing. Nikolas realized he was really ticklish and attacked. Laura grabbed her camera and took a picture. She could help but smile at the sight of the three of them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Two days later Thanksgiving the Spencer family and all of their friends were there. Luke stood up and said, I have something to tell everyone before we begin eating. Laura and I are going to be parents again. She is do about eight months from now. Great. Lucky and Nikolas said at the same time. A new little brother or sister. Im not going to be the youngest any more, Lulu cried out and then suddenly she got really curious. Daddy. Where do babies come from? Luke was taking a drink and choked on it. Laura told her that she would tell her later and Luke was a little relieved. He remembered the time he had telling Lucky, who didnt believe anything but the truth. He hopped Laura would have a easier time at it with Lulu, but knew it that is what he gets for raising street smart kids. They ate and talked almost until one in the morning. Lulu was curled up on the couch and Luke carried her to bed. I think we need a bigger house, Luke softly said to Laura. I think so too. How about having Caine build onto this one. We can turn the garage into an apartment for Lucky and that way he can have some freedom and I wouldnt have to worry so much, Laura suggested. Great idea. Ill talk to him tomorrow about it but you have to promise not to smother Lucky so much anymore. Let the boy make his mistakes. You know what the teachers told us. Lucky will never learn anything if we smother him, Luke said as he placed Lulu in her bed. Ill try but it is so hard. I just want to protect him for the rest of his life, Laura said. Angel. We arent going to be around that long. What happens to him then? We will not be there to protect him and Lucky isnt able to survive on his own? Luke asked her. I know your right and I promise to back down a little bit, but I will not walk away from him completely, Laura said and headed into the bathroom. Luke shook his head and realized that she wasnt going to let up too much. Lucky was going to have a fight on his hands getting her to let go. Chapter 33 Back to Angels Lend A Helping Hand index |
