| Chapter Twenty Six Peter Caine and V were going over the evidence from the trial and tried to figure out what everyone missed. "V, where is the drug tests they did on Miss Bells brain cavity?" he asked. "Her what?" V asked him. "Her brain. V, haven't you ever worked on a murder before? They do tests on the brain to discover how people die. Most examiners even keep the brains of especially violent or strange brain tissue," Peter told her. "You're pulling my leg, right?" V asked. The thought sickened her just a little. "No. Didn't they do a test on the brain at all?" Peter asked. "No," she said. "Lets go. Grab your coat. I think I know a way to prove that Miss Bell died from other means then that fall," Peter Caine said and grabbed his coat. Both detectives headed out the door and to the morgue. V still wasn't sure what he wanted but she had a bet her stomach wasn't going to like it at all. ~~~~~~~~~~ Lucky walked into the door and headed to his room. Caine was working on the railing and stopped his new pupil. "How did the visit go?" Caine asked him. "Strange," Lucky said and started up the stairs. "You met her didn't you?" Caine asked. Lucky turned around in shock and stared out in space with a look of surprise on his face. "How did you know?" Lucky asked him. "You have that look about you. Tell me what she said," Caine asked him and gently guided him to a chair in the living room. "She said I was Stefan's son and that it was up to me to end this war. Caine, I know I should be more upset than this, but I'm not. I don't understand it myself. Lizzie was right. This war has gone on long enough and too many people have been hurt. But how am I going to end this war? My father, or Luke will never understand and if Lizzie is right, and Stefan is my father, Luke will never love me again," Lucky said, with a lot of pain his voice. "Lucky, Luke will always love you. You can't stop loving someone because of what blood a person has in their veins or who they are related to," Caine told him. "You don't know my father," Lucky said. "I know your father and I will always love you. No matter who put you on this earth. I raised you and you are my son," Luke said and sat down beside Lucky. Lucky turned his head at the sound of Luke's voice. "You knew?" he asked. "Yes, an angel told me," Luke said and tried to think of way to tell him without sounding nuts. "You, too." Lucky said. "Yes, but my angel wasn't Lizzie. I got the angel of death," Luke said with a little uncertainty in his voice. "You didn't?" Lucky asked him and tried not to laugh. "I did and don't laugh. He said he would arrange a nice warm spot for me if I didn't accept everything about you and he meant about Stefan. I don't like it but I will accept it. He said you were a gift from God and I shouldn't shun a gift like that. He was right and I can't stop loving you because of what you or what I can't control. We just have to think of a way to protect you from Helena. She is the one that should be taken down and afterwards, we will deal with the other. I don't know how yet but we'll do it together," Luke said putting an arm around his son. Caine watched from the back ground and smiled. He knew the two of them were going to be all right. He also knew things were just about to get really interesting. Caine went back to work and left Luke and Lucky to talk about things. ~~~~~~~~~~ Luke stood in the shadows of the docks and thought about what he was about to do. He didn't want to but the alternative wasn't very appealing to him. Spending eternity in hell with Mikkos wasn't his idea of fun. Luke walked up to the door of Wyndemere and knocked. Stefan and Alexis got most of what Kermit did back on track at least their part. Helena was still out in the cold and they liked it that way. Alexis opened the door and was surprised to see Luke standing there. "What are you doing here?" she asked. "Not for you sweet heart. I have to talk to Stiffy and tell him it is about Monica and Katherine." Luke said and forced his way into the house. Alexis went to get Stefan. She didn't want to, but Luke was determined and she was trying to figure out how he got out of jail. Something was up and she didn't want to miss anything. Stefan stormed into the room and demanded, "What are you doing here and what are you talking about?" He yelled. "Sit down and shut up," Luke said handing him a file. "I know about Helena's threat and about Nik being your son, but what you don't know is that Monica Robertson gave birth to your child sixteen years ago. I know where he is," Luke said waiting for a reply. "Where?" Stefan asked. "We have to make a deal first. You let the boy decide how to handle this and we work on getting rid of your mother together," Luke said going to the cigar box and took one out and lit it. "Agreed. Where is my son?" Stefan demanded. "You mean my son," Luke said flatly. Stefan stared at him and then suddenly realized who he meant. "Oh, my God. Lucky is Monica's child." Stefan said softly. "You got it. He has enough to deal with, since your mother blinded him. You'd better not make matters worse or I don't care who I promised what," Luke threatened. "I would never do that, but I do have the right to get to know my own child," Stefan said, getting up and faced Luke. "We get rid of Helena first and then, if Lucky wants to, I will not stand in your way but don't ever think you can take him from me. I will not stand for it," Luke said and moved a few feet closer. Alexis stood back and watched. She realized what just took place and worried about Lucky's safety if Helena found out about him. She knew that Helena didn't like or accept Monica and what Helena was capable of doing to any child from such a union Alexis hoped these two were ready to defend Lucky with their lives, because things were going to get interesting.
