| Chapter Eighteen Laura looked at Luke with a look of uneasiness in her eyes. Luke are you sure this Caine is all right? she asked him. Laura. Kermit wouldnt send anyone who could not help us and Jason is watching out for you for me. Any trouble and he will step in. So, dont worry and come and see me a lot. I hate being separated from you and the family. Luke said wrapping his arms around her. I know and take care of yourself. she said. I deserve this, Laura. An innocent woman died because of my plan. She would be alive today if I wouldnt have gone after Helena. Luke told her. Luke. Katherines death was an accident. You might have loosened the railing but she was up there for reason you could not have controlled. You were trying to protect Lucky. So, dont blame yourself for being human. Even you cant control other peoples destiny. Laura said. Luke leaned over to kiss her when Mac walked in. Luke. Im sorry it is time to go, he said. Bubba, you have perfect timing. Luke said kissing his wife good bye and headed out the door. Mac looked at Laura and smiled then followed Luke. Laura left the police station and headed home. When she arrived, Laura found Nikolas reading from Luckys history book and Lu was trying to get Caine to break his mediation trance. Nik looked up from the book when she walked into the room. Hi. Im glad your here. Ill make us some lunch. she said and headed toward the kitchen. Lucky started the tape and Laura froze as the words sunk in. Oh, my God. she said. Why didnt you tell me? Nikolas asked her getting up from the table. I was going to but if Helena found out. She would have killed all of us. I guess that is what she has in mind. Laura said slow sinking into one of the kitchen chairs. Dad doesn't know? Lucky asked her. No. He doesn't even know about Stefan. I never told him and Stefan threaten if I didnt leave town. He would have told your father. I left thinking that this was the right thing to do. I was wrong and now things have gone to far. We are dead, she said. No. Things are not as bad as they seem. My son and Kermit are coming to help and I know Helena isnt going to make her move anytime soon. You made mistakes every parent does. We are human and your children have to realize that. Caine said looking at both Nikolas and Lucky. But she should have told me the truth. Nikolas said in his defense. The truth is not always the best certainly when you are trying to protect your family. Caine said. Nikolas turned and started to walk out. Lucky called to him. Dont go. You cant blame her for everything. I know because if I would have listened Lizzie would be alive. Lucky said as he heard his brothers footsteps. Lucky. Lizzies death wasnt your fault. Laura said. Yes it was. I should have faced my problems but instead I ran and she got hurt because of me. You cant convince me other wise, he said. Laura looked at both her sons and started to cry. She was tired of all the lies and the hate. All the fighting had to stop. People are getting hurt because of this war. The one person who should pay was Helena and she seamed to have nine lives. Caine motioned for Nikolas to join him on the porch. When the two were outside Caine spoke. Is your grandmother the type of person to take lightly? he asked. No. She is capable of anything. Nikolas said. Do you think your mothers fears are rightly place? Caine asked. Yes but she should have told me. Nikolas said. She was protecting you the best way she could. All the truth would have done was cause more trouble. You might want to try and put yourself in her place. Caine told Nikolas. Nikolas stood on the porch for along time thinking over what Caine had said. He was like everyone else. He was trying to force her to chose between the Spencers and him and she shouldnt have to. Laura had enough love for all of them. They just need to start working on forgetting the past. Nikolas walked inside to make emends. Two glowing figures were watching the boy from the sidelines. Im glad he started to realize all of that. Monica said to Tess. I am too, but things are not over with yet. Lucky still hasnt forgiven himself and Audrey is not letting go either. Then there is Mrs. Cassadine. She is going to try and cause trouble. Tess said. Are Caines friends able to handle the trouble? Monica asked. Caine and his friends are going to handle Mrs. Cassadine and the Spencers are going to learn how to forgive. We just have to stick close and make sure no other innocent person gets hurt. Tess said. Chapter 19 Go back to Angel Lends a Helping Hand! |
