~ Nothing More ~

"Lance?" Where did he go? "Lance, baby, where are you hiding? It's time to go over to Justin's..." I shake my head, wondering if I really want to go. It's a rainy, miserable night, and I don't feel like socializing. Of course, it would be Christmas Eve...Lance's parent's are coming in early tomorrow morning, and Justin's having a Christmas Eve party. So we're going to that for a bit, but it seems my boyfriend has gone missing. "Lance..." He must be upstairs...The ringing of the phone interrupts the search for my little blond friend. "Hello?"

"Hey, C, you comin, or what? You're missin' the party!" Justin, predictably.

"Hey, Ju," I say, looking under the couch. Under the couch? What the hell would Lance be doing under the couch? "Idiot," I mutter.

"What's that?"

"Nothing," I say. "Hey, Justin, I'll be over as soon as I can, but..." my voice trails off as I look from room to room. Damn Lance for wanting a big house. "I just can't find..."

"What, your shoes? Keys? My present?"

"You ain't getting your present til tomorrow, JuJu," I retort. "No, I can't find Lance."

"What? You lost your boyfriend? Man, I know you're absent minded and all, but to lose a person is kind of irresponsible...not to mention stupid, dumb, practically impossible--"

"Thanks, Justin." Leave it to Bleach Boy to brighten my day. Though now that he mentions it, my keys have got to be around here somewhere...maybe they're under the couch. No, you're looking for Lance, not your keys. How the hell did I lose Lance? He was down here like, an hour ago...or was it two? I really need to start paying attention to him more...

Oh, wait, there he is! He's sleeping... "Hey, Just?"

"Yeah, C?"

"Count on us being a little later than we planned. Like an hour or two more, maybe..." I can't wake him up now!

"What, you still can't find him?" Justin snickers.

"No, I found him," I say. "I just don't want to wake him up. He's sleeping. He's so cute when--"

Something that slightly resembles a groan comes though. "All right, Jace," Justin says. "Just...show up when Lance wakes up, aight?" I can hear the smile in his voice.

"Yeah, okay," I say.

"See ya, C." I can hear him muttering...what's that? I'm not whipped! Well, maybe just a little...

I walk into our bedroom. He's at the window. He insisted upon getting a big window so we could "get one of those window seat thingys." Well, now he's sleeping on our "window seat thingy." I sigh. I can't wake him up. He's so adorable when he sleeps. He's so relaxed right now. I walk forward, careful to keep my distance. If I get too close, he'll sense it or something and wake up. He doesn't like people staring at him while he sleeps, well except me in bed, he doesn't mind that too much, apparently. But anywhere else and he'll wake up. Weird.

I don't want him to wake up, he was up all night doing business stuff. He's adorable when he sleeps, have I mentioned that? His eyelids are fluttering and he's got this cute little smile on his face. I wonder what he's dreaming about. I should leave him alone. I turn around and am about to walk out the door when his sleepy voice calls my name.

"Josh?"

"What?"

"Where are you going?"

I smile. He looks so cute and childlike when he first wakes up. "I was going back downstairs so you could sleep."

He shakes his head. "Stay here."

I walk back in the room, shutting the door behind me. "All right."

"Come here," he says. Well, it's more like orders. He yawns and stretches a bit while I walk over. "Sit down." Demanding today, Lance?

"What? Lance, Justin's party--"

"Shh. Lay down."

I sigh and concede, and he pulls me into his lap. I rest my head against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. I sigh again. "Babe, Justin wanted us to go--"

"What's wrong?"

Is he still tired or something? "Nothing. I just said that Justin's--"

"No, there's something wrong. What's the matter?"

How he does this I'll never know. "Noth--"

"Stop that."

I sigh again, turning my head, pressing my forehead into his chest, but I can still hear his heart. He raises an arm and starts running his hand through my hair. God, I love it when he does that.

"It's just that...I don't know. I miss Tyler. Why is this fine with my parents and Heather but not him? And I don't really feel like seeing everybody tonight, and it's raining. It's supposed to snow on Christmas Eve, not rain."

To his credit, he lets me rant. "Josh, I don't know what to tell you about Ty, but I'm sure he'll come around soon. As for the people, we don't have to go. I'm sure Justin'll understand. And as for the rain...well...why do you think I fell asleep?"

I pull my head away from his chest a little. "Huh?"

He smiles. "You've been talking about how annoying the rain is. But listen to it."

He's got to be tired, still, my adorable boyfriend. He's tired. "So what? I can hear it. I've been hearing it."

"No," he says, "Listen." He still has a hand in my hair and the other moves to my back and starts rubbing it in small circles.

"I don't--" I stop when he tugs on my hair a little and listen with a sigh.

"Can't you hear it? It's relaxing."

He's kinda right. It's got a nice rhythm to it. And now I'm sort of sleepy. I twist my head up and smile at him. He smiles back. God, I love his smile. The real "Lance smile," not the one he does in all the photoshoots, though sometimes it peaks through. Sometimes I smile just to see him smile back.

These are the times I love, when it's just him and me and no one else. And now I'm lying with him and listening to the rain and I think it's the most beautiful thing in the world.

"Josh?"

"Hmm?"

"You see what I mean now?"

I smile at him, and he smiles back again. "Yeah," I say. "I like listening to the rain."

"Even on Christmas Eve?"

"Even on Christmas Eve," I concede. "Though I'd still prefer snow."

"Snow is too cold," he says. "I like the rain better."

"But the snow is prettier," I counter. "It's all white and stuff."

"You're so descriptive."

"You love it."

"Yup, I do. Hey, guess what," he says.

"What?"

"We don't have to go to the party if you don't want to. I know we're both tired and have an early day." I smile at him. "And guess what else?"

"What?" I ask again.

Lance points up. "We've been under the mistletoe for quite some time and I haven't gotten my kiss from you yet."

"Huh?" I look up to where he's pointing, and sure enough, the little bugger has hung up some mistletoe. "Well, I guess there's only one thing to do," I tell him.

"What's that?" he teases.

I pull his head down to meet my lips, feeling the electricity running through our bodies at the touch. I suck his lower lip into my mouth and hear him moan a little bit. I pull away with a smile. "That," I say.

"Wow," he says a little breathless. I smile and snuggle up against his chest. He wraps his arms around me and leans back. I sigh happily. This, right here, this is perfection, heaven, one of the things I know I'll remember forever. They way he's managed to brighten my Christmas Eve...

Everything I need is right here. I just need to be with him. Nothing more, nothing less. The party is forgotten, Tyler is forgotten. The rain is lulling us both to sleep. Times like these make me feel like the luckiest man in the world...nothing else is needed, I don't want anything else. Just lying in Lance's arms, forever.

Edwin McCain ~ I Could Not Ask for More

Lying here with you, listening to the rain
Smiling just to see the smile upon your face
These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments I'll remember all my life

I found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more

Looking in your eyes, seeing all I need
Everything you are is everything to me
These are the moments I know heaven must exist
These are the moments I know all I need is this

I have all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more

I could not ask for more than this time together
I could not ask for more than this time with you
Every prayer has been answered
Every dream I have's come true

And right here in this moment
Is right where I'm meant to be
Here with you here with me

These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments I'll remember all my life
I've got all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more

I could not ask for more than this time together
I could not ask for more than this time with you
Every prayer has been answered
Every dream I have's come true

And right here in this moment
Is right where I'm meant to be
Here with you here with me

I could not ask for more than the love you give me
'Coz it's all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more
I could not ask for more.
