* LEAP stands for Leadership Education Adventure Program
* Student developed and student run
* LEAP has been around since 1979
* We take local youth on backpacking and rock climbing trips, challenge courses and day hikes
* Provide gear for use by our participants
* We work with pre-existing youth organizations in Humboldt county
* We operate out of Youth Educational Services a non profit organization on campus at Humboldt State, receive funding from AS, United Way, the state and our annual Serve-a-thon fundraiser, and are insured through Campfire USA

* Provides quality outdoor adventure experiences to Humboldt county youth at a minimal cost
* Promotes cooperation and understanding
* Provides a safe learning environment
* Exposes youth to activities they may not otherwise become involved with
* Shows kids that they can achieve any goal they put their mind to by challenging their perceived limitations
* Provides positive role models
* Provides youth with assets such as Support, Empowerment, Boundaries and Expectations, and Constructive use of time.
