CAFFEINE

I have been married for 31 years, and life with me is anything but dull. I have been blessed with a daughter, Cindy, and two sons, Keith and Brian.

Cindy is married to a craftsman, Dug, and they turned me into a grandpa when they were blessed with Katie. Cindy completed college while a working mom, and is now teaching..quite an accomplishment that makes me proud. Keith married his high school classmate, Carrie, and just to prove that he is a chip off the old block, married on September 10th, the date that the National Weather Service has marked as the height of the hurricane season. Their honeymoon was a Disney package to Disney World, which was interrupted by Hurricane Floyd, which closed Disney World for the first time in Disney history. Their Disney Cruise was also detoured from the Bahamas due to the hurricane damage, and redirected to the Florida Keys, where another storm developed. To complete the experience, the newlyweds had to be advised on the way home from the airport that their new apartment of two weeks went under water in the record breaking flooding that followed Hurricane Floyd in New Jersey. Keith attended college in Pennsylvania, completed police academy training there, and hopes to pursue a career in law enforcement ( could have sworn I taught him better than that). Brian has excelled in academics and in sports, playing soccer, and running track. He has also become an accomplished musician, though I do wonder at times just what he is playing in the Heavy Metal arena. Now he is a junior in High School, and has taken to the roads in his own car.

I spent 21 years living in and working on a 12 room Victorian, ca.1878, which made me want to loan it to "This Old House" for the free labor. I felt as though I were living in the movie set for "The Money Pit." Feeling the need for a change, we left that abode for a newer model, ca. 1890's 11 room farm house, on 3/4+ acre, with outbuildings. This one was better cared for over the years, and requires far less time and resources to maintain. In line with home renovations and repairs, I tend to like to accumulate tools (the furnace repairman once asked if I sell hardware from my basement), and love to give new life to anything old through tinkering. I also have an attraction to old cars, having a 1964 Pontiac GTO that was inherited from my mom (the little old lady from Pasadena). My son has a '67 Firebird 400 Convertible, and the son-in-law procured a '69 Charger (I do wonder where these kids get these ideas).

As may be evident from this website, I have developed an attraction to computers, and admit that I can spend too much time playing. My first computer was a 486 that I built with the help of my computer guru friend. That thing ran at a screaming 65mhz, and even I cant believe what I got done with that. When got into the internet and created my first home page, I taught myself HTML, having found online homepage generators to not yield what I desired. Even today I find myself more comfortable working from scratch than using web page programssheesh, a modernized oldtimer!! An unexpected result of an online presence has been contact with past Plainfield Officers, and the requests that I have received for any information I might be able to provide for relatives of past Plainfield Officers. I have managed to help a few, and in one case identified and located an entire branch of a family tree for a family member in Europe. You never know where things will end up in life.

Another element of my personal life relates to the Great State of Maine, where we have a small blueberry farm that overlooks Englishman's Bay in Washington County, Maine. Yep, we do cultivate and grow those things called "Maine Wild Blueberries," commonly referred to as the low bush variety, which are raked by hand. They eventually end up in your home in muffins, mixes, and scads of other products. We vacation up there in the summer, usually during the harvest season, and while I tend to work like a fool when up there, it is truly a therapeutic vacation, with the pace of life, sea breezes, spectacular views, and the great folks up there. Check the Blueberry links , as the information tis interesting!!
