Flyers News and Notes
The Flyers are the 2008-09 Sask West Hockey League Champs! The Flyers swept the favoured first place Eston Ramblers in the final, after sweeping the Macklin Mohawks in the semi-final and winning all but one in their first round series against the 7th place Unity Miners. In the Regular Season the Flyers had a 17-7 record, good enough for 2nd place in the Sask West Hockey League Standings.
The Flyers skipped the first round of the S.A.H.A. Senior "A" playoffs with a bye. In the second round the Flyers beat the Avonlea Arrows two game to none in a best of three series. Leader won game one in Avonles 4-3 in Overtime. Colton Wagman got 2 goals including the Overtime winner, while B.J. Becker and Ken Dzikowski tallied the other markers. The Flyers won game two at home 6-3 over Avonlea. Colton Wagman had two goals, Mike Wiesgerber one, Sheldon Moser one and I am not completely sure about the other two.
The Leader Flyers lost their third Round S.A.H.A. Provincials battle with the Milestone Flyers two games to none.
Leader added 3 players to their roster for provincials: Tyler Resch, Ken Dzikowski and Lorne Toews.
