Has anyone heard of "the letter game?" In case you haven't, Caroline Stevermer describes it in this way- "I don't know who invented the Letter Game (which I have heard called Persona Letters, or even Ghost letters) . . . I believe it originated as an acting exercise, one character writing a letter "in persona" to another. The game has no rules, except that players must never reveal their idea of the plot to one another. It helps to imply in the first letter why the two characters must write to each other and not meet in person." "Sorcery and Cecelia" is an example of that letter game. In this book, Patricia C. Wrede writes Cecelia, or "Cecy," and Caroline Stevermer writes as Kate. It's set in London in 1817. The storyline is amazing and unpredictable. I love how Kate and Cecy's stories intertwine and end up majorly affecting each other in the end. Not to mention fantasy, but this book is full of magic. This is one of those read-until-you're-finished-no-matter-how-long-it-takes-because-if-you-don't-finish-soon-you'll-die-of-suspense types of books. The dramatic climax has you on the edge of the seat, and you heave a great sigh of relief when everything turns out all right. Reading this book was a magical experience. I also recommend any other books by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer; they're amazing too!

The Grand Tour, or the Purloined Coronation Regalia: Being a Revelation of Matters of High Confidentiality and Greatest Importance, Including Extracts from the Intimate Diary of a Noblewoman and the Sworn Testimony of a Lady of Quality I love these excessively long titles. Anyway "The Grand Tour" is the follow-up to "Sorcery and Cecelia," and is just as wonderful. Both books are the kind that make you sad when they're over; not because they're sad books, but because

| they're so great that you don't want them to end. The book apparently has two covers: The one on the left is the hardcover edition, the one on the right is the paperback edition. On Amazon.com, the paperback cover seems to have greenish tinge, but it doesn't on Barnes & Noble.com. Intriguing, isn't it? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Mislaid Magician or Ten Years After: Being the Private Correspondence Between Two Prominent Families Regarding a Scandal Touching the Highest Levels of Government and the Security of the Realm Tee hee...long title again. Now, I haven't read this one yet. Why, you ask? BECAUSE IT'S NOT OUT YET!!! *sigh* Why do I have to wait until the fall for all these new books to come out? Why can't the release anything good over the summer. Yes, yes, I know, they released Harry Potter Six last summer, but that was like the only thing. Anyway, this book is scheduled to come out November 1, 2006. I can't wait!

Book description courtesy of Amazon.com "Ten years have passed since Kate and Cecy married Thomas and James, and England is now being transformed by the first railways. When the Duke of Wellington asks James to look into the sudden disappearance of a German railway engineer, James and Cecy's search reveals a shocking truth: The railway lines are wreaking havoc with ancient underground magic, which could endanger the very unity of England. Meanwhile, Kate has her hands full taking care of all their children, not to mention the mysterious mute girl they rescued from a kidnapper! Written in letters between Kate and Cecy--and between their husbands--this installment of the cousins' adventures is another satisfying blend of magic, mystery, adventure, humor, and romance." Well this is different. We've never gotten letters between James and Thomas before...cool. Hey, isn't the Duke of Wellington a real person? The one who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo? Hmmm...*Sophie strokes imaginary beard pensively*
