Brigham Young made this statement in the 1873 version of the Journal of Discourses, vol. 16, p. 46. Many people see this as a challenge that will show that the religion of the Latter-day Saints is in line with the Bible. Actually, it means just the opposite! What he is actually saying is that if the Bible is not in line with the religion of Latter-day Saints, then the Bible must be false!
"We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God."

Note the special wording regarding the Bible in this article. As a Christian, of course I agree; I do not want a Bible that is translated incorrectly. But how does one know if their Bible is or is not translated correctly? We will explore that question here.
Also note that the Book of Mormon is not required by this article to be translated correctly. This is an interesting and significant ommission. Especially in light of the fact that there have in fact been thousands of changes made to the Book of Mormon since it was first published by Joseph Smith. To read more on this subject, click HERE.
