About This Site

Latter-day Saint Democrats Online was created to serve as a political forum for members of the Democratic Party who are also members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Our site aims to

• provide ongoing intelligent dialogue about political issues in the United States from the unique perspective of the gospel
• provide a friendly, pro-LDS meeting place for Democrats to connect with one another and make new friends
• educate Church members on Democratic positions, and serve as an alternative

source of information in the greater internet dialogue of predominantly conservative Christian political sites
• discuss political issues without fear of being vilified, and without vilifying our opponents.  While we encourage discussion and lively debate, and expect that to include constructive criticism, we also expect participants to refrain from reducing their criticism to name-calling, character attacks, or any other type of disparaging or offensive communication

We believe that faithful, intelligent, God-loving people can disagree about political issues and that this is okay and even desirable; in fact, this disagreement and discussion is an essential part of our God-inspired democracy.

Latter-day Saint Democrats welcomes all Democrats, regardless of their religious beliefs (or lack thereof), to participate in our site, submit opinions and articles, and post on our bulletin board.  We do not discourage dialogue and debate from other political parties, but do ask that all particpants be respectful to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and respectful in their criticism of opposing political parties.
