I'm a big fan of both SheDaisy and the Dixie Chicks. I hate it when people say that SheDaisy are nothing but Dixie Chicks wannabes. It's as if there isn't enough room in Nashville for two girl groups. Personally, I would buy a lot more CDs if there were a lot more girl groups. More than 450 girl groups had a song on the U.S. and U.K. national charts between 1960 and 1966! Girl Groups.com

The truth is that the two groups create very different music. They each developed their own unique style and sound long before most of us ever heard of them. SheDaisy focuses on creating unusual, complex harmonies. Their sound is very "pop-heavy." Conversely, the Dixie Chicks are passionately dedicated to a traditional blue-grass sound. Their harmonies are less interesting than their powerfully exciting live performances.

The purpose of this web page is to celebrate both groups, while highlighting their differences.

SheDaisy started out singing at neighborhood concerts, senior centers and county fairs in Magma and Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved to Nashville in 1989 working at the mall while they tried to "break in" to the music industry. They signed their first record deal 10 years (1998) later with Lyric Street. Dixie Chicks started out in 1989 playing in Dallas on the street and in clubs. They made it to Nashville in 1991 appearing on The Grand Ole Opry & TNN's Nashville Now. They signed their first record deal six years later with Sony (Monument) for 6 albums.

the controversies
Shedaisy's first single release from its new Knock On The Sky album, "Get Over Yourself," was released to radio in the spring and then pulled from radio just weeks later after stations complained that the song was "man-bashing." In response, the trio and its record label stopped pushing the song and released another single from the album called "Mine All Mine," which reached Number 37 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. While they were in agreement to pull the song, all three Osborn sisters contest that the song was not man-bashing in any way. Kelsi explained, "It was inspired by a female actually, an encounter Kristyn had, so it has nothing to do with men, it never mentions a he." Yahoo News "Just days before the bombing began in Iraq, singer Natalie Maines spoke out against the president. "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas," she told fans in London. Maines later apologized, saying her remark was "disrespectful." But country radio stations across the country yanked the trio from play lists, while some protesters resorted to publicly trashing their CDs to demonstrate against the singers' perceived lack of patriotism.
