| Inch Strand on Dingle Bay Sunday, 4/25/04 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Beaches are called 'strand' in Ireland. The Inch Strand located on R561 is a long sand dune that extends 4 miles into the Dingle Bay from the Dingle Peninsula. It is a very popular beach in Summertime, but we shared the beach with only a few surfers and dog walkers.

Debbie walking South along the Inch Strand with Macgillycuddy's Reeks on the Kerry Way in the background. The strand was a great walking beach without a stone in sight. There were a few nondescript shells near the high tide line but nothing very exciting.

Surf's Up at the strand! Well not very, but there were 5 or 6 surfers in wet suits trying to catch some rides. A few of them got up for a short time.

I happened to notice this colorful pub as we passed thru the town of Dingle and snapped a photo thru the windshield. The Small Bridge Pub features traditional culture and music. They have their own website: www.thesmallbridge.com Note the smokers on the sidewalk. As of April 1 (April Fools!) of this year Ireland banned smoking from all public places.
