| On R559 near the town of Fahan on Dingle Bay we visited ancient stones forts and beehive huts before heading further West to Slea Head, the Great Blasket Island Center and Mulcahy's Pottery in Ballyferriter. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Julia at ancient beehive stone hut built by prehistoric peoples. There was a cluster of several huts with a stone wall enclosure built around them that created a large courtyard area. The beehive huts are on a farmer's property; they charge a small fee to enter the field. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

Kevin exploring Dunbeg Fort ruins on Dingle Bay which dates from approx. 500 B.C. In background is Eagle Mt covered by fog. The fog saved us from having to climb the mountain. Given our pasture crossing woes climbing Mt Errisbeg, this was probably a good thing. On a clear day there are great views of Dingle Bay and the Blasket Islands from the summit. |
