POETRY FOR KAREN

The Last Farewell by Gene Sword

This poem was published in the Crown of Texas Hospice newsletter shortly after it was written. It perfectly is Karen's good-by to me and was written on what would have been our 29th anniversary.

I have made several unsuccessful attmpts to contact the author and have decided to publish without permission. If he, or anyone knowing how to contact him, will e-mail me, I will gladly correct the situation.

The Storm has Passed by Lowell Hendrix

After seeing "The Last Farewell", I knew I had to write something in response, although I'm not given to writing poetry. I attended a GROWW (see links page) gathering after Thanksgiving in Panama City, FL and on my last morning there I took a long walk on the beach at dawn. The sights, sounds, and emotions came together, and I jotted down some notes when I returned to my hotel room. This poem finally "came together" in January, 1999.

In Loving Memory of Karen by 'Bobbie' Hendrix

This poem was given to me by my mother when she joined me and my children for Thanksgiving, 1998. It helps to illustrate Karen's giving nature.
