MORE "CLONE" DOLLS
Return to Home Page
This page features more "clone" dolls I have identified. I felt it would be simpler and easier to see the dolls by grouping just a few on each page. We're still sticking with clones that were produced in the early 1970's.
CINDI JOY by MORT ALEXANDER
The Cindi Joy doll was another clone doll that, like the Diana dolls, underwent changes in her appearance. The first-issue Cindi Joy dolls looked very much like the Debbie dolls made by Action-Lobeco. A later issue doll, however, showed a softened facial expression, as seen below:
Second issue above and at right. Note the sweeter expression.
First issue blonde and redhead, at left.
Cindi Joy was supported by a rather extensive wardrobe, and was also sold in gift packs, which included a doll and some fashions.

It's my own personal opinion that the Cindi Joy fashions are some of the better-made clone fashions out there, along with Mego's Dizzy Girl fashions.
JEANIE by S.S. KRESGE
Jeanie dolls were either made or sold through S.S. Kresge, which was bought out by K-Mart in the late 1970's. Jeanie was nearly an inch taller than Topper Dawn, a giantess among miniature fashion dolls, standing a whopping 7-1/2" tall. She came in blonde, brunette and redhead.
Jeanie had a few clothes made especially for her, that often find their way into miscellaneous clothing lots sold as "Dawn clothes". Most of these clothes were made of brocades or fabrics that had metallic threads running through them, though Jeanie herself was sold only in a stretch-knit one-piece swimsuit.
