DAWN
2000 2000
In 2000, collectors of miniature fashion dolls (especially Dawn collectors) rejoiced over the release of new 30th Anniversary Dawn dolls. The dolls were packaged in re-creations of their original, second-issue boxes, wearing re-creations of their original fashions. They did not look EXACTLY like their vintage predecessors, however. Dawn was close; Dale and Angie even closer. But Glori did not look anything like her serene, beautiful former self, even with the addition of her rare, topknot ponytail. You can judge for yourself below:
CHECKERBOARD DOLLS
Checkerboard packaged the new Dawn dolls in re-creations of their second issue boxes, then set those into "30th Anniversary Edition" boxes. If you're uncertain whether the "Never-Removed-From-Box" Dawn doll you have is a vintage Topper or a newer Checkerboard, look at the side of the box. The Checkerboard boxes are marked as such.
TOPPER DOLLS
The Anniversary dolls weren't the only ones Checkerboard produced. They also made a newly redesigned Dawn and gave her three new friends: redhead Shannon, brunette Macy, and African-American Denise. The box shown below is a second issue box. The original issue was a turquoise blue.

Dawn
Checkerboard produced two or three different versions of their new Dawn, first as Tee-Time Dawn, Macy, Denise and Maura (Shannon), then Karma Cool Dawn, Macy and Denise (no Shannon). The Karma Cool dolls had extremely long hair with color streaks. Special edition dolls, such as the Totally Golden Dawn and the Seriously Silver Macy dolls followed, as well as Holiday and Bridal Dawns. Dawn was also given trendy new bedroom and dressing room playsets. Other dolls, fashions and playsets were planned, but never produced. By 2003, Checkerboard Toys had re-organized to become first Creatoyvity, then Toy-O-Rama. Initially, eight fashions were produced, then re-released with four more added. Under the Creatoyvity name, four new fashions were made. Sadly, as of 2005, no new Dawns or fashions have been released.
