Essay Grading Guidelines:
An 'A' essay will:
Show in-depth understanding of all materials
Contain fully-developed ideas supported by the text
Maintain focus throughout; exhibit logical and coherent structure
Use language that is sophisticated and engaging
Demonstrate control of conventions, no errors of any kind

A 'B' essay will:
Show adequate understanding of all materials
Develop ideas clearly and consistently with textual references
Maintain a clear focus; exhibit logical sequence of ideas
Use language that is fluent and original
Demonstrate control of conventions, no spelling errors

A 'C' essay will:
Convey a basic understanding of materials
Make connections to the text and develop ideas
Establish an appropriate focus
Use basic language correctly and clearly
Demonstrate some control of conventions, no spelling errors

Any essays that do not meet 'C' standards will be rewritten

Letter Grading Guidelines:
To receive full credit (20 points) for this section the letter must:

Be believable for the stated purpose
Be in the proper format (use class notes or provided link)
Contain appropriate, professional language
Accurately and efficiently state your decision and summarize your findings
Question Grading Guidelines:
To receive full credit (20 points) for this section the answers must:

Be in complete, coherent sentences
Address all parts of every question
Reflect careful thought about and attention paid to the text and articles
Demonstrate an understanding of the larger task at hand
Notes Grading Guidelines:
To receive full credit (20 points) for this section, the notes will:

Clearly show that the student has carefully examined all required materials
Reflect factual understanding of and personal reactions to the readings
Be organized and easily understood by the student.
