Rubric
and Assessment
Designing the Rubric:
In creating the rubric and grading my work, I focused
on three areas:
- Content: Having all the required sections, artifacts,
and reflections present and completed thoughtfully.
- Organization: Having the content well-organized
and well-written.
- Presentation: Making the content easy to access
and enjoyable to read and view.
I chose these particular areas because I felt the
purpose of the portfolio is to reflect on the work done and to practice presenting
evidence of my learning as a teacher in a professional and interesting format.

Grading the Portfolio:
- Content: I gave myself a score
of a 4 because I have all the elements required in the portfolio present.
Also, I have thoroughly and openly provided thoughtful and insightful responses
to the required elements. Through this portfolio, I demonstrate my acquisition
of an understanding of how psychology informs education as well as how I
have grown as a teacher and how I will integrate this knew information into
my teaching.
- Organization: I have utilized
my web design skills to create a portfolio that is neatly and clearly organized.
Through the use of interactive menus, clear titles, and subheading, this
portfolio is easy to follow and read. Each page has a specific focus and
each reflection is written with clear intent to convey an analysis of the
assignment and insight into my learning from that activity.
- Presentation: Using the advantages
of web design, I believe that my portfolio works effectively as a website.
It is easy to navigate, either linearly or non-linearly. I have avoided
cluttering pages by keeping each section on a separate page. For longer
pages, I have provided navigation tools between sections and at the end
of each page. I have designed artifacts to open in separate windows, allowing
the reader to compare reflections to the artifacts. Finally, I feel the
use of the web design provides and original yet professional format for
presenting my work.
