One of the most talked-about features of B&W is the 'Creature'. A creature from the game world selected by you to be your physical presence in B&W. The creature, of which there are around 26 different types including a cow, tiger, tortoise and even a sheep, is selected to be your protg, by picking up the animal, and placing it in your citadel. Magically, your new titan begins to grow. So, like a new born baby, it won't know anything, but it will be influenced by your actions; you can teach, train, discipline, persuade, play with, instruct, and force your titan to do as you wish - you are it's master, it will do as you command.
The Creature, over time, grows and grows, until it gets to adulthood, at which point it will tower over villages and inhabitants. As they grow older, you, as their master, can teach them to cast spells and fight, and in turn the titan learns when it should and shouldn't attack. This also applies to all the other creature's actions, which are dictated by what it has learnt from it's god. So, for example, when it walks towards a village of an opposing god, it remembers you devastated it with magic last time, and destroy it on it's own accord.
To give a visual indication of your leadership, whether good, neutral or evil, your creature morphs into corresponding forms to match it's master's moral persuasion. Take the bear; in it's 'good' state, it's akin to a teddy, with bright coloring and curvy body; but in it's 'evil' state, it has claws and sharp teeth, in a deadly red shading. This amazing attribute is an excellent feature for multiplayer games: it will allow opponents to gauge your playing style and even your personality! And now, with Lionhead's plan for a persistent online game world, you can keep raising your titan, and with it increase your bond. The appearance of the creature also changes when they have been injured in battle, as well as their diet playing an important part of their looks too. If you leave your animal malnourished it will become thin and it's bone structure will be more visible than usual. It's subtleties like this that add a very realistic edge to the whole B&W experience.
Creature interaction isn't restricted just to you, they can act independently with others, allowing them to build relationships, whether friendly, hateful, or otherwise, with other gods creatures in the game world. There is even the possibility that your creature will fall in love with another, meaning they spend time with each other and enjoy themselves.
Each creature has a set of basic attributes. These attributes govern how fast your creature will learn, move and recover after fights etc.
