vs Alpena Community College. September 22nd 2001
The club started off the week with a thrilling
match against Alpena Community
College. A match that could have gone either way. LCC fell behind by two
goals early in the match, but Osama Sarhan put in a header and Sam Platt
converted on a penalty kick to level the score at two goals a piece. Alpena
grabbed the lead after Mark Spanier was controversially shown a red card,
leaving LCC with ten men. Even though the team was shorthanded, Sam Platt
scored the equalizing goal late in the game, and the game ended with a 3-3
draw.
The game was to be decided on a penalty kick
shootout, as agreed by the
coaches. Steve Taylor saved four Alpena attempts and scored the winning
goal by LCC, as the club walked away with a 3-1 penalty kick win.
