| OPK TIPS: 1. DON'T use first morning urine, it will always have a higher level, afternoon urine is best. 2. Pee in a clean cup and dip the stick in it for the allotted time (most are 5 seconds, some are 10 some 20, be sure to read which yours is.). Too much or little saturation will skew the results. 3. Set it on a flat surface with the test window up and LEAVE it there until the appointed time to read results. Even I am guilty of the 'is that a line?' premature picking up of the test, but it is more accurate when left alone. 4. DON'T read after the allotted time!! Period!! 5. OPK's test for LH (Lutenizing hormone) and there is always some present. There are mini-peaks before the final O peak, don't be surprised if you see one. Only being pregnant, menopausal or very recently pregnant (also using HCG shots for IUI/IVF) will affect the results. Progesterone and other things like clomid will have no affect on the test. 6. A positive result will be as dark or darker than the comparison line. It means you'll O within 12-48 hours. 7. Not everyone will get a positive OPK, make sure to keep good track of your other fertility signs. |
