Prologue:
From Roswell to Area 51. We had been planning this trip for years. A two week excerision into the unknown; this is how it went. Despite my best efforts there may be some slight continuity errors, forgive them. Special thanks to the Area 51 Headquarters for linking to us. And before we leave, we might want to do one last equipment check. The First Day (driving): Driving across country is not fun, after awhile the road hypnotizes you. In the first day we made it through West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and about half way through Illinois. It was hot and we had no air conditioning. Somewhere in Illinois we hit our first major thunderstorm. Visibility dropped to nearly nothing and driving was difficult but the rain was a welcome relief from the relentless heat. An hour or so later we emerged from the storm. Out of the passenger side window I saw a sunset that was simply amazing. Illinois has the best sunsets; it also has the sleaziest motels. |
