Review

Survey Savvy is the online division of Luth Research - an established offline market research company which has paid out over $8,000,000 to survey participants in its operational history. In other words - this is a legitimate, professional market research company which will pay you money for your time and not some fly-by-night scam which we see all too often on the internet!

Please note, before I go any further, you will receive occasional invitations to participate in paid surveys from Survey Savvy, so if you haven't heard from them for a few weeks after signing up don't give up on them! I almost did but since then have earned over $150 for a few minutes spent answering their questions so it pays to be patient.

Ok then, to continue...

Surveys here are infrequent as I said but in my experience, when they do arrive, they pay better than most of the other companies out there. I've had one study from here from valued at $100 for completion and the others have been around $20+. You must be sure to complete ALL of the profile questionnaires which you will find on your account page to ensure you stand the highest chance of receiving surveys. It's worth checking back occasionally as well because they tend to add new ones without telling you.

Some people have qualms about entering the amount of personal information required by some of these market research companies but rest assured, Survey Savvy has a strong privacy policy and promises not to share those details with other companies. Their privacy program is certified by both the Council of Better Business Bureau and Truste and privacy statements do not get much stronger than that. The reason you are asked for so much information is so that they can match survey participants to the surveys they have. A company might want to survey all 40+ housewives from Nebraska, so there would be little point emailing an invitation to a 19 year old sheet metal worker in Hong Kong only to reject them once they started answering questions! None of the personal information you supply is shared with their partner companies, the survey results are aggregated and that's the data the partner companies receive. They will not be told that Mrs Smith from 22 Pennsylvania Avenue answered blah blah blah - it doesn't work like that, rather they will know that 34% of 50+ housewives think...whatever. Your privacy is assured.

When a survey arrives that matches your profile demographic then you will be sent an email invitation to the address you provided(so give them a real one that you DO check!) containing a link to the survey questions. No legitimate survey company will send you any other emails than these survey invitations or very important site update emails so don't worry about receiving spam from them. Surveys usually have a time constraint on them so when you see the email it's best to take the survey as soon as possible. Usually you have a few days grace but sometimes they are limited to a certain number of respondents so best to answer quickly rather than miss out. A typical survey(for any company for that matter) takes between 10 and 20 minutes to complete. I've rarely had one which takes longer than 15 minutes to be fair but I suppose it depends on how much time you spend thinking over the questions. Be sure to set aside enough time to complete the survey in one sitting because once started you may not be given the opportunity to come back and complete it later if you are interrupted...it depends on the survey.

The amount you are paid depends on the length of the survey and the size of the demographic group - i.e. if it's a 25 minute survey and they are looking for one-legged ex-horse thieves now managing large corporations then you can expect a high paying survey whilst if they are looking for any Americans to answer a 5 minute quicky then it's probably not going to pay too highly! I have been sent surveys valued between $20 and $100 which makes them one of the higher-paying online market research companies out there but your experience may differ.

You can also earn more money here by referring friends to the site. Every time they take a survey you will earn a percentage of their earnings - kinda like a finders fee. This can mount up very quickly, particularly if you have a website and can refer lots of people to the site this way.

Overall, this is one of the better survey companies out there and one I would certainly recommend. Do not expect them to flood your inbox with paid opportunities and do not expect to give up the day job(you can't - despite what the sellers paid survey lists will tell you!) but do expect to earn a few dollars every now and then for doing little more than voicing your opinion every few months.
