Ray of Light

The corner looks so inviting
Crawl into the shadows
And hide away.
Let the tears flow
In the darkness
No one can see them fall.
The silence closes in
You cant even hear
Yourself cry anymore.
There he is
A sudden ray of light
In your world so cold and dark.
Quick, before he passes by
Lift up your hands
And let him see.
Whisper from the shadows
Would you be so kind
as to fix this?
I found it, broken on the floor
Like someone had dropped it
And left it to die.
All the pieces are here
But, you see, Im not sure
How they fit together.
You must hurry
It is still alive, but barely,
For the blood is almost drained.
You watch him from the shadows
His pale blue eyes see not
Your pleading gaze.
Time stands still
He moves as if to walk away, but
With a glance at your hands, he remains.
Before you can protest
His hands, oh so gentle,
Pull you back to the world.
Ashamed of your tears, afraid of the light
You twist away from the beauty
Of his crystal clear eyes.
A sudden warmth fills your palms
When you turn back to him,
The broken pieces are once again whole.
You gasp
You cannot move, nor can you speak,
For the sight you behold cant be real.
There is new life within your hands
The tears fall steady,
Yet ashamed are you not.
You force yourself to whisper
Do you know what this is?
Do you realize what youve done?
I thought Id lost this
I searched and searched,
But to no avail.
This cant be mine
Someone took it and dropped it
And left it to die.
I hid in this corner
And in this corner so cold and dark,
I found this broken thing.
Then you came along
You shone like the sun,
And though doubtful, I asked for your help.
I thought youd say no
I know not why, but you stayed
And now look what youve done.
You must be an angel
For, you see,
This used to be my broken heart.
