Hot Spot and Earthquake Aid
Earthquakes occur everyday; some areas are more prone to earthquakes. In an area called the Hot Spot, around Japan in the Pacific Ocean, this is a belt where many of Earths natural disasters occur. In December, an earthquake occurred in the Pacific Ocean, and caused a tsunami killing hundreds of thousands in Indonesia and other Asian countries. The tsunami/earthquake was along the Hot Spot. Earthquakes have also been known to cause trouble in Western United States. America's last great earthquake was in 1989 in San Francisco. Unable to make the necessary precautions, there was major devastation and destruction everywhere. Scientists have been able to predict that another earthquake will occur within the next 30 years. This time they hope to be ready. They are telling civilians to have emergency supplies with water, food, flashlights, and first-aid kits. Also, buildings and other structures are being reinforced so they will not crumble.
