Agent Doggett and Reyes walking up to an apartment
door.
<Reyes> So why are we talking to this man
again?
<Doggett> He says he has some leads about
the case.
<Reyes> (Ringing the doorbell) How'd he contact
you?
<Doggett> He called the day before we left.
<Doggett> (looking frustrated) He better
be home.
A man walks down the hallway.
<Romanowski> Are you Agent Doggett?
<Doggett> Yes, I'm Doggett. You called me
the other day about information about the case we're working on.
<Doggett> This is my partner, Agent Reyes.
<Doggett> May we come in?
<Doggett> (Man)(sarcastically)Sure, but I
gave the housekeeper the month off.
Doggett and Reyes enter the small apartment,
looking at the piles of newspapers on the floor.
<Romanowski> Sure, come on in..Sorry, I had
to walk my dog. (Behind him the Agents notice his dog, a small dog, he
looks like Queequeg.
<Reyes> Cute dog...what's his name?
<Romanowski> His name is Killer.
<Reyes> Oh...
(They enter his apartment)
<Romanowski> Have a seat.
<Doggett> (sits down cautiously)
<Romanowski> (offers his hand to Doggett and
Reyes) I'm Bill Romanowski, by the way.
<Doggett> (offers his hand) Right, nice to
meet you.
<Reyes> (shakes his hand) hello
<Romanowski> Sure, just hope I can help...
<Reyes> What exactly did you have to tell
us?
<Doggett> (takes a seat) You sounded very
paranoid on the phone.
<Romanowski> (clearing throat) Well, um, yeah,
I don't usually do things like this...
<Doggett> (looking cautiously) Things like
what?
<Romanowski> Getting involved.
<Romanowski> Making phonecalls.
<Romanowski> Meeting FBI agents.
<Romanowski> <shrugs>
<Reyes> But you obviously felt the need to
do it this time...why?
<Doggett> Well, this is a very important case
to the FBI, as well as myself.
<Romanowski> Okay, there's nothing concrete
I can point to, but...
<Romanowski> there was a man who was renting
a room from me here.
<Doggett> Go on.
<Reyes> (looks at Doggett)
<Romanowski> I put an ad in the paper, he
responded, we met, he seemed okay.
<Reyes> what was his name?
<Romanowski> Bret Tabrizi, I'm not sure where
he was from originally.
<Reyes> (pulls out a note pad from her jacket
pocket)
<Doggett> How long did he rent the place from
you?
<Romanowski> Well, he was only here for 3
months, he actually skipped out without paying this last month's rent,
he never gave me notice, just up and left.
<Reyes> You said he seemed ok?
<Romanowski> Yeah, kept to himself, never
had anyone over, always paid the rent on time, and in cash, too.
<Doggett> Do you have any information on him,
like a rental application or something?
<Romanowski> Actually, yes, I do.
<Doggett> Now we're getting somewhere.
<Romanowski> I didn't bother with a credit
check, I was in a rush to get someone in here, but I got some general information
on him, if it's correct, that is.
<Doggett> Can we take a look at it?
<Romanowski> Sure, hold on a sec. <goes
over to a messy table, starts leafing through papers>
<Romanowski> Here it is. <walks over, hands
paper to Doggett>
<Doggett> Reyes, do you think there's any
way we can get the room dusted for prints?
<Reyes> Yes, but...Mr. Romanowski, what is
it that makes his connection this case significant to warrant a call from
you?
<Romanowski> Well, when he skipped out without
notice, he left all his belongings here.
<Doggett> (studying the paper) Well, it looks
like he's from Branson, Missouri, if the information is correct.
<Reyes> You found something.
<Romanowski> Well, I looked through his stuff,
just to see if there was anything valuable, or something that would tell
me where he went...
<Romanowski> I found a notebook, some writing,
like maybe a journal, and some newspaper articles.
<Doggett> Mr. Romanowski, can we take a look
at the room?
<Reyes> (nods for him to continue)
<Romanowski> <looks nervously at Doggett>
Sure, Agent, but I should tell you something first.
<Doggett> And what would that be?
<Romanowski> The newspaper articles? They
were all surrounding the disappearance and death of your son.
<Doggett> (looks down at the floor in a daze)
<Romanowski> <looks away uncomfortably>
I'm sorry.
<Reyes> Let's take a look at the room.
<Romanowski> <relieved> Sure, it's right
down this hall, last door on the left.
They follow Romanowski to the room
<Doggett> (trails behind Reyes in deep thought)
Where are the newspapers?
<Romanowski> I did go through some papers
and whatnot, but I hope I didn't mess up too much.
<Romanowski> Over here, on the dresser, I
basically left them like they were.
<Doggett> Thank you. You've been a great
help so far.
<Doggett> Reyes, come look at this.
<Doggett> (picks up a paper)
<Romanowski> Do you need me to stay here?
I've got a phone call to make if it's okay.
<Reyes> (Approaches the dresser. It is filled
with clippings, pics, etc with an
about Luke Doggett) No, thank
you very much though
<Doggett> We'll come get you if we have any
questions.
<Reyes> (to Doggett) this doesn't mean anything...he
could have just been curious.
<Doggett> Why would he be so curious as to
keep all of these momentos?
<Doggett> I'm curious about the NY Yankees,
but I don't keep all of their newspaper clippings.
<Doggett> There has to be something to this.
<Reyes> Then we'll check him out as well as
our other leads.
<Doggett> Let's see if we can get this dusted
for prints, and run them through the FBI database.
<Doggett> Maybe we can find out where he's
relocated to.
<Reyes> ok ...and Agent Scully and Mulder
should have some info for us soon as well.(pulls out her cell phone to
make a call)
<Doggett> (looks around the room at a dresser
drawer)
<Reyes> (Killer enters the room and runs under
the bed)
<Romanowski> <enters the room, looking
for the dog> Sorry, Agents...lemme get him out of your way.
<Doggett> (now looking towards the bed) He's
okay.
<Romanowski> <leans down by the bed, grabs
for the dog, the dog growls at him>
Killer barks and growls as Romanowski tries to
get him out.
<Romanowski> Hey, Killer! Knock it off! Get
out of there now!
<Reyes> What's wrong with him?
<Romanowski> I have no idea, he's never like
this...
<Doggett> (proceeds to look under the bed)
<Reyes> What's under the bed?
<Romanowski> I don't know...I never thought
to look under there.
<Doggett> Well, there's a blanket.
<Romanowski> Do you see anything, Agent Doggett?
<Doggett> And it looks as though there's something
under it.
<Reyes> (walks over to assist him)
<Doggett> It smells like he might have left
some food or something to rot.
<Romanowski> <the dog is growling loudly,
doesn't want to give up the blanket>
<Doggett> (pulls the sheet out and covers
his nose) Looks like we found something. And it's not rotting food.
<Romanowski> <worried> Hey, man, I never
looked under the bed...the dog's never been in here, I have no idea what
that may be...
<Doggett> Reyes, take a look at this.
The Agents look closer... it's a TOE!
<Romanowski> <voice rising> What is it?
Oh man, this isn't good, is it?
<Doggett> We need to bag it and get it to
the lab. Did you get in touch with Scully yet, Reyes?
<Doggett> It looks like it's been here for
a while.
<Reyes> (as Doggett bags the toe) Most likely....Not
yet, I'll try her again. (dials a number on her cell phone) I've got a
forensic team on the way.
