Dates: February 2, 2002 - May 4, 2002

Weeks ending on April 20th, 27th & May 4th: Sorry, I haven't had an update in a while. I've had some real life issues that took precedence, and it's not like there has been any real news lately anyway. As the show comes to a close there are plenty of spoilers to read though.
Spoilers:
*on the Finale
From the "Haven"
(http://www.idealistshaven.com/spoilers/seriesfinale.html):

Additional Confirmed spoilers from an anon source: Skinner calls Scully and tells her to meet him at the brig (which is
at Quantico), it is regarding Mulder, in Act I (pending final cut).

From TV Tome: "Apparently the Gunmen will be shooting a new scene or two for the X Files finale episodes. From what I hear, it will be a scene of the Gunmen in the desert. I have no news whatsoever as to whether our boys will be Live or Memorex."
-------------------
A little more on the Powerplant/War room where the Knowle Rhohr and Mulder fight takes place. Mulder has a card key for the computer operations room. Once inside the room he finds a big glass computer screen with on which green textual data is visible. Mulder types at the keyboard and bings up new data under a log line: End Game. As the data scrolls by, Mulder's face reveals that the data is a stunning revaltion, perhaps answers that he's sought, but we don't know at this time what those answers are. At this time, Rhohr enters the computer operations room--it is Mulder who iniates the strike on Rhohr.
-------------------
The small print-- all spoilers are from a draft copy of the script and anything can (and usually does) change prior to airing. The nature of Q/A also demands that sources give their interpration and opinon on certain elements (as you will see below). You may not agree with those opinions when the episode airs, however it should be clear below what is opinion based on information and what is the information itself.

Question: My 1 major concern is seeing M&S together through this finale, so will there be a GOOD amount of screen time for these two?
Answer: They are together much more than Existence, but not together for every scene. I think they have some decent time together, much more than I expected.

Question: If mulder is being beaten why doesn't he fight back?
Answer: You mean in the fight with KR? He definitely lands a hell of hit on him. Youch! Straight to the skull. If you mean with the guards in his cell, he can't fight back.

Question: Do the script pieces you have seen indicate or strongly show that Mulder and Scully are in a committed relationship, at least want to return one now is back ? Apparently there's kiss some cuddling going on, but strength of their relationship integral plot (and here dreaded word again) unambiguous? I guess what'm asking is, does finale read as an Essence/Existence Requiem?
Answer: It's obvious to me that they are involved with each other. I don't think it's ambiguous at all. I haven't read the whole script, but what I've seen feels more like Requiem to me. Part of this may be because they are together more. Agent Mulder definitely gazes at Agent Scully!

Question: Rumor has it that Gibson Praise returns for the finale. Do any of his scenes give closure sad story, and involvement in
conspiracy?
Answer: Gibson is absolutely in the episode in real time (unless they do some really, really intense editing) and his story plays a pivotal role.

From "Ain't It Cool News"
(http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=12063):

Fox Mulder returns in the series finale of "The X-Files" which begins on a military base that Mulder is on with a group of others. He breaks away from his group and gains access to a door that leads into "the war room." It is there he encounters Alex Krycek who appears to help him, but who quickly disappears into the darkness as Knowle Rohr catches Mulder in the room. Mulder darts off through the base and hides in a computer room where he finds the information he has been searching for (or lack there of). The information about the conspiracy we've known of for the past nine seasons. When Knowle Rohr finds him, its a pure WWF scene but in the end, somehow Knowle Rohr (who we thought was a supersoilder) ends up dead. Mulder is taken back into military custody for the murder of Knowle Rohr.

Deputy Director Kerch's office catches wind of this and phones Assistant Director Skinner who calls Scully. Immediately they head off to the USMC Base Brig in Quantico Virginia which is where Mulder is being held. Scully is full of questions to Skinner, who doesn't know how to explain anything. When they are given access to Mulder, he appears to be talking to himself. As Scully doesn't miss a moment to run up to wrap her arms around him, he calls her Dana and asks if she is all right. She attempts to kiss him, but he doesn't respond in kind. He then looks over to Skinner and says "Walter - Good to see you." They notice very quickly that Mulder is acting weird. Mulder tells them that he is happy where he is and deserves to go to jail for having killed Knowle Rohr. Skinner and Scully try to talk some sense into him, as they are pushed out of the room by guards saying "Times up." When the guards return, Mulder is again talking to himself...but through Mulders eyes we see he is actually talking to Alex Krycek. Mulder asks why he is helping him to which Krycek says "You cant do this alone." The Guards react to this and shove Mulder back to his cell.

Later that day in Skinners office, Reyes and Dogget are told the news of Mulder being returned. Dogget cannot believe that Mulder is alive and Reyes is in shock that Mulder is accused of murder. They are told by Kerch and Follmer that a hearing will be held and they have all been asked to testify. Scully is worried about what this may or not bring up from the past but it is all she can do to help Mulder at this point, other than to offer proof that the person Mulder killed was either not killed by him, or not the person they are claiming.

Kerch goes into a meeting with someone named Suveg who tells Kerch he is going to "fix" the trial. Dogget, Reyes, Scully and Skinner go visit Mulder at the brig again and Mulder tries to play it as though whats happening is not serious. He spends most of the time acting unlike himself and joking around with Scully and Skinner. They are convinced that something is wrong with him and that he is being pressured into saying what he's saying. They leave.

Scully goes to visit Mulder in his cell that night where he sits in the dark as though he's been waiting for her. They are not happy to see each other there. Mulder tells Scully that he cant give her what she wants. Scully tells him to make a deal - guilty on a lesser charge. Mulder says he would rather die than give them what they want and Scully asks how he can do that to her. Back to old school Mulder and Scully arguments, Mulder tells her that it is greater than the both of them combined. That it is about everything they've worked for - everything they've sacrificed. Scully tells Mulder to expose whatever he is holding back, Mulder says he can't and won't.

The next day, Scully studies the information on Knowle Rohr and then heads home to where Dogget and Reyes are going to meet her. Dogget and Reyes get chased by a couple of men in black through Scully's to prevent them from being able to testify the following day on Mulder's behalf. They fail and the trial begins and includes many familiar faces including the newly added conspirator... the toothpick man. As Scully presents the information she's gathered on Rohr, the military court gets ready to present its verdict on whether or not Mulder will be given the death penalty. As Mulder is found guilty... the first hour of the series finale ends.

From the "Haven"
(http://www.idealistshaven.com/spoilers/seriesfinale.html):

Spoiler Summary from Various Sources and Ain't It Cool News:
What we know:

On whether or not Mulder escapes before Act VII of the finale. The honest answer is it's hard to tell without the final cut. It depends on the total number of scenes in the episode. For example, 'all things' had approximately 47 scenes (plus the TBW scene at the end), while 'Within' (or 'Without'-we really don't remember which and didn't have time to look it up) had over 80 scenes. The escape begins, according to the draft we've seen, in scene 49. So its dependant on the final cut where this falls in the context of the episode.

We also have NO idea what is in the teaser, haven't seen a word from that, but all guessing leads to Caterlogue.

On the AICN spoilers:
According to the call sheet posted to the boards (verified), the episode begins with Mulder's arrival at the Power Plant/War Room. Mulder goes into the War Room with the group of people he arrived with, as they are introducing themselves, he separates from his group.

The version of the script that we've seen, that is also corroborated by the call sheet posted to the boards (verified), Krycek doesn't save Mulder until after Mulder's initial fight with Knowle Rohrer (as opposed to what is in the AICN spoilers).

From what we've seen, Mulder's goal was always to get into the computer room, so it's not that he's hiding in there. And he doesn't meet Knowle Rohr until he's already been in the room reading the data on the computer gel-screen. The script makes a point to introduce Rohr to the audience in the direction for this scene, so we assume we haven't seen Rohrer previously in this episode.

Here's a scene by scene of what we do know/don't know:

Scene 1: Teaser, we don't know.

Scenes 2 and 3: Mulder arriving in the helicopter, gets into the bus and the goes to the Power Plant with the government workers he is hiding among.

Scenes 3 and 4 are actually more than two scenes, given the number of inserts. These scenes include his going into the Power Plant main room with the workers, his getting up onto the catwalk. There is no indication at this point, that he encounters either Rohrer or Krycek (live or ghost). He goes up into the catwalk, across the room, through the granite tunnel, he goes through two doors. He ends up in the Computer Operations room. We believe the computer operations scene remains as was already posted. After the fight with Rohrer, Mulder flees into the granite tunnel. According to the call sheet posted to the board, which is supported by scenes we've seen in script format, it is in this tunnel that Krycek saves Mulder from Rohrer. The call sheet makes no distinction whether Krycek is live or a ghost, but it does say that he "saves Mulder from Rohrer."

Scene 7 (we have seen nothing from scene 6): Mulder's in the main room and being chased again by Rohrer.

Scenes 8 and roughly nine, Rohrer chases Mulder along the catwalk, catches him, they fight. Rohrer falls off the catwalk into the
electrical wires. There's a big explosion, with Rohrer seemingly electrocuted. However, we do see Rohrer later in the episode, so he is, in fact, not dead.

Scene 11 is Mulder being beaten senseless in his cell, and he's already brainwashed in the script draft we've seen.

Scene 12 is rumored to be an aerial DC shot, leading to scene 13 where the ringing phone calls Scully out of the shower; it's Skinner. This is the information we've already posted with Skinner telling Scully about Mulder.

From here we can only assume, that the AICN stuff is relatively correct for the first hour. Though we do know from independent sources that Reyes and Doggett plan to testify, Scully goes to see him more than once, once with Skinner and once taken by a guard back down the corridor to Mulder. There are 14 scenes between the time she goes with Skinner and the time she is taken by the guard.

We also believe the call sheet spoilers to be accurate. Those are as follows:

Doggett and Reyes want to take Scully to Quantico, because Doggett has managed to get the body of the man they claim Mulder killed. There's a notice on the call sheet that Scully and Reyes look at the corpse in the autopsy bay.

In the call sheet: there are shots at the Anasazi Ruins, we know nothing about these.

There's a scene where Scully is sleeping with her gun in hand, fully clothed, when she is awakened by Marita telling Scully that they need to break Mulder out of jail or "they" will kill him. Scully's reply is that he was given the death penalty. Marita rejoins that it was all "they" needed to kill Mulder, that they could make it look like suicide. Scully understands.

For those worried that Mulder doesn't reciprocate Scully's feelings in the finale, there's at least one scene that speaks to the contrary. In the scene where Mulder and Scully are in their SUV in the desert, Mulder gazes at Scully ala "all things." It specifically says in the stage direction that he looks at her for a "good long while." He then breaks gently, steers the vehicle to the shoulder and looks back at her, leans over now and kisses her on the forehead and gets out of the car. He steps off the shoulder, and we wonder why until he unzips his pants. He's then startled by Frohike's voice saying "Hey, hotshot." (we assumed Frohicke was alive, and if Mulder was imagining Frohike as he was urinating, we really don't want to know...)

That's all for tonight, we're getting slapstick silly over here, realizing we have tons of information, and yet, really know nothing.
The irony.

From "Ain't It Cool News"
(http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=12106):

More series finale details from an "X-Files" insider whom we'll just call "William":

So the finale spoilers are squeaking out...but they are missing the essence of the episode, so I want to clear it up, as well as add a little. you know how in real life, if DC were nuked today, there is a shadow government set up in a bunker somewhere that would keep our country operating? That is where Mulder is trespassing into in the teaser. the teaser ends, and Mulder is being framed for the murder of Rhohr. the details you posted were not wrong, except for that Cary Elwes is not in the finale at all.

Mulder's trial is being judged by Kersh. Skinner plays defense attorney. a previously unseen agent is our prosecutor. The trial is
held in secret with no witnesses because the crime took place in such a sensitive military operation. Mulder's defense is to prove the entire X Files conspiracy. He needs to tie together aliens, alien bounty hunters, the Syndicate, the bees, black oil, Samantha, Baby William, Scully's Cancer, and the Super Soldiers. if he can prove that, he couldn't have killed Rhohr because Rhohr is a SuperSoldier. So the trial unfolds over about an hour, with every one you would expect to testify, plus some surprises. (Marita, Gibson)

Flashbacks from 9 seasons and the movie play over the testimony to really spell out the entire conspiracy.

But what do you expect from a trial over which Kersh presides?

Mulder is guilty, and faces the death penalty. Luckily for fans, and the franchise itself, he escapes with help of the most unlikely of people...someone thought dead for over 5 seasons...NO ONE DIES on The X Files.

I won't give away everything, but before the end, there is a long action scene being filmed this week with Mulder and scully (holding hands) being chased through the Anasazi Indian ruins by unmarked Black helicopters.

I will let some one else carry it from there...

Weeks ending on April 6th & 13th: Did you get to see the 200th epsiode party pics yet? If not you can check them out here: http://www.fansites101.com/200pics/index.html   No more real news to report, but see the spoilers below....
Spoilers:
*Finale
All From the Haven
(http://www.idealistshaven.com/spoilers/seriesfinale.html):
Possible casting spoiler: Laurie Holden Online reported that it has been confirmed that Laurie Holden will be shotting the finale as Martia. The source of this confirmation is Laurie's publicist, so it's likely to be accurate.

PLEASE NOTE: ...[F]ake spoilers are seemingly EVERYWHERE right now and we've worked as hard as we can to verify these. We've studied the call sheet many of these came from, and emailed repeatedly with people to try and poke holes in these. If you know these to be untrue, please let us know ASAP so that we can correct/delete them. Lastly, trust no one--not even us.

* Skinner and Doggett are with Mulder and land on the FBI building in a helicopter.
* Scully, Reyes and Krycek are all on the FBI building when the helicopter is there. (The source speculates that Krycek may be holding Reyes and Scully hostage because it doesn't say they go to Mulder).
* Skinner is shot by SWAT team on the roof.
* Mulder and Scully are both on the same helicopter pad at the same time. They are really close to each other but they are kept apart by the SWAT firing at them.
*Doggett had to have heavy make-up on his arm according to the guard. (The source speculates that he gets injured when Skinner is shot).

In what is shaping up to be one helluva family reunion "X" apparently will return as part of a military court hearing involving Mulder and Scully, Doggett, Reyes and Marita. And last but not least, there apparently will be at least one kiss and some affection on display between Mulder and Scully in the finale.

Spoilers that have been confirmed by an anon source:
*Gibson is in the finale
*Krycek is in the finale (or at least the script)
*Marita is in the finale
*Doggett and Skinner break Mulder out of the brig

Additional Confirmed spoilers from an anon source:
1. Mulder and Knowle Rohrer get into a fight when Knowle finds him inside a government facility and Mulder does get hurt.
2. Mulder gets away from Rohrer, but gets caught and put into the USMC Brig where he is beaten by a guard until he admits to what they need him to confess to (the script says Mulder lays his head on the cell floor after the beating, thus already placing him in the Brig).
3. Skinner and Doggett rescue Mulder from the Brig long after the military trial and sentencing.
4. There is no evidence that Skinner is shot in the attempt to rescue Mulder.

Additional Confirmed spoilers from an anon source:
Mulder's physically coerced into saying he's a guilty man, that he failed in every respect, that he deserves the harshest penalty for this crimes. The highest penalty in his case is the death penalty. Mulder, quite literally, is on trial for his life when he is accused of killing Super Solidier Knowle Rhohr. Also, while the escape happens in the second hour, there is Mulder and Scully interaction very early in the episode. (Please note: all spoilers are the best we can peice together from what we've seen, we have NOT seen the full episode).
---------------------------------

*9X17
From the "Haven" (http://www.idealistshaven.com/spoilers/917.html).
This reveals a LOT:
As posted by Unbound on the boards:
Please note: these have been researched to the best of our ability and we are comfortable posting them, however if you have any information that contradicts these, please let us know.

I was told they come from an early version of the script dated Feb. 22. The final spoiler is a transcription I was given from the script of a scene between Scully and The Breather. If these are accurate, keep in mind they are subject to change.

Here they are:

1. The episode begins and ends with the farm couple. They end up alone with William. The last scene features William with his mobile. Or his new one, that his farmer daddy made him. It is a hand-carved white buffalo.

2. Scully is examining The Breather in an autopsy bay, but he is alive. He gets discovered breaking into the X Files office and there is a confrontation with Doggett. Scully literally is taking his face apart, his nose, his ears, (the script) mentions slits for lips. At some point Doggett comes in and tries to convince her it is Mulder. When she goes back in, she draws blood to run the DNA, but there is what is described in the directions as an "intimate moment" where Scully seems to be trying to examine him with a "lover's" eye. That word is in there too.

3. There is a DNA match with The Breather and Mulder. Doggett believes The Breather is Mulder, but Scully does not.

4. There is no scene were we see Scully gives William up for adoption.

5. Scully takes The Breather home to give him the files he was looking for in the office, that he claims Mulder sent him for. Scully uses this as a test to prove he never talked to Mulder and can't be him, since Mulder knew they moved those files to her apartment. He takes off at one point and Doggett hunts him down, and they drug him when they get back inside and think he is sleeping in Scully's bed. He fakes sleeping and goes to William while they are all in the kitchen talking. He never says what it is, just claims it makes him normal, the hospital finds an elevated iron level.

6. At one point in the episode, they are looking at the files The Breather tried to get from the X-files office and in one of them is a picture of Samantha and Jeffrey as children. Scully identifies Sam and asks him who the boy is and he answers "It's Mulder's half brother, whose name was Jeffrey Spender." This (according to my source) is followed by "much Scully staring and Doggett befuddlement."

7. Near the end of the episode, Scully confronts The Breather. He tells her that William is normal now, and she asks if that means he is safe, will they leave him alone. His answer is that he won't be safe as long as she knows where he is.

Here is the transcription of the interrogation scene between Scully and The Breather:

45. INT. FBI INTERROGATION SUITE-NIGHT

SCULLY
I've seen my share of the hideous; of the disgusting and the repellent. But you, sir, are the most perfect expression I will ever
see of all that is vile and hateful in life.

The Breather stares at her, breathing wet, raspy breaths.

THE BREATHER
That may be true, but for a moment you believed it. That I was him.

SCULLY
I never believed it.

THE BREATHER
You wanted to believe.

And so she did. But this insight does not impress Scully.

SCULLY
You are as false as your face. And you must wish every day and night that the bullet which was meant to kill you had done its dirty work.

THE BREATHER
No. (a breath) You're wrong about that. I look in the mirror and see something much different than the world sees. He could destroy my face and dignity when he shot me in that office---

A QUICK MEMORY HIT

In the X-files office, season six ... where the Cigarette -Smoking Man
shoots Jeffrey Spender.

THE BREATHER
(continuing) But he couldn't destroy the thing I love most: my hatred of him.

SCULLY
Your cigarette-smoking father.

THE BREATHER
And Mulder's.

SCULLY
You'd counted on the DNA. That we'd buy it unquestioningly and never look any further. DNA's what Mulder shared with Jeffrey Spender.

THE BREATHER
Step-brothers raised apart, it's about all Mulder and I ever shared.

SCULLY
You haven't seen Mulder or talked to him at all, have you, Jeffrey?

The Breather, Jeffrey Spender, shakes his head no. Though she would like to disguise it, this crushes Scully even smaller.

SCULLY
(continuing) Getting caught at the FBI, winning our trust... it was all toward one thing. You only came for William.

THE BREATHER
Who would think such a beautiful plan could come from such ugliness.

Scully restrains herself from physically assaulting the man.

Week ending on March 30th:No news to mention.
Spoilers:  A few interesting tidbits from Lyle Goldman... Remember Chris Owens, who played Jeffrey Spender, as well as a monster, in earlier episodes? Well, according to my sources, he will be back in "William" as another monster, and in the finale as Jeffrey Spender. Apparently, he spent several days filming for "William," but only one day of filming on the finale, so apparently it's only a brief stint as Spender, perhaps a flashback or something.
Also....In my last post, I mentioned a brief appearance by Jeffrey Spender in the finale. I have more information on that. It seems that David Duchovny wants Mulder in the series finale to have a vision where he encounters all of the important people from his past. Apparently, Spender is one of them.

Weeks ending on March 16 & 23rd: Well, I haven't really heard any news this week.
Spoilers:But here are the latest spoilers:

From the "Haven" (http://www.idealistshaven.com/spoilers/914.html):
In Episode 14 written and directed by Chris Carter called "Improbable" -- Ray McKinnon guest stars as "Mad Wayne" and John Kapelos as FBI Agent Fordyce. Burt Reynolds joins the team as well. Reyes cracks the case about the triple zero killer who is called this because he kills people in circle fashion and has done this three times. In a break in the case, the agents discover the pattern of the killings being in the shape of a 9.
----------------------------

Episode 15
In Episode 15 directed by Cliff Boyle called Jump the Shark, the show does not pick up where the Gunmen show left off. We meet a character named John Gillnitz who is played by Marcus Giamatti. He ultimately leads us to scene 35... the end of The Lone Gunmen. Their funeral is held in a very military fashion with Scully, Dogget, Reyes, Skinner, Fletcher, Harlow, Bond and Jimmy the geek in attendance. The gunmens relationship to Fletcher is explored in this episode as well as the charactors of Yves and Jimmy.
-----------------------------

Episode 16
Episode 16 is a fairly intense episode that addresses the death of Luke Doggett. The story features a cadet with amazingly good profiling skills (too good). This cadet leads Doggett, Reyes and Scully to a man that he believes is not only responsible for the recent stabbing deaths of several women, but also (possibly) to Luke's killer. Although his information on the deaths is so good that the audience has to wonder how he knows what he knows--- is he just obsessed with the deaths he's been exposed to through his work/studies at Quantico or is he involved? Barbara Doggett is introduced in this episode, and Brad Follmer plays a significant role.

Doggett questions Regali as a father, not an FBI agent. Regali paints pictures for Doggett of what may have happened to his son, Luke. He tells him that Steve Harvey, a child molester, may have snatched Luke and taken him to a private place to commit his crimes. He proceeds to tell Doggett that a "businessman", an associate of Harvey's, may have walked in during Harvey's crime. Luke may have seen the business man's face, even though the businessman had nothing to do with the initial
abduction. Of course, then the business man would fear implication. The script is not clear on the implication, but it appears that it Regali may be insinuating that the "businessman" killed Luke to avoid implications. It is also not at all clear if Regali is this
businessman, because as Regali leaves Doggett, he is shot by Brad Folmer.
----------------------------

Episode 17
Chris Owens is back and is playing a character called "The Breather" in 9x17. The Breather is some sort of disfigured monster-like man. Scully, Dogget, and Reyes are led to believe that "The Breather" is in fact, Mulder. They have the same DNA. The breather injects something into William's brain and rubs a gel substance on the roof of William's mouth. Here is a tidbit from the script- .

SCULLY: "He (William) had no choice to come into this life. I had no choice in what he is, or was. But I do have a choice now in the life my son will have. (struggling) And my choice is he should never fear anything or anyone. And I can never ever promise him that."

MONICA REYES: "But who can?"

The painful answer we already know is heavy in Scully's eyes
-----------------------------

Episode 18

According to the OS, Episode 18 will be called "Sunshine Days."

This episode involves the mysteries of the Brady Bunch. Ok, not exactly. However, it does seem to involve a troubled man (who has changed his name to Oliver) who seems to have created a Brady Bunch world for himself right down to the house. However, the creation isn't physical, it's seemingly the product of psychokinesis.

From "E Online"
(http://www.eonline.com/Gossip/Wanda/Trans/Archive2002/020311.html):

From nutmegan99: What's going on with the X-Files/Brady Bunch crossover you mentioned?

Wanda:
Glad you asked, because this is almost good enough for me to skip Alias. Almost. In episode 18, Doggett and Reyes have to investigate an alleged murder at the house used for the exterior of the Brady Bunch.Reyes is a huge fan of the show, and Doggett is...not.
The house is owned (inside joke to Brady nuts) by a weirdo named Oliver. At first, all seems harmless, but it turns out Oliver is not only psychotic but a master of telekenesis. Having been totally freaked out by sight-seeing fans, he has rigged the house into a series of traps and changing appearances.

Oliver is suffering from multi-system organ failure. His "power" is eating him alive. The more he uses his "power" the more his health will decline. Oliver knows he's dying. The "Brady Bunch" stands beside his bed to say goodbye. Dr. Reitz tells Oliver he can't use his "powers" any more, that he treated Oliver like a lab rat, but that he can't do it anymore. Oliver says he doesn't want to be alone, but Dr. Reitz says he will be there. Doggett, Reyes and Scully look on at the scene from outside the hospital room.

"Scully stares, her thoughts elsewhere. Doggett turns to her, he feels for his friend.

Doggett: So close, Dana. I'm sorry you didn't get your proof.

Scully: Me too. Though maybe I've had it these past nine years. If not proof of the paranormal, then...more important things.
Doggett and Reyes understand. Scully swallows bittersweetly and nods goodbye, then heads off down the hall.
...
Doggett: Here's hoping the TV stays off and he learns to love the real world.
Reyes agrees. She glances to her partner. [Paraphrase of direction-she takes his hand]
Reyes: I think you are getting the hang of this job.
[Paraphrase of direction-they walk off hand in hand]

The Series finale is named "The Truth" and is tenetively scheduled to premiere on May 19, 2002 in the U.S.

Week ending on March 9th: No news this week.
Spoilers:
Not a lot of these either...
According to the Official Site (http://www.thexfiles.com/news), Episode 17 will be called "William."

Week ending on March 2nd:A few spolers, but no news...
Spoilers:
First, a couple of rumors from unusual sources:
1. Rumours are that Alex Krycek will be returning for upcoming episode 9x17 but how will they explain the bullet in his head?
2. Aint it Cool reports that "a beloved character" will be killed before the series ends this season. By character however they mean three of them in fact - Byers, Langly and Frohike (The Lone Gunmen). Their source says "all three of the Lone Gunmen filmed their Death Scene friday night for an upcoming "X-Files" episode. Don't know the episode title. Don't know when it airs. But it's in the can. They're also getting a full Arlington-like funeral with all trimmings which they're shooting today". Thanks to 'Austin 3:16'

Now on with the regular spoilers:
9X17
From the "Haven" (http://www.idealistshaven.com/spoilers/917.html):
At one point in the episode Scully and Monica take William to the hospital becuase he has been injected with something. Scully is obviously distraught, but allows the doctors to work on William as she waits. The doctor comes back and informs Scully and Monica that William is fine, that they can find nothing wrong with him. Scully presses about what the results of a tox screen showed, and the doctor explains that aside from an elevated amount of iron in William's blood, he's completely normal. While this doesn't make sense to the doctor or Monica, it makes perfect sense to Scully. While Scully and Monica are at the hospital with William, Doggett is interogating 'The Breather' as he looks for the syringe that was used to inject William. Doggett threatens to 'take out' 'The Breather' if anything happens toWilliam as the scene cuts to the hospital with Scully and Monica.

Week ending on February 23rd:Well, it's time to get excited folks...The X-Files returns  next week with brand new episodes! And the biggest news this week is that David Duchovny has not only agreed to come back and do the two hour series finale on May 19th, but he also will be directing an episode on April 28th and he co-wrote the story with Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz.
Here's the latest schedule according to the O.S. :

From the "Haven" (http://www.idealistshaven.com/spoilers/917.html):
February 20, 2002: From Autumn T on AOL:
Opens with two social workers presenting a farmer and his wife with the baby they'd been dreaming about. According to the social workers the single mother gave the child up for the "good of the child." The baby's name is William.

February 21, 2002: From an anon source: (Please note these spoilers have little to no context and in the course of the actual episode may play very differently than they appear. Please set your expectations accordingly.)

The teaser for this episode revolves around a couple living in "classic American farmhouse" adopting a child. When asked why the parents would give up the child, the social worker explains "This was a lifestyle choice by a single mother. And a terrible difficult decision for her. But I can say it was only for the good of the child. And the end of the teaser, the parents are introduced to baby William, and the script directions explains that yes, William is "Scully and Mulder's child."

From a Hollywoord Reporter Article: Duchovny also is set to direct the April 28 "X-Files" episode, based on a story idea he co-wrote with Carter and executive producer Frank Spotnitz. "It's an interesting story because it involves the return of Mulder or someone we believe is Mulder," Carter said.

Weeks ending on February 9&16th:Still quiet on the news front.
Spoilers:

9X12
From the Haven (http://www.idealistshaven.com/spoilers/912.asp):

Episode 12 is a MOTW that starts with what Kim Manners has refered to as everyone's classic fear-- what exactly is hiding under the bed? The story centers around 8 year old Tommy Conlon and allegations of abuse stemming from a conversation between the little boy and his grandmother. Tommy tells her that a monster hurt his mommy. Doggett and Reyes are brought in by Leyla Harrison to investigate the grandmother's concerns that Tommy has been harmed as well, and become the potential victims of Tommy's world of monsters themselves.

Week ending on February 2nd:Sorry, I'm late with the news this week, but there really isn't anything new to report yet. The X-Files seems to have disappeared this month, but it will return with brand new episodes starting on March 3rd. Now, on with the spoilers!

Finale news: From Yahoo News
(http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20020117/re/leisure_xfiles_dc_2.html):

Carter said Duchovny told him he was interested in coming back for the finale, "but it's all about doing it right."

Carter added he intends to tie up most of the show's mythological loose threads, including whether Scully's baby was fathered by aliens and explaining what happened to Mulder.

As to the overarching question of whether there really was a takeover of Earth by extraterrestrials, "you'll know something about that," Carter said. "This is a show that deals with the unexplained, and to explain the unexplained is kind of tricky, so we do it in our very own 'X-Files' way."

Here is an article from "Zap2It"
(http://tv.zap2it.com/news/tvnewsdaily.html?23432):

Duchovny Likely to Return for 'X-Files' Finale

by Kate O'Hare, Fri, Jan 25, 2002

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) -  "I don't really think we'll be sad until
it's the last day," says "X-Files"  executive producer Frank Spotnitz,
"and we realize that we're not going to see these people we've seen
for so long. That doesn't happen often in television, where you work
with the same group of people for so many years."

"But, it's scary, slash, exciting, disappointing and the right thing
to do all at the same time."

In a two-part episode, set to shoot in early April and air on May 12
and 19 on FOX, "The X-Files" bows out after nine seasons. Some may
argue that it was one season too long, but Spotnitz isn't sure what
caused the decline.

He is sure, though, that it wasn't competition from ABC's "Alias,"
starring Jennifer Garner as a secret agent, in the Sunday, 9 p.m. ET
time slot.

"That's silly," says Spotnitz. "I've heard many, many theories about
the show this year, but I don't think there's anything to that. If you
look at the numbers for 'The X-Files' this year, in the very first
episode, there was a significant portion of our audience that just
didn't come. They just weren't there."

"I could give you six different theories, and I don't know which one
it is. Is it because we started in November, and these other shows had
weeks on the air to build an audience? Is it because we were up
against 'Saving Private Ryan'? Is it because Sept. 11 changed the
zeitgeist of the country? Is it because people didn't know we were on
because there was so little promotion? Is it because David Duchovny
left?"

"At the end of the day, from where we're sitting, we just don't know
the answer."

Spotnitz also doesn't see a connection between FOX's pickup of "Buffy
the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon's science-fiction series
"Firefly," and "X" creator Chris Carter's subsequent announcement that
his show was over.

"No, it's just a coincidence, because the decision really was Chris',
and the timing of it was Chris'. He came to them. He had thought about
it over the Christmas vacation. We delivered two really strong
episodes at the beginning of January, and the audience wasn't any
bigger. He said, 'Let's get out while we're ahead. We don't want to
limp out.'"

"I'm sure they have high hopes for 'Firefly.' Joss Whedon's very
talented, and I'm sure their hopes are high, as they should be. But
'X-Files' has been such a strong performer for so long, it's got to be
a little scary for them too, even with our ratings this year being
lower than before."

As for the rest of the season, Spotnitz promises a resolution to the
cliffhanger finale of the short-lived "X" spin-off "The Lone Gunmen."
"We are going to clean up their finale, have Michael McKean in a great
episode. Burt Reynolds is going to be in an episode written and
directed by Chris. That's episode 14, airing in April."

And as for Duchovny returning to play Mulder in the finale, Spotnitz
says, "I think it's pretty likely. The irony is, he was going to come
back to write and direct an episode before the season got announced."

Asked if questions will be answered, Spotnitz says, "I just want to
say right away, we're not going to answer all the questions. Anybody
thinking we're going to ... you couldn't possibly answer all the
questions, you just couldn't. We'll do as much as we can."

Of course, there is still the question of the second "X-Files" feature
film, to which Spotnitz says, "Whatever the movie is, it'll be a new
beginning. What we're most concerned about is finishing the series
properly. We're not really worried about whether there's something
left over for the movie. In all likelihood, the movie's going to be a
stand alone Mulder and Scully investigation anyway."

Asked what's next for him, Spotnitz laughs. "Frank doesn't know. I
know I'm going to do the next movie with Chris, but I don't know if
I'm going to go onto another show, create my own show, write another
movie. It's a very exciting, scary, weird time."

9X14 - "Improbable"
From the "Haven" (http://www.idealistshaven.com/spoilers/914.asp):

The case involves deaths that appear to have a "numerological" connection. In the few pages we've seen, there is one Scully mention, but no sign of her.

Scully is called in to autopsy a "numerologist."

This is a standalone episode featuring a nasty character named "Mad Wayne" and a seemingly all-knowing character named Mr. Burt. Mr. Burt pops up whenever Mad Wayne is about to make a terrible choice in cards or in life. Is he supposed to represent a long buried sense of conscience for Wayne? Maybe. There is alot of numerical symbolism in the episode-- use of the mystical 3 and its multiples. It is Monica that first sees a numerological connection between the early murder victims. She seeks out the numerologist for assistance in hopes that if she can determine a clear pattern (a probability), they can predictthe next victim and therefore, stop the murderer.

9x15 - Jump The Shark
From the "Haven" (http://www.idealistshaven.com/spoilers/915.asp):

[Episode 15] is the Lone Gunmen episode. Morris Fletcher is in it.
Wondering what happened after the final episode of The Lone Gunmen series? Answers are coming in 9X15. When Morris Fletcher returns to haunt the Gunmen, the three amigos go searching for Yves Harlow's hidden background -- with a little help from their old pal, Jimmy.Vince Gilligan, John Shiban and Frank Spotnitz join forces on the script for "Jump the Shark," directed by Cliff Bole. Michael McKean, Zuleikha Robinson and Stephen Snedden all guest star in the show thatairs in April.

Yves: There must be a back-up--it's basic, Terrorism 101.
Jimmy: What do we do?
Yves: I don't know. But I do know that someone is out there. Someone is carrying this virus to a designated target. And we have three hours to find out who and where.

There's also a character named "John Gilnitz" in this episode.
