Dates: April 2001 - August 25, 2001
Week ending on August 25th:Nothing
but spoilers this week! And I would have those if I didn't lose
all my files on my computer due to a virus. :-(
Spoilers: Check back again
later this week for spoilers...I'm still working on restoring some files.
Week ending on August 18th:Nothing
major to report.
Spoilers:Someonecaught
filming one day this week and found out some cool stuff:
They were filming Lucy Lawless entering the FBI
Lobby
Robert Patrick going through the check point
at the FBI lobby.
They then shot the teaser with the character
of "Wormus" where he is offering Lucy Lawless's character a drink.
Lucy is the 'creature' that lives underwater.
Cary Elwes (I asked him how to pronounce that
to clear up all confusion for us all -- its El-wez, just like it sounds)
characters name is Assistant Director Bradley Fullmor (Sp?).
They also shot the scene where Reyes is playing
with Brad's mind.
They are shooting Dogget, Reyes, Skinner and
Lawless (I forgot her characters name) in Redondo Beach at a water plant
the next few days.
Lucy's hair doesnt look like it did when she
was XENA - It is thinner and straighter.
Reyes has a scene with The Lone Gunmen!
Oh and for anyone wondering -- Scully isnt in
this episode much.... Gillian already shot her two days of filming and
is done for the week.
Week ending on August 11th: Guess
what...another new character has been added to the show: From Yahoo News,
Cary Elwes has joined the cast of "The X-Files." He will play the recurring
character of FBI assistant director Brad Follmer, ex-boyfriend of special
agent Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish), inthe 20th Century Fox TV drama, which
also stars Gillian Anderson and Robert Patrick. "It's not just adding a
terrific actor, it's adding somebody of a certain stature to the show,"
creator/executive producer Chris Carter said of Elwes' signing. He said
the producers' goal was to cast someone very different from special agent
John Dogget (Patrick). "(Follmer) is a guy who is a little more buttoned
up, a little more polished; he represents a different kind of FBI," Carter
said.
Spoilers:
The following are more spoilers for 'Nothing Important Happened Today.'
August 11, 2001. From Agent1285 on AOL: Additional stage directions were
included in the original spoilers from Agent1285, but without the accompanying
context of where they fit in with the script, they didn't make sense, so
we've only included the summary information, which is missing quite a few
scenes, even from the pieces of the script that have surfaced:
Agents begin their day - Scully in first scene
Cut to a naked Reyes.
Reyes sits up AWAY FROM CAMERA, letting the sheets
fall from her naked, athletic body...
Her telephone rings and she answers the call
It is AD Follmer. He wants a meeting.
We cut to: John Doggett making himself a poptart
for breakfast.
LATER:
The meeting between Follmer and Reyes: "We see
her awkwardness, though it can't dampen her bright spirit." He calls her
into his office, he kisses her. She pulls away.
Reyes: We're at work.
Follmer: You used to ask me to close the door
in our office back in
New York
Reyes: Is there anything else you wanted to see
me about, Brad?
Follmer: Yeah. It doesn't take a whole lot of
investigation to figure out why you're in Washington, DC, Monica.
He inserts a videotape. John Doggett appears
on the screen. Follmer is holding a second video tape.
Cut to:
Doggett: That's what you're afraid of? They'll
say you murdered him?
Skinner: That's what I think the real tape will
show, if they were to continue and somehow uncover it.
Doggett: I think the tape will show there were
extenuating circumstances.
Skinner says nothing. The scene fades as Skinner
"stares down at the gun on his desk".
LATER:
Monica and Brad are sharing a drink at a bar,
talking about how they're not avoiding each other.
Monica: Those tapes you pulled outta your desk
drawer weren't exactly Pamela and Tommy Lee, were they?
Monica smiles. "A smile that makes you wonder
if the newest addition to the XF might have a secret appreciation for Agent
Mulder's bottom drawer porno stash."
LATER, talking about Reyes move to D.C:
Reyes: You know me, where my interests lie. It
was my dream assignment. Not to mention how excited I was about being up
here in DC. She gives him a sultry look over her martini as she downs it.
Follmer: You just got here.
Reyes: Yeah. Unless, of course, you got something
else in your drawers that'd give us a good reason to keep this investigation
alive
Week ending on August 4th:
The Biggest news is that... Lucy Lawless, the actress best known
as Xena: The Warrior Princess, has signed on for a multi-episode
gig on the upcoming season of ``The X-Files (news - Y! TV).'' She is set
to appear on the show's first two episodes. There's a chance she could
do more episodes, though nothing's been decided yet.
------------------
THE PREMIERE GETS A NAME
Season Nine opens in two parts, with both episodes
written by Chris Carter & Frank Spotnitz. The first show, entitled
"Nothing Important Happened Today," is directed by Kim Manners and will
debut on Sunday, Nov. 4th at 9PM/8C. It will also feature the debut of
the character played by Lucy Lawless. Its conclusion, untitled 9X02, is
directed by Tony Wharmby and will air on Nov. 11th.
-------------------
From an artilce on the AP wires By Marilyn Beck
and Stacy Jenel Smith: If you're a twin about 2 months old, the "X-Files"
may have a job for you. Seriously, folks, casting forces on the show are
looking at tiny sets of twins to play the newborn baby of Scully (Gillian
Anderson) -- described as a possibly recurring role -- next season.
-------------------
From screwball: Dean Haglund was at Comic-Con
International in San Diego last week, and I had the good fortune to chat
with him briefly. He says that there is talk of completing _The Lone Gunmen_
cliffhanger on _The X-Files_ (although how is
anyone's guess).
Spoilers:
Are you ready? The spoilers are starting to come in now!
Spoilers for season nine from the Haven (note,
Amy is sorting spoilers as either M/S or Next Gen)-
From Anon Sources and Autumn T. on AOL: Please
note, these are from early drafts of the script and may change:
Mulder and/or Scully Spoilers:
The script has a scene in Scully's apartment
with a man, described in the script as having "brown hair", taking a shower
(he is seen behind the pebbled glass). Scully, comforting William, closes
the door to the shower "to keep the man in the shower from hearing the
baby cry as she tries to calm it". As Scully calms the child, she walks
into the living room where there a half a dozen packed suitcases. In a
later scene a sheepish Doggett appears at Scully's apartment. She tells
him the baby's schedule has her up every two hours feeding. Doggett explains
that he needs her help. It is unclear where 'Shower Man' (Amy note: in
my happy little world, and until I hear otherwise, 'Shower Man' is Mulder)
is at this time.
TNG Spoilers: (From Autumn T) They sort of start
Act 1 with us seeing Scully, Reyes, and Doggett start their day. The Deputy
Director of the EPA appears to have driven his convertible off a bridge
and it is being investigated by an A.D. Brad Follmer who has ties to Reyes
(Very apparent as he surprises her with a kiss in his office). Skinner
has a meeting with Reyes and Doggett in which it is revealed that he is
afraid of folks finding out that he's murdered someone.
------------------------------------------
From Anon Sources:
Please note, these are from early drafts of the
script and may change. Please also be advised, if you are a shipper, you
may want to let Season Eight be the end of the road for you:
Mulder and/or Scully Spoilers: The script has a scene where Doggett calls out Mulder's name searching for him, in what could be Mulder's apartment, which was unlocked. In response to his call to Mulder, Scully replies from inside, "He's Gone," through her sobs. Doggett "holds her wishing he could be the man to save her from this pain. Wishing away his own pain at knowing he isn't."
Week ending on July 28th:
Here's some exciting news!:
<<After the success of the first three
seasons of the award-winning television show The X-Files on DVD, Twentieth
Century Fox Home Entertainment has decided not to mess with a formula that
works. The X-Files: The Complete Fourth Season will come this November
from the studio. Season Four picks up right where the previous season ended
protecting a mysterious man who may hold all the secrets from the elusive
alien bounty hunters. The season includes many of the show's finest episodes
and comes to a fierce finale as Scully must confront the men who assigned
her to The X-Files and learn their true motives. "The X-Files: The Complete
Fourth Season" will follow the format of the previous box sets very closely,
but will contain a few pleasant surprises. All twenty-four episodes from
the 1996-1997 season in their original fullscreen aspect ratio and Dolby
Surround audio. Other added features include nine deleted scenes, six different
interviews, dialogue in foreign languages, the new documentary The Truth
About Season Four, spots from the FX cable channel, special effects clips,
48 on-air promos and the new DVD-ROM game, entitled Urbs Tertia. Other
extras unique to this set include audio commentaries on the episodes "Small
Potatoes" and "Memento Mori" which includes a never-before-seen kiss between
Mulder and Scully. An alternate audio clip will also be accessible for
the episode "Home" which was originally edited for broadcast. The viewer
can choose to listen to the episode with the originally recorded audio
or the televised version. The set will be available on November 13th, just
in time for the beginning of the ninth and possibly final season of the
series. Pick it up for $149.98 and watch the conspiracy grow.>>
Week ending on July 21st:
A lot of news this week, so let's get to it: According to the Hollywood
Reporter, Chris Carter is sticking around for a ninth season with The
X-Files. He will continue to serve as showrunner alongside his seasoned
team of executive producers, Frank Spotnitz, Vince Gilligan and John Shiban.
Carter is said to have wrestled with the decision on whether to commit
to running the show or to segue into a consultant role. But after lengthy
negotiations, 20th and Carter finalized a new one-season deal late last
week. "Chris has so many ideas for this show as we go forward," Fox Broadcasting
Co. president of entertainment Gail Berman said. "Chris and Frank and John
and Vince are the life and breath of this series. We are thrilled that
he is coming back with his team in place."
From TV Guide: Fox chairman Sandy Grushow
was asked whether X-Files G-woman Gillian Anderson would pack it in next
year when her contract expires. "Gillian's contract is for next year, [and]
whether she continues on into the future, we don't know at this point,"
he responded. Grushow also hinted that there is a shocking Sixth Sense-type
twist planned this season involving Scully's newborn. "Pay attention to
Scully's baby," he teased. "[It's] a very important part of what's to come."
Next, Fox announced their fall line-up premiere
dates and The X-Files will premiere on November 4, 2001!
Filming begins on August 13th.
And finally, from an anon source: Please note,
these are *very* early spoilers and can easily change before an episode
hits the air: New FBI Agent: Male, mid 30's- early 40's. Attractive, charming,
sharp, can be no-nonsense. He's very political, perhaps arrogant at times,
and a good challenge to Agent Doggett. He and Agent Reyes were once romantically
involved. In his current efforts to rekindle that relationship, he finds
that she is no longer interested. It's rumored that this will be a recurring
character.
Week ending on July 14th: Not much, except... Now, there are rumors going around that quote David Duchovny as willing to return to The X-Files next season, as a guest only. Supposedly this is all because of the not so good box office returns from his latest movie, "Evolution". I guess time will tell on that matter. The X-Files didn't get nominated for anything major for the upcoming Emmy Awards this year. :-( The nominee's were announced earlier this week.
Week ending on July 7th: It's been reported all over the news this week that next season will be Gillian Anderson's last. She's been quoted as saying that she will not come back for a 10th season mainly because she wants to spend time with her seven year old daughter, Piper. Of course, this comes as no surprise to us, we've known for a while that she has been ready to move on with her career. Her contract does expire at the end of next season but whether or not there will even be a 10th season is not yet known. Basically nothing has been confirmed yet...Gillian's manager, Connie Freiberg, has only said that Gillian is keeping her options open.
Week ending on June 30th: Denise Crosby may return again as Dr. Mary Speake when The X-Files returns for its ninth season this fall, the actress told Sci-Fi Wire. She's not sure about the plot points, but that's to be expected on this show. :-) Also, word is out now that Jennifer Beals (Flashdance ) could have been up for the role of Agent Dana Scully. :-O She's been quoted saying that David Duchovny once had a crush on her, so he put in a good word for her. She also said that although she loves the show and Gillian Anderson's portrayal of Scully, that she couldn't imagine ever playing that type of character...actually, neither can I...Yikes! :-)
Week ending on June 23rd: Still quiet, as usual, this time of year. Anyone interested in a summer Role-playing game on Sunday nights after the show? Meet us here in the LA-X-Files chatroom following our regular post-episode chat, Sundays at 10:30pm.
Week ending on June 16th: Not much this week. But Robert Patrick took home the Best Actor award at theSaturn Awards this year! Congratulations Robert!
Week ending on June 9th: Well, it's been confirmed by none other than David Duchovny himself on several of his interviews promoting "Evolution"... He's not returning to the The X-Files next season at all...not even for cameos, as previously reported. He's just ready to move on. So let's wish him good luck...he'll definitely be missed. On a happy note, he did say that he was still interested in starring in the next X-Files movie though!
Week ending on June 2nd: David Duchovny's new movie, "Evolution" opens this coming Friday!
Week ending on May 26th: Well, no more new episodes for a while. :-( But FX is having another X-Files Marathon on Memorial Day! The X-Files from A-Z airs from 11am-12:00 midnight...don't miss it!
Week ending on May 19th: Well, the news is in! With the finale airing this Sunday, Fox has made it official now...The X-Files will return for a 9th Season, but unfortunately, without David Duchovny apparently. :-( They say that he will probably do some cameo appearances, but that's about it. So all of you Agent Reyes fan look out...Annabeth Gish becomes a regular now. Should be an interesting season, to say the very least. :-/
Week ending on May 12th:
Wow, only 2 more episodes await...It's been a hell of a season, hasn't
it? No news this week, but now that I'm back online I'll be able to update
this page regularly again.
No More Spoilers
...at least for the rest of this season. :-)
Note: There
were no News updates throughout the month of April 2001.
