At the beginning of the fourth season of the show in October 2000, viewers were blessed with the addittion of the wonderfully talented Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Larry Paul. Him and Calista Flockhart (Ally) developped delightful chemistry on screen, boosting the show's ratings that had been weakened by the previous season. Ally and Larry developped a beautiful relationship. Unfortunatly, it was cut short when Robert Downey relapsed from his horrible drug addiction. He was forced to return to rehab by the court and could no longer participate in the show.
Despite all this, Larry Paul is Ally McBeal's most meaningful relationship to date and will be forever remembered by all of the viewers who got to experience this amazing season.
