Some poems to share from
"The Gathering"
"An Easter Thought"
by: S. Stewart Hager
I could not help Him heal the sick,
That thronged in Galilee.
Nor serve the fishes and the loaves,
That day beside the sea.
I could not comfort while He prayed,
For strength to drink the cup.
Nor lend my shoulder to the cross,
He, staggering, carried up.
But I can soothe a body's pain,
Serve those weak to labor.
Cheer hearts that quail before a cup,
Share crosses with a neighbor.

"We need"
by: Elizabeth Rehm
We need to feel more to understand others.
We need to love more to be loved back.
We need to cry more to cleanse ourselves.
We need to laugh more to enjoy ourselves.
We need to establish the values of
honesty and fairness when interacting with people.
We need to establish a strong ethical basis as a way of life.
We need to see more that our own little fantasies.
We need to hear more and listen to the needs of others.
We need to give more and take less.
We need to share more and own less.
We need to realize the importance of family as a backbone to stability.
We need to look more and realize that we are not so different from one
another.
We need to create a world where we can all peacefully live the life we
choose.
We need to create a world there we can once again trust each other.
Sometimes we do not feel like we want to feel.
sometimes we do not achieve what we want to achieve.
Sometimes things happen do not make sense.
Sometimes life leads us in directions that are beyond our control.
But, remember that though things may be difficult now,
Tomorrow is a new day.
"A Man Who Loves the Soil"
by: Eleanor Lyons Culver
I think a man who loves the soil,
Who bends above the fertile earth,
And plants the seed with calloused hands,
Must be a gentle man of worth.
A man who cherishes the sod
Must surely be a friend of God!
I think a man who loves the soil,
Who nurtures every growing thing,
And watches with expectancy
For nature's fruitful harverting,
Who oft has powed the land's he's trod,
Must be a partner of God.
I think a man who loves the soil
Finds happiness in rich supply:
Though toil he must to earn his bread
He reaps much more that wheat and rye,
For with each little grain or pod
He culitvates a faith in God.
