Official Engagements

Lunch at a private home in Guarapari, just south of Vitoria. The lunch was held the Sunday before the conference actually began. In attendance were many of the speakers and conference attendees from out of town, including Canada (me!), Spain, Peru, France, Romania, Tanzania and Tunisia.

Before the official speech.  From left to right are: Jaime, one of our police guardians; Justice Sidnei Beneti, the judge from Sao Paulo who organized the conference; Debra Paulseth from the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General; Gail Cohen (aka Dylan), journalista; Izaque, another one of our police guardians. I was in a state of major nervousness just minutes before my first ever public speech.

We were invited for a tour of the school of magistrates for the state of Espirto Santo, of which Vitoria is the capital.  Afterwards there was a lovely cocktail party.

I really like this one!

On the last night of the conference there was a formal dinner at the Vitoria judges' club. A very swanky affair all round. I've only got a couple of pix but there was plenty of action.

Yes that's a dress, but I had to borrow the jacket!

Even our many guardian federal police officers dressed up.  And can they ever dance!
