THE REAL MELCHIZEDEK, PART FIVE

In Greek, the original language of the day, the word "angel" translates into "aggelos," which means no more than "messenger." The Anglo-Saxon word "engel" came from the Old French "angele." An "angel of the Lord" was only a "messenger of the Lord," or an emissary of either the spiritual leader or the Messianic King, or both. An "archangel" was the highest ranking priestly messenger, or ambassador, if you will, because the prefix "arch" means the chief or principal in rank, such as "archduke," "archbishop," "archenemy," and so forth.

In the Old Testament, two types of angels are described. Most of them behaved like normal people, eating at Lot's home in Genesis 19:1-3, for example. Admittedly, there was another type of angel who was more than just a messenger: "And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it...having a sword drawn in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem." (1 Chr. 21:14-16). Many angels were described in the Bible as carrying, or wielding, swords, but none of them were referred to as divine, spiritual, or ethereal. There is no mention anywhere in the Bible of angels having wings, which were invented by artists to represent the godly messengers' superiority over the rest of the world, nothing more. The symbolism was not meant to be taken literally, but unfortunately, history teaches us over and over again that most people would rather believe the myth than the truth, because it's romantic and takes less work.

We need to understand that Jesus was born into a world of complete and total chaos which we now call the Middle East. This Messiah was no milquetoast, no matter how much he preached peace, love, and understanding. It is historical fact that he and all the apostles and everyone else, for that matter, who wanted to be able to make it from one side of town to the other alive, carried weapons with them. Jesus said very plainly, "I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." How many times in the Old Testament did God say that He was sending a sword? Therefore, it was entirely appropriate, required and expected for the angels to carry weapons as well.

The cherubim were originally chariots or thrones on wheels, usually on fire and flying in the air (this calls to mind Eric Von Daniken's work appropriately called, "Chariots of Fire"). Although they were sometimes described as having wings, they were not anything but mechanical devices: "His throne was like the fiery flame and his wheels as burning fire." (Daniel 7:9)

An ancient document from Alexandria, Egypt, dating from the 3rd century, relates the story of immortal Sophia and the ruler Saboath (remember that Jesus is called the Lord of the Saboath, in the exact same spelling, and that in France, Mary Magdalene was likened to Sophia). The book is called "The Origin," which says that this ruler Saboath "created a great throne on a four-faced chariot called Cherubim...And on that throne he created some other dragon-shaped seraphims." Similarly, in Isaiah 6:1-2, there is reference to a throne in flight: "Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings."

In Genesis 3:24, God stationed cherubims and a revolving sword of fire to protect the Garden of Eden. In an ancient Greek work called "The Hypostasis of the Archons," the cherubim appear once more. This book deals with the Rulers of Entirety and Adam's creation, and Saboath and his heavenly chariot, the Cherubim. In 2 Kings 2:11, Elijah is taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire. In the Sumerian "Epic of Gilgamesh," there are similar episodes which are taken from the Mesopotamian Bible of ancient Iraq.

So what does all of this mean? It means that none of the archangels, seraphim, or cherubim were anything other than human beings and vehicles for transportation. In other words, if Saboath lived today, he would probably be driving a Ferrari! The hypocritical Romans, who first rejected Christianity and then took over the Church, were the ones who perverted the original cherubims and seraphims into creations that were based on Cupid and other pagan gods and goddesses. Cupid is the same as Eros, the God of love, who is always portrayed as a chubby child holding a bow and arrow.

What this means is that our intelligence has been insulted.
