Closer Than Brothers
Jesse Duke was having a very bad day.  Without Bo and Luke around to take care of morning chores, he had a boatload of work to do before breakfast.  Daisy usually stayed back at the house and had breakfast ready for them when they came in.  But today she was out here helping him, which meant breakfast would be even later.

He hadn't slept well last night.  Yesterday had to be one of the worst days of his long life.  Bo and Luke, together?  Like THAT?  His stomach twisted into knots at the very thought of it.  It just wasn't RIGHT.  No good could possibly come from it.

It had been bad enough dealing with the boys.  After they left, Daisy had sat outside for quite a while until the storm moved through.  And when she came in, she brought the storm in with her. She'd let him have it, and good.  Jesse knew she loved the boys like brothers, so why couldn't she see how bad this was for them?  How nobody in this town would accept them now.  But all Daisy could see was that he had thrown them out of their home, and she was madder than a hornet about it.  She had screamed at him for almost a half an hour before she finally ran out of steam and went back to her room, her face covered in tears.  An hour later, she had come out and left for work without bothering to cook him dinner.  Jesse had sat there alone with the storm, trying desperately to figure out how to fix this mess.  But there didn't seem to be an answer.

After they finished their chores, they headed back to the house.  Jesse expected Daisy to head to the kitchen and get something started while he cleaned up, but he was surprised when she just grabbed a cup of coffee and sat down at the kitchen table.

"Daisy?  You gonna fix us some breakfast?"

She glared at him.  "I ain't hungry. You want something, you fix it yourself.  You might as well get used to it, since I ain't gonna be around to do it for you much longer anyhow."

Her words shook Jesse to the core.  "Now see here, Daisy, I know you're upset about Bo and Luke, but "

"Upset?  That ain't the half of it, Uncle Jesse!  They're our kin, and they didn't do nothing wrong!  Haven't you heard a word I said?  If they ain't welcome here, then I ain't staying!  Mrs. Thatcher's been advertising for somebody to help her take care of that big old house, and it comes with a room.  I'm goin' over there to talk to her today."

Jesse couldn't believe what he was hearing.  "Ain't done nothing wrong?  Daisy, are you out of your ever-lovin' mind?  What they did was against the laws of man and God!  It ain't natural!  And it can get us all in a mess of trouble.  If J.D. gets wind of this, and you know he will, he can cause us no end of trouble!  And besides, it can't possibly be good for them."

That angered Dasiy even more.  "Bo and Luke love each other.  They always have, they always will.  I don't see how you can hate them because of that!"

"I don't hate them, child, I'm just scared for them!  They got to get over this this wrong-headedness or they'll regret it for the rest of their lives!  Men just ain't supposed to love other men!  Not like that!  All Bo needs is a good woman to show him what he's missing, he'll be fine.  I just can't believe that Luke would coddle him like this!  He should know better after that first time "

Jesse's pacing reached the end of the room and he spun around to face Daisy, but his words trailed off as he saw Cooter Davenport standing behind her, just inside the door.  His anger suddenly redirected itself.

"Cooter!  What the hell are you doin' here?!"

Daisy spun around; she hadn't heard the door open.  "Cooter?!!!"  //
How much did he hear? //

Cooter just stood there, not sure what to do.  He decided to answer Jesse.  "I was supposed to meet Bo and Luke; we was goin' down to the races this afternoon " His voice trailed off.  Had he heard what he thought he heard?  He turned to Daisy, who seemed a little less angry, at least towards him.  "Daisy?  Did you say what I think you just said?  Bo and Luke ?"

//
Oh God, he heard! // Dasiy's stomach tied itself into a knot.  She knew that in some ways, Jesse was right.  Lots of people hereabouts wouldn't take kindly to Bo and Luke bein' together.  But Cooter was their best friend, besides each other.  She truly hoped he could accept it.  Hesitantly, she nodded.  "It happened while we was down at Cousin Elizabeth's.  They told us last night, and Uncle Jesse threw them out "

"I did NOT throw them out!"  Jesse stormed.  "They walked out of their own free will!"

Daisy turned on him.  "After you threatened to hit Bo!  You think I couldn't hear you from the kitchen?"

"You WERE listening?  Why you little " Jesse's blood pressure was rising, his face was getting red.  And then, suddenly, he was clutching his chest and gasping.

Cooter's eyes had been going back and forth, like watching a ping-pong match, too stunned to say anything.  But when Jesse seized up like that, he ran to the old man's aid, catching him as he fell and half carrying him over to the living room couch.

Daisy stood, rooted to the spot, too afraid to move.  //
Oh, my God, he's havin' a heart attack! //

"Daisy!  Come on, help me get him out to the truck.  We gotta get him to the hospital right away!"

Cooter's voice spurred her into action. Somehow, the two of them got him into the back of Cooter's truck, and the next thing she knew they were barreling down the road.  //
Damn, you, Uncle Jesse!  You can't go and die now!  Not like this!  Not without makin' up with Bo and Luke! //

The tears were pouring down her face as she held his hand.  He might be a stubborn old coot, but he was HER stubborn old coot.  "You take it easy, Uncle Jesse.  You're gonna be all right.  We'll get you to the hospital in a couple of minutes."

All Jesse could do was lay there, clinging to her hand, grateful that despite everything she was still here with him.  Deep inside, he wished Bo and Luke were there too.  Why'd he have to go and chase them away?  Somehow now it didn't seem so important.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luke was having a dream.  A very nice dream.  It was a lazy Saturday morning.  They had no chores to do, and he and Bo were enjoying a leisurely morning together.  Bo's hand was rubbing softly over his shorts, not enough to make him crazy, just enough to feel really good. It took him a little while to realize he wasn't dreaming any more, that Bo's hand really was rubbing him.  His eyes blinked open to see Bo smiling at him.
"Hey there, sleepyhead.  Was wondering when you were gonna wake up."
Luke glanced over Bo's shoulder at the clock on the nightstand.  8:30 AM.  He couldn't remember the last time he'd slept that late.  It reminded him of why they were here.  But somehow today it didn't seem as bad; maybe that was because what Bo was doing to him felt so damned GOOD.  He moaned softly.  "Don't ever stop "
Bo chuckled, and bent down to kiss him.  It was a long, lingering kiss.  Luke didn't even mind when Bo's hand moved so that he could pull Luke into his arms.  It was as if after yesterday's trauma, they needed to reaffirm their love.  They lay together, bodies slowly becoming entwined, holding each other close, kiss after gentle kiss.  Bo's hands buried in Luke's hair, enjoying the feel of its softness.  Luke's hands slid over Bo's broad back, as if memorizing every contour.
After a while, Luke ran his hand down further, sliding under the waistband of Bo's shorts and reaching around to cup the softness of his ass.  He felt Bo's cock twitch in response.
"You like that, sweetheart?" Luke knew Bo was curious, and wanted to explore a more intimate kind of connection.  Before now, neither of them had been ready yet.  But something about this morning made it feel right.  They had all the time in the world, nobody would be looking for them or expecting anything from them.  And maybe there was just a little bit of defiance involved; if they were going to be damned for being gay, they might as well go all the way.
"Mmm " Bo sighed.  "Nice."  He couldn't believe how relaxed he felt.  Something about this lazy morning, sharing it with Luke like this.  Being away from home wasn't all bad, if he had Luke with him.  Especially if it allowed mornings like this.  As Luke's hand continued to explore his backside, Bo realized that he was also starting to truly accept that he was gay. Even Uncle Jesse's wrath couldn't change that now.  He still felt bad about leaving, but if this was what they had to do to be together, then so be it.  More than ever, he wanted to be with Luke.  Wanted to show him how much he loved him.  Wanted to take this last step.
Luke's hand slid slowly up his back and came around to cup his cheek.  "Bo?  You want me to keep goin?"  His eyes held the true question  'are you ready?'
Bo smiled at him.  "Yeah," he said softly.
Luke leaned in and kissed him oh so tenderly.  "You sure, love?  I don't want to pressure you."
Bo shook his head.  "Don't worry, Luke.  I want it.  Want to be that close to you.  Want to feel you inside me."
Luke shut his eyes and held Bo tight.  He couldn't believe Bo was willing to do this for him, especially seeing as how he still couldn't imagine doing it the other way around.  But he guessed that maybe that was one of the things that made Bo gay instead of, what had the book called it?  bisexual, like him.
He held on tight for a few more seconds, then let go.  "I gotta get somethin' out of the suitcase."
Bo reluctantly let him go, watching as he rummaged through the suitcase; then as he ducked into the bathroom.  Then he rolled over onto his stomach, pillowing his head on his arms.
Luke came back and put something down on the nightstand, then crawled into the bed with Bo.  He gently ran his hand down Bo's back and over his bottom, continuing down the back of one thigh.  Bo's skin tingled at the light touch.  He sighed happily as Luke's hand reversed its journey, this time going down the other leg.  Bo spread his legs apart, opening things up.  Luke took the hint and brought his hand up the inside of Bo's thigh this time, brushing against his balls.  Bo moaned.  Luke smiled.
For several minutes, Luke continued to gently caress Bo's backside and upper thighs, occasionally dipping between his spread legs for more direct contact.  His touch got firmer as he came closer to the crack.  Finally, he ran one finger down the length of it, sliding over Bo's opening and beyond.  Remembering the books, he rubbed gently the area between it and Bo's balls.
"Ooh!"  came Bo's surprised response.  With his head down, he couldn't see Luke's grin.
Luke took some time to play with the heavy sac before returning upwards.  This time, he pulled Bo's cheeks apart enough to get full access to his target.  He drew one finger directly over it, pausing to rub a slow circle around it.
"Ohhh!  God, yes, Luke!"
Luke could feel the sensitive skin twitching beneath his touch.  He continued rubbing slow circles around it.  Soon Bo was squirming beneath his touch, his breathing fast and labored.  Sure that Bo was enjoying it, he reached to the nightstand for the jar of Vaseline he'd grabbed from the bathroom at home.  Dipping the tip of his finger in it, he returned to the circular motion, applying the slippery gel.
Bo's heart was pounding as he felt the slippery stuff.  Luke was really going to do it.  He was so excited by this, so turned on.  And much to his surprise, there was no fear at all.  Luke would never hurt him.  He smiled when he heard the beloved voice.
"Bo?  I want you to relax, now, ok?  I'm gonna press inside."
"OK."
He felt Luke's finger stop circling and gently start to push against him.  It slipped right in.  Bo's breathing quickened even further as he realized that Luke was inside him.  Not much yet, just one fingertip, but it was something.  And it didn't hurt at all, actually felt kind of nice.  Different.
"Bo?'  came the hesitant voice.  He realized Luke couldnt see his face from that angle.
"It's good, Luke.  Oh, god, it's good!"
Encouraged, Luke began gently thrusting in and out, each time working his long finger in deeper.  Soon, Bo was squirming again, obviously enjoying what he was doing.  And with his squirming around, the angle of Luke's thrusts kept changing.
"Oh, SHIT!  Oh, god, Luke, do that again!"
Luke was stunned to hear Bo swearing like that.  It just wasn't his way.   //
He must've really liked that! // It took Luke a couple more times to find the spot again, that hard walnut-sized lump he'd read about in the book.  He knew when he got it from Bo's intense reactions.
"Oh, yeah, that feels so good!"  Bo's words came out almost as a moan.  "Luke  more.  I want more."
Luke was actually kind of surprised by how much Bo was enjoying this. He really wouldn't have thought it would be that good, at least on the receiving end.  He was even more surprised by how much it was turning him on.
Drawing his hand out as far as possible while still leaving his fingertip inside, he added some Vaseline to his index finger and gently pushed it in alongside its neighbor.  He could feel a little resistance from the ring of muscle surrounding his fingers, and a soft grunt came from Bo's throat, so he stopped.
"No, Luke, it's ok.  Keep going."
A little more hesitant now, Luke slowly worked the two fingers inside.  Bo made a few more little grunts as he worked in, but eventually he let out a long sigh.  "Oh, yeah!  It hurt a little at first, but it's good now."
Encouraged, Luke again began the thrusting motion, now actively seeking Bo's sweet spot. He began to imagine what his dick would feel like in that tight, hot channel.  He had a feeling it was going to be incredible.  Watching Bo's reactions to this was making him want it more and more.
Bo was in heaven as Luke's long fingers worked him.  The connection was so intimate, so personal.  Something he doubted he could ever share with anybody but Luke.  And then he was surprised to feel soft lips pressing against his ass cheeks, and Luke's tongue licking at his skin.
"Oh, God!  Luke!"  Bo was so turned on it was killing him.  "I want it, Luke.  The real thing.  Please, I want your dick inside me.  Now, Luke!  Now!"
Luke had to agree; he was well and truly ready too.  He gently withdrew his fingers and wiped them on the Kleenex he'd grabbed from the bathroom.  He gave Bo's bottom one last kiss, then reached for the Vaseline and greased up his dick.
"Bo?  Roll over, sweetheart.  I need to see your face, love.  I need to know I'm not hurting you."
Bo rolled over and looked up at him with such love and trust that Luke's heart almost exploded.  He laid on top of Bo and pulled him into his arms, kissing him hungrily.  Somehow he managed to pull himself away and got into position between Bo's legs, lifting them onto his shoulders as the diagrams had showed.  It took a few tries and a pillow stuffed below Bo's hips before he found the right position, but then suddenly his dickhead was pressed tight against Bo's opening and with a bit of a shove he was inside.  Bo cried out, stopping him in his tracks.
Seeing the panicked look on Luke's face, Bo gasped out, "It's ok, Luke, it's ok.  They said it would hurt a bit at first.  The stinging is already going away.  Just take it slow, ok?"
Bo's face was flushed and his breathing short and fast.  Luke watched his face carefully as he pushed in a tiny bit more.  Bo just smiled at him and nodded, and Luke finally realized that what he was feeling was pretty wonderful.  Even hotter and tighter than he'd imagined.  Eager for more, but still very concerned for Bo, he began a gentle rocking motion, going in a little further with each thrust.  It felt unbelievably good. And then he was all the way in.
Bo looked up at him, his eyes shining with joy and pleasure.  "You did it!  Oh, god, Luke!"
Luke smiled back at him, wishing he could lean over and kiss him.  With practice, he might make it, but right now he didn't want to risk losing their connection.  So instead he turned and kissed the inside of Bo's thigh, which happened to be the piece of him closest to Luke's mouth.
Bo laughed like a kid delighted by a Christmas present. It was more than Luke could take; he couldn't wait any longer.  He began thrusting in earnest, slow at first but quickly getting faster and harder as he watched Bo enjoying what he was doing.  And when he found the perfect angle and Bo gave a cry of pleasure, he hammered at that spot again and again.  He soon realized Bo was meeting him halfway, adding his own strength to their joining.  It was beautiful beyond anything he'd ever dreamed, pleasure beyond anything he'd ever felt.  And it couldn't last.
"Oh, God!  Bo, I'm getting' real close!"
Bo hadn't really needed the words, he could see how far gone Luke was.  He wasn't quite as ready, but he wanted them to come together.  So he reached down and grabbed his dick, jerking in time with Luke's thrusts.  And came, harder than he'd ever come before, screaming Luke's name.
Bo's body clamped down on him like a vise, holding him tight.  Bo's voice, calling his name.  Luke exploded, aware of only two things; the intense pleasure, and Bo.
Bo let his legs drop, wrapping around Luke's limp body as his cousin fell forward to lay on top of him.  They were still joined, although Bo could feel Luke's dick softening, slipping away from him.  It didn't matter.  For those few brief moments, they had been one.  Body and mind, heart and soul. Luke's arms wrapped around him, his face pillowed for once on Bo's chest.
They lay like that, learning to breathe again, reluctant to separate.  But Luke was a little too heavy for Bo to breathe easily with him on top, so he reluctantly slid off to snuggle beside instead. Words seemed out of place after the incredible union they'd just shared, so they lay together quietly, touching softly, once again sharing love without words.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

At the hospital, Jesse was taken right into surgery for a coronary bypass.  Cooter and Daisy were led to a waiting room, which was thankfully empty.  It being Saturday, there were no regularly scheduled surgeries, only emergencies. And lucky for everybody, so far this was the only emergency.

At first, Cooter had been afraid they might have to sedate Daisy, but eventually she calmed down enough to tell him the whole story.  He just shook his head, marveling that this had been right under his nose and he hadn't seen it coming.

Daisy looked at him with fear in her eyes.  "Cooter?  You gonna be ok with this?  About them bein' gay?"

It was all Cooter could do to keep from laughing.  "Don't you worry about it, Daisy.  I may be a good 'ole boy, but I'm no bigot.  Bo and Luke are my best friends, and it's gonna stay that way.  Do you know where they went?  We really ought to tell them."

Daisy shook her head.  "Oh, god, Luke was supposed to call up to the house this afternoon to tell me where they got to.  But I got to stay here "

Cooter thought a minute.  "They probably didn't go far.  Why don't you call Enos, see if he can get the cops around to keep an eye out for the General Lee?"

"Oh, Cooter, you're a genius!"  Daisy hugged him enthusiastically before getting up to use the phone.  While she called, he just sat there grinning and chuckling to himself.

Daisy dialed the local police station and asked the dispatcher to connect her to Deputy Strait.  "Enos, it's Daisy.  I gotta ask you a big favor."

Sitting in his cruiser, Enos grinned ear to ear.  "Sure, Daisy, anything for you!"

"Thanks, Enos, this is real important.  Uncle Jesse had a heart attack, I'm at the hospital.  Bo and Luke left town last night, I didn't hear where they was goin'.  I got to find them, Enos!  Can you have the cops around keep an eye out for the General Lee?  Have them pass on the message that we need them to come home right away!"  Some of the panic was creeping back into her voice.

Enos' silly smile faded as he realized how bad the situation was.  "Oh, gosh, Daisy!  Sure, I'll get on the radio right away.  We'll find them for you, Daisy, don't you worry!"

"Thanks, Enos!  I really appreciate this."  With a sob, Daisy hung up the phone and came back to sit with Cooter.  "Cooter, what if they're so mad they won't come back?"

Cooter put an arm around her, thinking how much poor Enos would like to be in his shoes right now.  "Now, Daisy, don't you even think that.  They may be mad, but Jesse's been like a father to them.  They'll come as soon as they hear.  You'll see."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bo and Luke had checked out of the motel and driven the couple of miles into town to find some breakfast.  After their wonderful morning, reality had set in again.  They had put off a decision of what to do next until after breakfast.
Bo washed down the last of his mountain of pancakes with some coffee and leaned back in his chair.  Luke was watching him with a sad smile.  It was time to talk.
"So.  What now?"
Luke laughed.  "That was supposed to be my line."
Bo thought a minute.  "We was supposed to be going down to the races today with Cooter.  We could head down there, maybe catch up with him."
"You want to explain to him why we wasn't home this morning when he came to meet us?"
Bo sighed.  "Not really."  Home.  He wondered what Daisy and Uncle Jesse were doing right now.
Luke looked up as he noticed something out of the corner of his eye.  The hostess was pointing someone toward their table.  Someone wearing a State Police uniform.  The officer came right over to them.
"You boys belong to that fancy race car outside?"
Cautiously, Luke nodded.  "Yes, sir, is there a problem?"
The officer consulted his notepad.  "Would you be Luke Duke?"
Again, Luke nodded.  He and Bo shared a glance, wondering what was going on.
"Mr. Duke, I'm afraid I've got some bad news.  Your Uncle has had a heart attack, and your cousin Daisy has asked us to find you and get you home ASAP."
Bo and Luke stared at each other in shock.
"If you'll come with me, we'll give you a police escort.  I understand you're up to some high speed driving?"
Luke shook himself out of the daze and threw a bill onto the table to cover their breakfast.  Waiting for change didn't seem so important.
They followed the officer outside and got into the General Lee, pulling out behind the cruiser.  Once on the road, the bubble lights came on and both cars kicked it into high gear.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When Enos got the call from the State Police dispatcher that Bo and Luke had been found, he immediately hit his own lights and hightailed it over to the hospital.  The front desk nurse pointed him to the waiting room where Daisy sat next to Cooter Davenport.  His heart sank as he realized the mechanic had his arm around Daisy.  But he was the bearer of good news, so he pushed on.

"Uh, Daisy?"

She looked up, surprised by his voice.  "Enos?  What are you doin' here?"

Enos smiled shyly.  "They found them, Daisy!  The State Police are givin' Bo and Luke an escort, they should be here in about half an hour."

"Enos!  You wonderful man!"  Daisy exploded out of her seat and threw her arms around poor Enos.  As if that wasn't enough, she kissed him right on the cheek.

Enos thought he'd died and gone to heaven.  When Daisy let go, he was blushing so red you'd have thought his face was sunburned.  He didn't know what to do, so he just stammered "I uh I'd better get back to work now " and all but ran out of the room.

Cooter got up and put his arm around Daisy again, chuckling at Enos' typical departure.  "Do you realize what you do to him, girl?  That was cruel."

Daisy sighed and leaned against Cooter.  "I know.  But I couldn't help it.  They're coming back!"  Her eyes sparkled with joy.

"I told you they would.  Bo and Luke are good boys, even if they're still mad at Jesse they wouldn't leave you in the lurch at a time like this."

Daisy let Cooter lead her back to their seats.  She turned to her friend.  "Cooter, thanks for staying here with me.  I don't know what I would have done today without you."

Cooter just smiled.  "Bo and Luke would've wanted me to look out after you, Daisy, if they couldn't do it themselves.  And I'd do it even if they didn't.  You Dukes are like my second family.  Now let's just pray that Jesse comes out of this all right and regains his senses where the boys are concerned."

"Amen to that, Cooter."

They were still sitting there when the doors to the waiting room opened and Bo and Luke rushed in.  Bo's eyes were wide with fear.  "Daisy?  What happened?"
Daisy looked at Cooter, then back at Bo.  "Uncle Jesse and I were fightin' this morning.  About you two " She gave them a 'significant' look.  "Cooter came in lookin' for you, and I think the shock of knowin' he heard was more than Uncle Jesse could take.   He started clutchin' his chest and shakin.'  So we brought him right over here "

Before Bo and Luke could react, Cooter came up to them and put a hand on each of their arms.  "It's ok, guys.  I'm not gonna freak out on ya'.  I'm on your side."

Both Bo and Luke sagged with relief at their friend's words.  After Uncle Jesse's reaction, and the delivery guy last night, they were prepared for the worst.  Luke found his voice first.  "Thanks, Cooter.  That means a lot."

Before things could get too mushy, the door opened again and a gowned surgeon came in.  He zeroed in on Daisy.  "Miss Duke?  Your Uncle is out of surgery and doing fine.  He should be waking up in about half an hour.  You'll be able to see him shortly after that, but only for a few moments.  He needs his rest."

Daisy closed her eyes and said a silent prayer of thanks. "Thank you, Doctor."

The doctor nodded and left.  And then a massive group hug ensued as they all rejoiced in the news.  Nobody even noticed when Cooter hugged Bo and Luke.  They were just one big happy family.
