NAME: Kasey
NICKNAME: N/A
HOOKED-UP: 1997 (Almost)

NOTEWORTHY: I actually met Kasey through
her mother,
Bev.  Throughout the 1990s, I had
bought numerous custom-designed shirts from
Absolute Pleasure T-shirts; most of 'em original
designs (like records of my cast memberships).
It was not until The
RHPS 20th Anniversary
convention in 1995 that Bev & I met in person
for the first time.  It was then I also met Kasey;
but it wasn't until two years later, at
Midnight
Insanity
's Light In The Darkness convention for
Rocky Horror's 22nd Anniversary in Anaheim
that a mutual attraction became known.

A number of things attributed to this.  Firstly, my
relationship with
Shelley had just ended roughly
two weeks before the convention; so as fortune
would have it, I was newly single at an ideal time.
Second, on that first night of the convention, I spotted Kasey sporting a Magenta outfit; then later on, she was in a Nurse Ansalong costume from
Shock Treatment.  Dressing as the most attractive female from both RHPS & ST, and lookin' good while doing so, was sufficient for drawing my interest--especially after Bev gave me her blessing via a verbal nudge by confirming her daughter was indeed of legal age.  And available.

I wish all parents could be that cool.

Fortunately, Kasey was interested in me as well; and we spent much of that weekend hanging out together during convention festivities.  Said weekend ended all too soon; and she returned to Colorado with her mother.  But we exchanged phone numbers & addresses before she departed; and wrote to one another frequently.  Later, when we both had E-mail accounts, we corresponded that way, too.  It was through such communicating that we confirmed when each of us would be at the same
Rocky Horror conventions, and got to hang out together further.

Unfortunately, the biggest obstacle to us hookin' up was how we live in different states.  Though we got along fine, and communicated frequently, about the only times we saw each other were at those rare conventions when we both attended; and that wasn't enough to build a relationship on.  Neither of us had the means for frequent, long-distance travel; either by car, bus, train or plane.  So chances of getting together for the occasional weekend were practically nonexistent.

Although she hinted at ideas about possibly moving to The West Coast, I feared it might be for the wrong reasons.  There was no guarantee a relationship between us would even work out, were we to live within reach of one another.  So packing up and moving out of her home state for something which might not materialize here was a concern I could not overcome.  And the thought of me relocating anywhere outside of California is a notion I never consider.

As time passed, our mutual interest faded.  That was what I had feared might happen, so it's just as well.  Kasey is no longer active in
RHPS.  Far as I know, she has found herself a good man and settled into a solid, longterm relationship that's proven to be just as rewarding as she could hope for.  And deserves.

As for Bev...  She is no longer active in
RHPS, either.  Though still keeping in touch with friends and fellow Rocky fans, she has essentially retired from the life of being a cast mom.  Someday, she'll write a book about all her life's experiences--in RHPS and elsewhere--which I look forward to reading.

I continue to wish them well.
