NAME: Jennifer
NICKNAME: "Guen"
HOOKED-UP: 1995

NOTEWORTHY: Before anything
else can be said about this particular
girl, one true fact must be provided.

She had absolutely the best hair
of all the women I have ever dated.

Bar none.

She was my only girlfriend in '95; a fellow Libra I met when we were both members of
Midnight Insanity.  We hit it off immediately, discovering many likes we have in common (music, computers, the Gargoyles cartoon series, etc.).  She was whom introduced me to on-line chatting, which led to my "BBS Chain" of romantic relationships beginning with the following year.

I'd been
M.I.'s Riff Raff for less than a year when Guen joined Cast to work on the tech crew.  Originally from San Diego (where she spent time with Crazed Imaginations), it was her desire to remain a part of the Rocky Horror scene once she started school at Cal State University of Long Beach; so the option to join M.I.'s show at the nearby Art Theatre came as most welcome.  It wasn't long after becoming an integral member of Cast's tech crew that she & I began exchanging frequent E-mails and established a solid friendship.

Although there was a mutual attraction between us, it did not really surface until after we'd known each other for a few months.  Once said topic emerged and was addressed, we hooked-up and stayed together for four months.  During that time, we hung out when we could and got along great.  She didn't have a car; I often had to pick her up for shows, cast meetings, etc.  So this meant we only saw each other on the weekends...

Which has often been the case with the majority of my girlfriends.

One thing I remember with fondness is just how well we got along.  We liked a lot of the same things, had many similar dislikes, and often talked smack about the same people who irked us.  She got along great with
TOBY & KAT, and even suggested the "MacValley Clan" nickname that we still use through this day.  On our own, we watched movies--including a lot of Anime; and even attended a great Queesryche concert down at the San Diego sports arena.

Unfortunately, whatever spark that was present for starting a relationship seemingly fizzled-out.  Good as we got along, we were not romantically/sexually compatible.  It is hard to determine if this was more a matter of her inexperience, or if I merely lacked the elements needed to ignite true, long-lasting desire between us.  In some ways, I was still emotionally crippled from
my second love lost.  Getting too close to anyone was a very real fear for me, and is often what forced me to keep even girlfriends at arm's length emotionally.  Additionally, Guen's school year had concluded; and she went back home to San Diego for the summer.  We agreed that it would be difficult and unfair to keep chains on each other by attempting to maintain a long-distance relationship; so we ended it.  By that time, whatever lustful(?) desires we'd felt for each other were essentially gone.

Looking back now...I can honestly say that from the point where we were just friends, through our relationship, and back to being platonic again, there was very little difference.  Yeah; we were quite a bit more affectionate while dating.  But that friendship we had started, and continued to nurture throughout, never dwindled.  Even when she returned to Cast in the Fall, we got along great (ignoring whatever minor feelings of awkwardness there might have been); and we've continued to do so.

Guen stuck around with M.I. for roughly another year, and then things started to take off for her outside of
RHPS.  Naturally technically gifted, she got jobs working on tech crews in places like The Galaxy Theatre and Long Beach Sports Arena.  For a time, she was even working in one of the computer animation departments for Disney.  After having seen her work so well in almost every area on M.I.'s tech crew, it came as no surprise to me that she would find success in similar areas of the corporate world.

Just about every girlfriend I've had has at least taught me one thing.  In addition to numerous other things, Guen taught me this:
I love long hair on women.  Long, full, luscious, lovely, healthy hair that just falls all over itself; and never ceases to be gorgeous.  Back when we were dating, I used to spend long amounts of time at Cast meetings just running my fingers through her hair...almost losing myself in the process.  It was/is intoxicating for me; almost mesmerizing.

And it was two years later before realizing that I missed it, and how much it means to me:  while dating
Lea (who had barely-shoulder-length hair), Guen came to visit the show, hanging around outside with me and other Cast members behind the theater...  And I just couldn't stop staring longingly at that lovely hair of hers (a weakness Lea keenly noticed).  Ever since then, after Lea & I went separate ways, it has been a preference o'mine--nay, a requirement!--that any female who wants to date me had better have long hair.

I'm glad to say that
every girlfriend since then has.

As for Guen...  She soon stopped going to
Rocky shows altogether.  She was among those with real potential who actually played it smart, got out and moved on.  Never leashed by feelings that many insecure people notoriously suffer from to haunt the show, drag themselves back on Halloween or be on hand for all alumni nights, she hit the ground running; and far as I know, has not ever slowed down.  It could easily be one reason why I've barely heard from her over the years.

Regardless, I shall always wish her well.
