| NAME: Charlie NICKNAME: "Genie" HOOKED-UP: In My Dreams NOTEWORTHY: We met in 1994 at the show in Montclair. She showed up in the type of eye catching outfit that made it hard to keep your eyes off of her. In fact, many a fella could not help but to stare at her; and I was one of 'em. She visited the show frequently that year, often arriving on scene in one stunning ensemble after another. I learned that she was a Rocky fan; and had actually performed out of State. It wasn't long before we became acquainted. Naturally, I hoped for more than mere friendship. Unfortunately, she was unavailable--already quite satisfied with the man in her life as their relationship soon reached new heights. It was good to see her happy; but it still sucked for me when thinking about never getting my chance to date her...which kinda stuck with me for a while. I eventually got over it. Girlfriends came & went frequently for me in those days; so it wasn't like I never got my share of attention. Regardless, Charlie was someone who seemed special in a variety of ways. She had that certain type of aura--one of mystery, I think--which really stoked my senses. This could simply be because of not getting to know her as I would have liked to. It may also be due to how she'd pop up at the most unexpected times, thus earning her the "Genie" nickname. Even "Charlie" is a nickname o'sorts. Yeah; that girl really figured out how to hook me. As the years passed and I moved on to other shows, we lost touch with one another. She occasionally pulled her "Genie" routine while I performed at The Art Theatre down in Long Beach; and while her rare visits were always enjoyable, we never managed to stay in touch beyond that...usually due to forgetting about exchanging contact info after shows. She is a person I continued to be fond of. Someone who became a friend I admired. Although we never dated, and I was not able to get as close to her as was hoped for, there's a smile that comes to my face when thinking of her...and imagining how good we could have been together.
