School Involvement Reflection

Sophomore year saw me just as involved in school as I was last year. This year I was a part of Mercury, Junior Varsity Cheer, Junior Advisory Board, Pep Club, and I was once again the Class of 2007 President. These extracurriculars kept me busy the entire year and I was very satisfied with what I had done.

Being on Junior Varsity Cheer, or JV, was a lot of fun. One reason for it being so much fun was because JV cheerleaders get a lot more respect than freshman cheerleaders. The football games we cheered at were also a lot more fun because the JV football team actually won a few games, unlike last year. It was very exciting to be out there and working to pep up the crowd and let them feel the spirit that I feel as a cheerleader. It was also fun to be performing at pep assemblies and pepping up the crowd there so that they would get spirited for upcoming events. I know that some people look down on cheerleaders, but I honestly think that if it is done right, cheerleading is very important to schools.

Being Class President again and being a part of Mercury once again was fun. It was a lot easier this year being Class president because this year I had experience and actually knew what I was doing. I was able to help raise money for the class and I feel that next year, the class officers will be in a secure boat when it comes to financials. I enjoyed once again being the leader of my class. Mercury was also a lot of fun because I had experience and knew what I was doing. I was able to count my totals up so that I wasnt under or over as often as I use to be last year. It was also a lot more fun because my friends were in Mercury this year. We had a lot of fun working the ASB and its satellite and serving the student body twice a week. It was a great thing to do last year as well as this year.

JAB, or the Junior Advisory Board was also interesting this year. It had just gotten started this year by Mrs. Canaris and it is a really good idea. It give students such as myself an opportunity to represent our school at community events and have fun. The students who are a part of JAB get the opportunity to participate in community events that are often held at or around Eastlake High School. Being able to work at community events and represent Eastlake High School was a great opportunity for me this year and something that I will be repeating next year for certain.
