The above essay in on the short story �Geraldo No Last Name� by Sandra Cisneros. The prompt was something like to analyze how Cisneros uses certain writing tools in order to establish the tone of the story.
One of the strong points of this essay is the analysis I did in it and the examples I found to support my key point. This year, using more than the required commentary sentences was a lot easier for me. I did not have to rack my brain with this essay in order to come up with commentary sentences that analyzed the concrete details I found. A weakeness of this essay was that at first I did not recognize the shift in tone that Cisneros has. But when Mr. Domingo asked about that when he gave back the first draft we did, which was a timed write, I realized that there was shift and wrote it into the final draft. Another weakness, once again is my grammar. Something new that I tried to use in this essay was a form of writing I just learned. In this essay I used the technique of weaving, so that the essay is not so structured in concrete detail, commentary, commentary. I feel that I used this technique successfully, which is why I got a pretty good score on the essay.
