Sign-up for a Briefcase at Yahoo. If you already have a Yahoo ID you can use your same ID and password to get in and out of your briefcase. Everyone will make a subdirectory or folder called Business Law. All of work for this class will go into your new Business Law folder. 5 points
Sign-up for a LAUSD email account by giving Miss Holzapfel your name and ID number. It takes 1 - 3 weeks - so sign up in week 1! This so you can use the online part of the class. 5 points
Get a Google ID so you and your partner can work on documents and presentations using google Docs and Google Groups. 5 points
First Day Questions answer these questions and save them as Questions_LastName and email them to me or print them out and turn them in by Monday, November 19th 5 points
Create an Assigment Sheet and tracks the points you earn and your grade to date. Keep this assignment sheet up to date; it is the evidence and support of of your grade. 5 points each grading period
Write a Reflection Letter to your parents using Block Format each and every week. Write this reflection letter in the language your parents can read. The return address is your name and East Valley's address and phone number. The inside address is your parent's name and address. If you translate your reflection letter into a second language you will earn extra credit. You can also earn extra credit by having your parent(s) sign the letter. 5 points each

You will read each and every chapter in Business Law by Adamson. Take notes while you are reading. Answer the Check points and Think Critically Sections. For example read Chapter 1 Section 1. Take notes on each section as you read. Answer the "On the Scene" at the bottom of page 4. Take notes on page 5. Answer the "Checkpoint" on page 6. and page 7.take notes as you read on pages 6 & 7. answer the "Think Critcally" section (questions 1-4) on page 8. This procedure should be followed for each Section. Basically they are do ever-other day. 5 points per section for notes

Warm-ups will be the first 5 minutes of class and there are no make-ups. Do all of the warm-ups on one page and turn it in on Friday right after the warm-up 5 points per week
Particiaption points are recording during class for positive behavior and constructive input on class discussion on Business Law. Points will be taken away for swearing, disrespctful tone, tardiness, gum or candy, hats and cell phones/electronic devices. classes or students within the classroom my earn the priveledge of wearing thier ipod speakers by showing consistent respect and rigorous working (see work ethics rubric). As all proveledges, this can be taken away for disrespect towards anyone in the room, school community, nation, whether they are present or not. Everyone starts with 3 points for being in thier seat and working when the bell rings. students earn and lose points as per thier behavior and contribution towards creating a respectful learnign environment.
Current Events are due weekly. Please refer to the current Event matrix to find out which day your current events are due.
Current Events are written (word processed) summaries and opions of a law or case discussed on TV, in the newspaper or as a current news story on the internet by a reliable source (ie oreilly.com, dailynews.com LAtimes.com, yahoo.com, aol.com......)

You will read do and present one "workshop", "Communication" or "Tech Talk" for each Chapter. You may work by yourself or with a partner. If it is a task that calls for a debate, find a person or a pair to debate against. 5 points per section. There will be a sign-up for each chapter.
You will complete a project for one chapter. The projects are on the first page of each chapter. The class will be divided into 6 groups (one group per chapter.) The chapter projects will be presented in class on January 28, 29, and 30th.
The final presentations will be in the auditorium on the at the end may work by yourself or with a partner.
100 points. There will be a chapter Project sign up posted in class during week 2.
Your chapter project will be presented in the auditorium on January 31st. 20 points.
Your chapter project will be presented to a ninth grade academy advisory or a social studies class. Set up your presentation with the teacher directly. The presentation is to be video-taped. The recording will be analyzed for self improvement. Use the DAR Form for this task. 20 points
Keep all of your work and put it together in a neat and orderly fashion in a professional portfolio (digitally or hard copy). You will present your portfolio to me on January 30th & 31st. Include a cover letter to me from you stating the grade you deserve. Back your statement up with facts and concrete evidence 50 points
Final - a written - individual - quiet task - a test - covering chapters 1-6. Includes vocabulary matching, true/false, short answer and one case. 150 points
Grades are due Friday February 1st.
