Vermin Proof Fence at Lake Torrens on Andamooka Station

Laurie's Rustic Blog

With it's posts rotted off in the salty mud, the fence stretches south across this arm of Lake Torrens from Sketching Pile on Andamooka Station to the northern corner of Bosworth Station.

It's about four km across. The land visible on the other side is Bosworth to the left of the fence and Andamooka to the right. From studying various maps I think there may be a small pocket of sand dune country on the distant shore. This should support some small trees, so I am hopful that it may be a good place to camp on my next trip, providing some firewood and a tree to tie a tarp too.

I didn't venture onto the lake surface. The resultant wheel tracks would spoil a spotless landscape and I'd probibly get stuck anyway with salty mud into everything. Not my style.

Camping in sand dune country. See some digital images on my other site.
